  1. High boost and low-ish RPM?yes. You can't run low RPM with high boost on a Merlin. Increase your RPM.
  2. Neither Merlin here "coughs" on startup - you can just hear some throttle adjustment on the startboard start: Here's a possibly over-primed spitfire start. No coughing, just a little low RPM: P-51, nothing really here either apart from a single exhaust pop - also seems like from an rpm/ throttle drop Even after 17 years idle this one (Griffon engine) 3:20 starts without "couging" and spluttering.
  4. AI will ONLY react at night if the mission start time is during the day. If the mission start time is at night, none of the ground or sea based AI will fire at enemies and search lights will not activate. See the two attached trk files for evidence. None of the AI works (ships, searchlights or AA guns). Night Time AI 1.trk Night Time AI 2.trk
  5. I agree. The generic skin should not have the victory markings on it.
  6. Campaign Ribbons for September have been awarded. The full investiture is posted at this location: https://stormofwar.net/forum/sowdcs/campaign-ribbons-for-september-2020/ Congrats to everyone who won a ribbon in September!
  7. TRK file attached to this reply using the Spitfire as subject aircraft. See also the slow motion video below. This is common to all warbirds - the bombs do not collide with aircraft. Spit-Bombs-Neg-G.trk
  8. This was 2017: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/upload/iblock/118/C-47_01.jpg
  9. This has to go on to the wish list, as it seems we'll never actually see it in DCS otherwise... https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/upload/iblock/7d4/C-47-02.jpg
  10. I think I requested that ED deal with the wingmen and their repeated radio calls about 2 years ago. It came to nothing. As a work around: Switch your aircraft radio over to another channel to mute them, or, if you use the Mission editor set them to radio silence.
  11. How about we get a coherent plane-set for June 1944 first, yeah?
  12. He was talking about the takeoff.. you know.. the bit that this thread is about. All that 500kph flight business is for another thread. Leave the goalposts where they are.
  13. This month it's the fourth most flown module on SoW, buy hours flown, with a figure that is very close to the 109K4 and the Spitfire - so almost tied for second spot. It has by far the most ground kills and second highest number of aerial victories on SoW as a type. https://stormofwar.info/aircraft.php Seems pretty popular to me.
  14. I found the 109 to be the easiest module to get airborne in, after the P51. Gentle on the throttle up to 1.35 or so ATA, a touch of right wheel brake for line then a smidgen of nose forward and right aileron at the fast part of the T/O roll and it gets airborne by itself. Very docile and easy to get airborne IMO. Landing is also rather pleasant too, especially if you raise the cockpit camera up a bit for forward visibility.
  15. No, not included at this point. And based on recent interview with senior ED staff, I think it'll be years before we see the assets pack fleshed out fully.
  16. Just set the delay time to a prohibitively long wait, like 99999 seconds.
  17. Seeing the Whites of his eyes is a metaphor, it's not literal. It's a reference to The Battle of Bunker's Hill during the US war for independence. It just means, get a close as you can. Nothing Braggadocio about that. In fact, I'd argue that it is the opposite because it sets the pilot up for the minimum amount of deflection required. The close you are, the less chance of missing.
  18. If you're calculating where to aim then you're doing it wrong. You get a couple of seconds to shoot at the most in combat. There's no time for "calculations". You either pull lead and hope it's enough or you do what EVERY second world war ace advised -> Get in so close that you can't miss. “TEN OF MY RULES FOR AIR FIGHTING” – Sailor Malan 1. Wait until you see the whites of his eyes. Fire short bursts of 1 to 2 seconds and only when your sights are definitely ‘ON’. 2. Whilst shooting think of nothing else, brace the whole of the body, have both hands on the stick, concentrate on your ring sight. 3. Always keep a sharp lookout. “Keep your finger out!” 4. Height gives You the initiative. 5. Always turn and face the attack. 6. Make your decisions promptly. It is better to act quickly even though your tactics are not the best. 7. Never fly straight and level for more than 30 seconds in the combat area. 8. When diving to attack always leave a proportion of your formation above to act as top guard. 9. INITIATIVE, AGGRESSION, AIR DISCIPLINE, and TEAM WORK are the words that MEAN something in Air Fighting. 10. Go in quickly – Punch hard – Get out!
  19. Это должно быть понятно
  20. Still not addressed. Bug not even identified as "reported" yet.
  21. I've been looking at "bomb in zone" bit more. It's a very problematic trigger condition because it appears to have been built on the foundation of the "missile in zone" condition. This makes it almost completely unsuitable for WW2 - or any scenario where carpet bombing or area bombing is desired by the mission maker. The reason being is that the condition is triggered every time a bomb is within the zone - no matter what altitude the bomb is at. So, if set to "once only" the trigger will fire as soon as a bomb is inside the trigger zone - whether is explodes within that zone or not. "once only " doesn't work for any kind of area bombing target either, because the event will trigger with just one bomb. Alternatively, if the "bomb in zone" trigger is based on a "switched condition" (which typically allows for a trigger to repeat time and time again) then a single bomb will trigger the condition again and again every second whilst it is falling through the air over the zone. So, a bomb dropped from 5k altitude will trigger the even 30 times on its way down (~30 second free fall time). It would be great to have a bomb-in-zone type trigger that makes sense in the WW2 context is a "bomb DETONATED in zone" OR, "bomb less than 1m AGL in zone". This would allow the trigger to fire once per bomb, rather than the extant repeated counting of the same bomb every second as it free falls A "detonation in zone" trigger would, IMO be the best solution This would mean that an incorrectly fused weapon would not trigger the condition
  22. [ALREADY REPORTED]AN-M64 bomb missing from ME triggers The AN-M64 bomb is missing from the trigger sets in the ME. The An-M57 and the An-M65 are there, but not the 64. The 64 is the main bomb carried by B17s, P47 and P51s.
  23. Nineline - Bug is still present for us. I am of the opinion that this bug is only present when running a dedicated server. 1. The Aerial AI will only engage each other at distances which are far too close, given how visible they are at this time of day 2. The AI Flak units will not engage enemy bombers which fly directly over head. Perhaps they are also set to engage only enemies which are very close? I have linked a zip file containing the mission we used to test AND the resulting TRK file. Link to zip file : https://drive.google.com/file/d/12i7T3qn8rikv7mEuGZadifg7RzzkU-LF/view?usp=sharing Video explanation - Please excuse the intermittent noises from my 3 month old baby. . .
  24. Yes Yes. I suggest reading up on "rhubarb" missions. These were low level, small formation patrols designed to find and shoot up ground targets of opportunity. Yes, that's one way to do it. How far away, in real life, can you see a grey/ dark-green painted car? There's your answer.
