  1. The yak is a good plane that is in need of a few things... But this is the I-16 thread and it has really impressed me so far.
  2. Now that I've had some time to play with this I can say it's the plane I didn't know I needed! It's very nice and I'm having fun giving 109 pilots hell. This thing is so slow it cant get out of its own way but it turns like nobodys buisness and it puts out a crazy amount of lead.
  3. Agreed that the yak is a good trainer. But this has been extremely easy to fly and gives me a T-6 texan vibe. I think it would work fine as a trainer.
  4. Fact is we will have to suspend disbelief. They won't be able produce era correct variants so we'll use "close enough" and pretend. Cest la vie.

I saw one crop dusting in the US and asked them about the import process since the FAA is notoriously unfriendly to Russian aircraft. They told me it was not in the US it's in South America... haha
  6. I think the 60 would be boring but I'd settle for a sea sprite. How about an SH-3 or Ch-46?

  8. Frankly I don't see a few screenshots as progress. It's been modelled for a while but its been in development so long the goal posts have moved as far a quality and he's just catching up with that. The developer has said it's being coded by a different 3rd party but can't say which. So that other party obviously has their own projects which have priority. Hopefully it see the light of day and is quite good, but with as little information as we get and how similar of a mission profile it has to the Gazelle, I just wouldn't bother thinking about it all that much. If it comes out great if not oh well. Fly the Gazelle until then.
  9. I'd rather see module or map prices go up to support assets than asset packs themselves. I really see them as splintering the player base. Work deserves to be paid for, but I don't like seeing people left out because they don't have the assets or squadrons end up not using them at all so everyone with the bird can play.
  10. To the I-16 Devs, I picked up the I-16 today to help support you guys as I want to see DCS grow. It's not an aircraft I'm particularly interested in but I would love to see you bring your AN-2 over to DCS. I took the 16 for a quick trip around the pattern though and she looks and flies nice. Anyway welcome aboard and congratulations on your first DCS release!
  11. I can still enjoy the Yak, but between it and the GPS add on I'm not happy with the progress.
  12. Well I fly civil sims and I agree its lacking in some areas but consider it superior in others. In any case obviously we're not going to agree but there are fair arguments on both sides.
  13. The point isn't to get DCS players to buy civilian planes and make a few more dollars. It's to get civ sim players to buy DCS planes and make a lot more dollars for exactly the reason you describe. Bigger player base means more development for DCS.
  14. Combat is why I'm here too, I just mean people get all hung up on the name when it's capable of being both the best Combat and civilian flight sim at the same time.
  15. With xplane getting native VR support I decided to give her a try again. And it just doesn't hold a candle to DCS... Yes the world is bigger but that's it. I'd be happy to see some GA in DCS. We already have a smidge of it. In my okpinion the d C!!!!!! s people need to chill out. They're so worried about resources being drawn away from their pet project they want to see done when it could dramaticly increase the total amount of resources available to DCS. I want to see it remain primarily a combat game too, but a Cessna 172 with a damage model would be cool.
  16. They're fun to fly and would give the F-86/Mig-15 something to protect/attack. And I know a guy with a few sitting around for reference. I know, it would never sell enough. Just dreaming.
  17. haha, I couldn't do any better but that artist did NOT do her justice.
  18. @Nineline, thats cheating! haha @Yeti, Next time you get the itch to buy one think about the C-101. It's a great little aircraft, but i really enjoy the light attack and counter insurgency stuff. I have every aircraft module though and I don't try to stay up to speed on all of them. I find the key is to have your favorties that you master and slowly rotate through the others. Flying the different mission profiles and in different era's helps keep DCS fresh. It takes me about a week to get up to speed in a module and then the next time you come back around to it it goes quicker. It's also good to be part of a squadron. Scheduled events will some times call for a few people to fly a more obscure airframe and if you volunteer for that spot and spend the week leading up to the mission practicing its a good way to get back into your dustier planes.
  19. Strongly disagree.
  20. Octopus G (working on the I-16) has one for another sim that they've said they'll consoder bringing over.
  21. Sounds like the BN will be a more complicated job then the rio. I wonder if jester is up for it?
  22. Thanks for the update. Thrilled for the F-8!
  23. Given the time scales of development and what is already in the pipeline it would be probably 2 years until you even see a C-130 3D model. Don't plan on any news soon.
  24. I'm eagerly awaiting it as well. At least this was though we can have confidence in it's quality when it does arrive.
