In that case should Hornet owners just buy it in preorder or wait for the release for the best discount? Frankly I don't care either way because I don't mind supporting ED, but you know you'll have torches and pitchforks if we don't know which discount is better ahead of time. Some people will preorder thinnking that will be the best discount and other will wait. Which ever way it turns out you'll have angry people in the forum...

Yea, I voted no because I didn't know about the Falklands map being developed at the time. I did a quick goodgle and said "It's uglier than an A-10! Just make a Bronco, no thanks!" But I've changed my mind and would vote for it now.

make some wwII flak avilable for cw / modern ops

You can use them now if you buy have the asset pack. -
Hi Nineline, I was wondering if we could get some clarification on the Hornet owner discount? Will it be larger or equal to the preorder discount? I assume these discounts would not stack? Basically I just wouldn't want to see Hornet owners buy it at a 30% discount on preorder and then find out Hornet owners get 40% later. I'm not explaining myself well and I doubt that would come up but it is a potential friction point.

While I think it would be an interesting and unique aircraft, I think there are better choices. Like more Vietnam era or Pacific WW2 modules as it looks like thats niche Mag3 will carve out for itself.

It is a good thing. They do good flight models and beautiful planes. Its advanced system coding that they struggle with and the Mig is relatively simple when compared to the harrier ARBS, TPOD, Etc.

This thread is in the reality subforum. Ergo it's real...

Yep, and I'm pretty thrilled about!

I'd buy it just to support the Pacific theatre. I'd like to see some major carrier battles with dive and torpedo bombers and fighters all going at it.

Panic thinking they were under attack? Maybe they were poorly trained, maybe they were told civilian traffic was grounded. And you'd still fire on a perceived enemy even if it was flying away from you. It's tragic but hardly unique. There's quite a history of Airliners accidentally being shot down. -

It's getting to be fairly obvious at this point it was a case of mistaken identity. I know no one is going to trust the US much in this situation but they're saying satellites caught the IR bloom of two missile launches followed by an impact there and spy planes saw a Tor lock the plane. They'll hand the data to Canada to make of it what they will. -
Someone can make a Brewster Buffalo so it can have a lunch to eat. Or an F4F for something a little more even.

This takes on new meaning with the Marianas map inbound.

We can safely assume its guaranteed as an AI asset but nothing that I know of has been said about making it a flyable module. Given the detail of the engine they showed under the cowling and it's place in the pacific theatre its a safe bet they plan/want to make it a full module but can't say so this early on. There may be contracts to be signed and research to be done before they can commit to it as a module.

What kind of flying do you want to? The Mig-15 and F-86 are iconic and great but aside from being perfectly matched for each other their era is underserved and their graphics are getting dated. The Mig-19 is a good module but doesn't really have any proper adversaries. If you want something Russian I'd say the Mig-21. It still looks great to me and if you employ the right tactics you can be dangerous to even the modern blufor fighters. It also is a powerful strike aircraft with the radar beam riding grohm missile. Its has alot of aerodynamic quirks and is a "pilot's Plane". If you want something truly unique there's the viggen which does one thing and it does it exceedingly well and that is fast hit and run attacks. If you want air superiority along with aerodynamic quirks and another "pilot plane" there's the F-14. The F-5 is a good module but I look at it more as an entry level plane for people going from FC3 to full fidelity. It's well matched for the mig-21 and is good if your flying as an aggressor. It's not truly competitive with modern planes but if your good and they're sloppy you can give someone a bad day.

The cold war is a very broad time frame that could include everything from the P-51 as it served in the Korean war to the F-18. So do you mean Korean era, Vietnam, or late cold war?

With several modules being able to pull F10 markpoints from the map maybe we could have the ground crew "Check map for targets" and update the missile if shut down on the ramp?

I think a much more plausible modern scenario for these Island is US forces taking them back with Harrier, Huey, 18, and 14 with red starting with the islands. And not asking how they got them... There just aren't the red navy assets to threaten them in game and the real life threats to these islands are strategic bombs and missiles. I'm really happy about the map but it will take a fair bit of suspension of disbelief.

Crew of 5, 8 engines, vastly complicated systems and electronic warfare systems. A B-52 is simply not going to happen. As far as a modern bomber the biggest we can probably hope to get is an F-111. And that's possible but not probable. The Mosquito is a twin engine WW2 light bomber and we could probably see an A-20 or maybe something on the scale of a B-25. Personally I'd like to see and A-26 because it could cover WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. As far as transport planes go that's much more likely for the sake of development roadblocks but less likely financially. I'd love a C-2 to resupply carriers but ED's focus is on WW2 and modern western fighters because that's where the most profits are. Once they run out of gen4 blufor there's probably a lot of other higher priorities before they get to cargo planes. Sorry to be a bummer, I actually would like to see them also.

If F-35's and Su-30's are too classified to be in DCS I doubt the Galactic Government will be sharing their Warp drive technology with ED in enough detail to model it to the DCS standard. I also think there would probably be some limitations to the DCS physics engine forcing an unacceptable approximation of the temporal field space folding matrices.

I don't have a problem with it if the module is completed to the promised level. Free graphical update to the H model with a paid upgrade to a N model? Sure. Paid upgrade to add multicrew and an RWR? The multicrew was part of the deal from the start and I don't care enough for an RWR. Unfortunately I don't see many upgrades they could do that wouldn't require a significant amount of work. The N model for example has two engines so that's a lot more system coding. They could upgrade it from the -13 to the -703 engine to make the super Huey but again I'm not sure the extra engine performance would justify a paid upgrade. Maybe just 5 dollars for the graphical update? It would probably be best just to make it free and keep selling them to new comers.

Deka, Just wanted to say what an impressive module this is and I'm really looking forward to whatever you do next. I have my fingers crossed for a JH-7 but I'll be thrilled with a J-8 II or Q-5 also as I'm guessing those would be you most likely projects.
