No particular scenery is needed. I’ve flown Caucauses, of course we’ve seen PG, and I’ve read happy comments about NTTR. Only one left is Normandy, and I wouldn’t expect a problem there.

It depends entirely on your abilities and desires...for me, I’ve had just as much fun with FC3 aircraft as with the clickables...because the clickables require a pretty high level of eye-hand-cursor coordination. Flying high speed low level and taking my eyes of the HUD for two seconds to find and click a button often results in a “texting while driving” outcome. But if you want to try out a clickable, you can either get the most complex and interactive plane there is, or you can go with a simpler one to see if that degree of realism is for you. That’s why I suggest the F-5E as a first clickable. Flaps can be set to auto-control, weapons are set before you get in a furball, and most of the switches are on the main instrument panel. No fuss, no muss. Plus it’s a really easy plane to fly...very stable yet very maneuverable. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t enjoy DCS unless you’re clicking toggles for half the flight...you can of course, but any DCS is fun.

Select “instant action/free flight” and immediately start with an uncontrollable spin/gyration. “Pause”, then adjust axis controls, and start flying and seeing how she flies.

There are several helos available, all for purchase in the store. UH-1 KA-50 MI-8 Gazelle Couldn’t say which is best for Vegas, as I only have the KA-50 (Russian attack helo).

AV software? Audio/Visual? Several image file editors for when I'm trying skins...and VLC media player. Downloaded updater...just waiting now. I recall many months ago deciding to keep 1.5 and 2.5 and ditching Open Beta, because it wasn't working adequately (2.5 was). That's probably where things got weird.

Quick off-topic tutorial: Copy just the BOLD part of the URL, and paste in the “share YouTube link” window. That’s it. On-topic: Given that ED has probably 10,000 items on its “to-do” list, maybe someone with knowledge of how to fix the AI could gather a few DCS’ers (who also have programming knowledge) and volunteer themselves to ED’s head honchos? Maybe even prepare a list of suggested fixes, complete with written code? Similar to when someone makes a high-quality skin for a country that has that plane, but no skin has been made (until a talented player-volunteer makes it).

With a playable FPS element, I could see douches getting a few of their buddies and deploying “plane-killer” groups, made up of a humvee and a truckload of manpads, and a UHF radio (for contacting their AWACS). They’d be a bitch to find and destroy, and they’d just be wrecking everyone else’s fun.

Being prior military, there are sometimes reasons for why things are the way they are..................and even those reasons are subject to "need to know" limits.

I’m pretty sure the MiGs would go for rock-bottom prices (even though it’d beat any garden gnome in the “awesome!” dept), but it’s the shipping that’d bite ya.
