I notice most replies (including my own) are focused on hardware work-arounds... I know nothing about software mods, but perhaps you can describe what you’d like to have the mod do? You mentioned earlier about using it for “coordinated turns” and I compared that to the helo’s ability to fly sideways. My flight time in the KA50 is under 5 hours, but I know helos can do both. How would you let the computer know which one you need at that time?

GENIUS! I was wondering how to secure my feet comfortably “toes out” because my CH Pro pedals are too close together and straight up and down...I’d thought about making a triangular foot pad but was stumped by what to use for comfort and anti-slippage. Flip-flops or even “beach shoes” contact cemented to the footpads...err, feetpoods...would work perfectly!

First thing I always have to do is click on the button that centers the map on me...otherwise I have no idea where I’m looking at. (I also have the “extreme close up”/max zooooooom initial setting, which is 101% utterly useless) Problem is the button for this is in the upper left corner, and I have a 3 monitor setup so it tkes a few seconds to know where my pointer is...! Next thing I usually want is to use the “ruler” setting, so I can get direction and distance to my destination...it’s also in the upper left corner, but isn’t an intuitive icon so I have to hover over likely suspects to get the icons name. Using mouse wheel to zoom in/out requires the mouse to be on the actual map, hovering over buttons doesn’t place it correctly for this. These aren’t bugs or problems, just inefficiencies that could be fixed by creating a “right-click pull-down menu using words from the button titles. /right click/center on ac /right click/ruler /right click/red veh list/(SU25)/Uzi 1.Uzi 2.Uzi 3.Uzi 4 Etc Etc When using F10 during flight, and especially during a fight, speed = get back to F1, which increases survivability. Having right-click menus are therefore a Good Thing™.

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion

It all depends on the advantages of full fidelity vs FC3/FL...and by “advantages” I mean $€£¥R for ED. All it’d take is for a group of people to form a company, get permissions and licenses, and start working on full fidelity details... -
Drop off PBR Street Gang, load up a cow—“Rare! Rare, but not COLD!”—and break out the surf boards!

In all fairness, the US Army isn’t an air superiority/air dominance service. The USN/USMC are expected to get the A-4 by the end of October.

If it ain't the GAU-8, it may as well have a suppressor!

Ask for a wingman who's willing to fly in a training mindset. It's just as much fun, and certainly more satisfying, to bring someone up to speed imho. No shooting involved, just verbal "Ratatatat, guns kill" as well as real-time coaching in BFM.

F-5 is roughly comparable to T-38. T-37 used to be the intermediate (Prop-to-jet) jet trainer. You will probably have to use several flight sims to achieve a step-by-step USAF progression.

Today I learned that "helicopter" is a word made NOT by combining "heli" and "copter", but by combining "helico" (meaning spiral) and "pter" (meaning winged, as in pterodactyl).

Only problem with a software fix is that it would take away a large part of helicopter flight control benefits...the ability to fly sideways, for example. Of course, only you know what parameters you'd need, which are indispensable, etc. Hope someone out there can take up your wishes.... Fwiw, I have a TM T-Flight HOTAS X, and can vouch for its twist-grip and paddle-axis on the throttle. Only issue I had was the cable connecting the two parts was too short when using right-side stick and left-side throttle (with a seat in-between). Relatively easy fix found on YouTube, use two lengths of Cat-5 internet cable (which have 8 wires inside each) and splice in the length needed.

Some joysticks have a twist axis for rudder inputs...just curious, do you think that might work?
-
I have it, and if I hadn’t read anything I wouldn’t know it was “unfinished” or had problems. Yes, there are few scenarios for it, but that’s not the maps’ fault. Yes, imho it’s worth it.

Probably a flat-earther pilot. Or a hard core right wing extremist (“NO LEFT TURNS!!”)...;) Seriously, I don’t know. Could you provide a link to the video please?

Rolling the plane 90 degrees and pulling back is a high performance manuever. Because the wings aren’t perpendicular to the Earth, they won’t provide lift unless one’s speed+pulling back on the stick can generate “G” forces on the wing. Most planes aren’t rated for that, and most actual owners don’t want to pay for the repairs of that kind of maneuvering. Non-urgent flying can afford to take the time to do a 30 degree bank+slight rudder input to make a coordinated turn. I’m not an actual pilot, but I have flown via simulations.

Tiger Cruise 2018 (CVN-70, lots of images)

OMG, great pics! And you are SO f’ing lucky! Thx for sharing! -
Keyboard terminal is easy to wire once it’s built, and I like building things. Plus, a $3 keyboard with 2 terminal boards is still less than $5. But, to each their own. :)

In game, I do all the training missions for my chosen a/c several times until I’m confident in my own ability to use the basic skill. I free-flight after the lessons to gain experience at random flight levels, speed, Mk 1 eyeball target acquisition, radar, etc. I’ve noticed a difference between doing a training mission for the first time and doing an actual mission for the first time...in training I’m more focused on the switches and functionality of the systems, but in an actual mission I have to focus on the approach and employment of the entire system, which basic sys training does not do. This shows that there are at least two levels of training as well as actual experience (training is not “experience”) to create competency. I would like to see a document made of basic and advanced flying+operating skills so I can keep a orderly record of what skills I’ve learned and which ones I need more work on. It’d have check marks next to the skill, as well as an area to write notes about “a-ha!” moments as well as challenges encountered. I’d think the basic form would be universal to all a/c, and just like flight control setups the sim community could develop the individual skills needed in general and for specific aircraft or weapons. The logbook would automatically keep track of total hours, flight hours, missions, weapons used, single occupant universe vs multiplayer etc. The only thing missing would be the ready room/locker room banter that happens.

The three olive green ones have a resemblance to WW2 USAAFE tactical aircraft...I’d like to see D-Day invasion stripes on them!

Thank you Sideslip, I inverted both axis and steering was fixt! :pilotfly:

We used to rotate chess boards 90^ and even 180^ just for the “wtf am I looking at?!” effect...the Caucuses (sp?) map would feel/be experienced as a totally different map! Heck, the rotation + the Vietnam mod would be a huge step in the right direction! There are flyable F4 mods, A4 just around the corner, several MiG mods and at least one in the next couple years... Woot! Is gud, ya!

Well as of right now, simply touching the pedals results in 100% braking. And if I remember right, the brake effect is a bell curve...0 pedal = 100% braking, 50 pedal = 0% braking, 100 pedal = 100% braking. ???
