  1. Doum76, i think i will try the trimming in the break. I agree with the nose down on refueling - helps a lot not to have to push the stick forward (i hate that with the Joystick :megalol:). It also prevents trimming up too much while taking fuel. To get back to OPs 2nd question... I reviewed this video again: If you watch the flaps position (F in HUD) and the vertical speed (FPM and bar) closely you will see that the flaps drop to 62° while he passes through 160 kn. After a little delay you will notice that his FPM will go up to 0 while his attitude, nozzle and throttle position do not change. He sets the nozzle to 60° at 170 kn and the only big change is that his airspeed drops. After that he controls his speed by setting the AOA. At 3/4 mile (entering the groove) he raises the pitch carrot to the horizon and flies a 12 AOA approach with 3°glidepath like we should do in the groove. Changing his AOA from 8-10 units to 12 slows him down from ~120kn to ~80 kn. There are some interesting videos of the TAV-8 to learn from. Side note: Heavy gliders use the change of flaps position while getting towed by a tow plane. Some light tow planes get airborne before the glider. To minimize the bumping and jumping as well as drag the pilot of the glider sets his flaps from normal to the takeoff position at exactly that speed where he can comfortably fly with takeoff flaps. Doing so he gets airborne earlier from a smooth roll into a stable takeoff. edit. OPs 1st question: He uses the nozzles only for a few seconds. They are at 10° on the ground, rotate to ~55° at ~80 kn rotation speed (marked by the box around the airspeed?) immediately starts to go back to zero (slowly) and keeps 6-8 units of AOA. After that he throttles back.
  2. Wags in the last stream: ~ " the F-16 is very interesting"
  3. Hi I don't know any other way. The hook is only for emergencies -> only the ground crew can reset it. I guess they have to check the whole air frame IRL if they used the hook in an emergency landing. That will take even longer than our short repair/magic reset function. So if you accidentally dropped it :joystick:... ignore it or land.
  4. Very well done! Someone is striving for perfection in that video. ;) For me the key really was to arrive at the abeam pos trimmed out with 50°-60° nozzles at 10-12 units of AOA. What I try to do different, is to break a little bit later and do a level break. Then I have more time for trimming and the checklist and can loose the 200 ft in the downwind. NAVAIR says to break after 10 sec passing the carrier. Getting more precise takes a lot of practice. E.g. you were very slightly too far away at the abeam and started your turn late. Because of that you had to fly a shallow glidepath and less than 20°-25° AOB. All this will get a little bit easier once we get TACAN. That will allow us to check the distances in flight.
  5. I think we are thinking of 2 different points used for navigation. In the ME there are not only the waypoints you can place while placing an aircraft/vehicle. Mwd2 is talking about the "ip" points. Only the A10C can use those at the moment. They are really useful when placed like real nav points for navigation. In the A10C you can easily setup a flight plan in multiplayer if the server has the correct "IP" points set. Sorry if this was a little confusing...
  6. Another awesome thing that jester could do: go through the checklists you have chosen and challenge you with the different items like a real crew would do. (But maybe ignore the mistakes of the pilot...)
  7. May you give us a time stamp for the yt video? 1->probably one of the "dogfight" modes for the gun 2->need time stamp You can check the NATOPS for any information on this subject. Most likely it is left out.
  8. We have plenty of FC3 planes; "ground pounders" and very capable fighter. Why should they do even more. New players can buy the bundle or single FC3 planes. That doesn't change after the release of the F/A-18C/F-14. Don't forget the auto start. With that you really don't need to do more than in the FC3 planes to fly Air to Air missions in terms of systems. Gear up, AA mode, Master ARM up and off you go. You can happily ignore the navigation systems and similar.
  9. Dass die Funkgeräte funktionieren und das Kniebrett mit Multiplayer Funktionen schon implementiert ist, zeigt wie nah sie an der Community sind. Die 104th macht einen guten Job.
  10. Awesome update. Mainly the implementation of the radios as well as the kneeboard for multiplayer shows how close you work together with the community. Well done!
  11. They said they are working on implementing the 3 sequences and want the ins waypoint system ready for early access release. Did Matt mentioned navpoints exactly? No need for this kind of attitude.
  12. It's 01.04 now over here.
  13. He said that 31. Not on 01.04 right? :)

  15. A good point to start in every non FC3 model is to select the "hotas" group in the control menu. There you will find all the stuff pilot in the real planes has on his hotas. After some flying you will find stuff that you want to add to your hotas and stuff that is on your hotas but you don't need it there. Eg. F5 I need the trim and boards on the hotas like they are. I deleted the flaps position because they stay in Auto the whole flight. I added the radar on/standby switch to only turn radar on if I missed my first gun shots after sneaking up on the enemy. Really helpful are the dogfight gun/missile modes. They overwrite Piper setup and jettison switch as well as adjust your radar. If you tuned your pylons and master arm on and hit the dogfight missile mode: missiles go definitely off
  16. The Natops has some answers for you. 1 If you are light you may not need all the power available. Try to set the power after airborne and then rotate the nozzles. 2 that happens if you set vtol flaps late. When slower than 250 kn and above 200, drop the gear. That will set flaps to 25. You can select vtol flaps right after that and will not experience increased lift while slowing down. If you select vtol flaps too late you are compensating the lift thy would produce with engine power. If you then select vtol flaps, they will immediately go to their max position and you will have a increased lift moment. This effect will be even bigger if you don't use your throttle for your pitch attitude but your stick. The Natops says that a fixed 60° nozzle position is the most effective and save approach. If you need to land on a short runway you can select a power setting and only use your nozzle during the final approach. High power settings will result in slower landings than lower power settings. Gl
  17. Was it somebody from heatblur? That would make future swedish moduls very unlikely...
  18. Check the table of contents. They are left out. Classified
  21. Thank you for the explanation of how you think they work in reality. But you brought up the second post of this thread and the discussion went off topic at this point. My post was only about DCS and the question of OP wether the T is fire and forget or not.
  22. Neues Interview zur F4 (jedoch die USN Version): In Folge 09 des Fighter Pilot Podcast erzählt ein F4 Pilot vom Vietnam Krieg: http://fighterpilotpodcast.com/11/009-vietnam-ace/
  24. There are some things I ran into: After saving the Lua, you have to reopen the mission. Make sure all your names of the objects are correct. I got that wrong too often ... Flight control made a good documentation and tutorials. Take one of the example missions and go through while watching a video or tutorials. For the ai dispatcher there is a good one where you can go step by step. Edit: don't get frustrated. Start with simple stuff like e.g. the spawn function. It is very rewarding to see some trucks plopping up and driving around.
