What did I think of Kiowa? It needs to improve in some areas!
LuseKofte replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I have been a bit unfocused while flying it setting controls and such. If you have a mild collision airbags pop’s and rotors sort of braking. Its visual damage model so far looks as it does in OH 6 mod. I am still hoping I am wrong about that. But if anyone is surprised by rubbish visuals on the DM you guys was born yesterday. there is no chopper in this game having such I have not been shot at yet. So I hope this is modeled correctly. But even if we payed 14 bucks more than an early access. I bet they will still work on improvements. And fixes. I am not well of with money right now. and our currency is <profanity>. So it was not cheap but still I would not call it expencive toy.- 599 replies

I have not come so far in it. I just learn right seat first. Will not bother too much with the rest. If it is on rails due to single player I am not quite with them. I fly SP and want authentic behaviour. As far as it can be done To this day I never used auto hoover in Gazelle. And I had it from the start. I did expect this module to be stable. So I knew this also will be a number two chopper for me. But as Dutch I find it very well done so far

It works fine. I have vp force just like any other chopper

I really believe this site looks more and more like Facebook comments. If someone feel they should not have payed full price for it. Why the h…. did they do it then? I have seen pictures for month, seen all the videos. To me it looked very similar. I find it well modelled and the poly’s I see , I did see on the videos. I even got to see a long video of a satisfied real Kiowa pilot flying this thing. Not a thing was a surprise to me. This is a solid piece of software and I will learn everything about it. This is going to be fun- 599 replies

Wow. I won’t go into details but this chopper got airbags what a treat to fly simple enough startup, very stable and easy to fly , yet feels realistic. Fun to shoot with the guns. Next is missiles. I am so happy. Very good job

I read and heard a lot of pilot interviews Vortex Ring state is not much mentioned by chopper pilots I think this problem is very high in DCS, and might be very correct modeled for all I know. I have not read or seen any accidents in real life where this phenomenon has been mentioned. However when you fly in a game, one tend to push the envelope to the very end , and I think vortex R has taken more virtual life’s than enemy fire

If focusing being just a pilot and let George do his thing it really become pretty intuitive. As for controlling it I find it a bit wobbly in takeoff and landing, this is because I fly it very seldom. Take your time looking at yt tutorials buy a real chopper like Huey , or dl OH 6 mod. Latter became pretty good after update. It will provide good chopper handeling training. And it is quite fun flying.

Not sure I want that. If you land on ground you are sucked to the ground on skids enough as it is -

Happened once to me. I went from opposite direction and Petra found them. But first attempt he ignored the convoy entirely. -

I Wonder how this issue can be solved people obviously got different experience Anyone have this offline in sp? If this happens in a public server again. Can you see if it is a problem on a quick mission afterwards. It is obviously a problem that is difficult to get a useful track. I fly little to none on public servers. Only coop with mates and campaigns and have absolutely no problems. It is clearly frustrating for all parts -
For a rotorhead this is a no brainer. Having concerns on the purchase due to suspected quality issues? Well don’t if you do. For my sake, I have a long wish list on older chopper modules , but I do not make it a political issue. Too many post on social platforms I have read from angry men acting like this is important. Yeah, I spent a lot of my spare time in various flight sims since 2000 , and a lot in this brand since lock on But that is on me. I voluntarily spent my time with great fun and do not blame ED for doing so. And I bet I spent more money on hardware than most too. I still do not blame ED

He is a gohst from the past. He has several posts where he refuse supporting his angry complaints with a track. I just forgot. I would not bother answering -

I am with Flappie on this. I cannot replicate some of the stories here at all and I fly it a lot. I can confirm that I partially had him not spotting targets. But kind of a realistic way. Not angry frustrating way like you expirienced. For all we know you got a mod interfere, or you simply ain’t doing it right. I myself have reported my own mistakes as a bug. Your tone is by the way very rude agains a man trying to help. Go out and take a beer or wrestle with a bear or whatever. Just do not act like this is that important. I personally think I got a cheat onboard most of the time. In servers he spots targets before he can identify what they are and I can choose target and kill 3 aa before coming too close and have to turn. A Human eye cannot spot what he does. -
I fly it with flashlight enabled. it sort of mend the problem in a realistic way. I just put the mouse somewhere it do not compromise view when flying.

Agreed sad really. ED does not know what they have here. It is the best utility chopper around and a great chopper to hone skills. it is my absolute favourite. But it is kind of outdated. It is not going to be better when they release an early access Chinook.

need track replay Yet another complaint about Petro . FIX THIS .
LuseKofte replied to KoN's topic in Bugs and Problems
I have said in earlier post about this, Petro give me no trouble worth mentioning in Coop. But I had him eliminate one area of targets and sometimes he can no longer track anything on next area of targets. One can see the sight move, so no stuck scope. If I reload and refuel he can see the same column he previously did not see but from opposite angle. This has occurred for me two times out of maybe 12 ish missions. In sp I got no problem at all. In public servers I had none of this. But I admit I get to take out up to 3 targets before I am toast most of the time. -
I have vp force rhino. And it do not behave this way on mine. But I probably can make it do that by manipulate the software. I just think you wear out the stick if you get too much such reaction. VP force also got a very strong motor that easily can (probably) can brake something if you have strong settings on it with sudden movements

I do not need click pits for realism. I need it for not having endless button assignments and remember them all. For me SU 25 is a pain in the neck to remember where I assign what the times I fly it. A very capable aircraft which I love. But I always have to take half a hour before a coop flight just to see where I put my assignments. Click pits are simply easier to maintain a ok ish handeling of any ac. -

Collective throttle axis did not work for me. I had to use buttons. -

Me and a mate flew today and I must say this is a good mod. It is still some weird stuff happening flying close to mountain ridges. And in my impression when in ground effect. Over ground effect I have no problem hoovering. But all this can be me not being a real chopper pilot. I am deeply impressed by this. -

Petro is shutting it down if you start carefully. If you make sudden violent manoeuvres he is doing it too late. -
Yet that is the risk you take. One too early. One mistake and you call out a fiasco. One of many. Do you think any other sim is better. GB spent 9 years fixing one plane. I won’t even mention msfs. And here you are pointing out one mistake. On an early access , by any terms that was a beta to start with. it is simply not enough, to a normal community to collect the torches and forks But yeah you know. It got to be a storm.
