From every account I have heard or read, it isn't the best feature of the plane, and it isn't really liked very much. It was probably refined for later Mirage 2000N and Mirage 2000D. But it is what it is. Don't expect "RNP 1" routing That being said, if you activate it from the previous waypoint, not too far off course, or should work fine to keep you on track... It's rather a "tactical tool" than "IFR tool".

Waiting for the ATC to give QNH/ QFE pressure in hPa, you will need this table. And you need to set the altimeter to QFE to use correctly the synthetic runway. Edit: link to mod with QFE + ILS airports data M-2000C ILS data for PCN input (digitalcombatsimulator.com)

No, you said Mirage F1 is lighter and almost same T/W ratio. Mirage F1 is roughly the same weight as Mirage 2000, and with weaker engine, the T/W is nowhere near the numbers you gave. I don't know what weight or thrust you used for these T/W ratio ?

The changes the name of some controls at some point, but the logic behind it didn't really changed. The HOTAS is really easy and remember, much more more than the Hornet. Sure the 2005 Hornet we have in game is more capable than the Mirage 2000C RDI from late 1980' - early 1990'. It's a matter of time period.

Yes, it's coming with the next update. (From Discord) Edit: oops, I was late

That's a bug that is waiting the next update to be corrected...

There is a new coder at work, and a big update coming for April 7th. Wait for it...

RD mode (Route Désirée) ILS with synthetic runway (can be input in flight PCN for any airport with ILS, doesn't need to be landing waypoint in ME anymore).
-
Actually, the AoA in the HUD isn't realistic, but it's a relief when you play on screen. In VR, with binocular vision, you can read it with you left high while your right high can read the G gauge.

To make a summary of some the advice above: - try to land below 11t - flare gently passing 30ft - extend speed brake on touch down. Even the best can bounce from time to time, don't be ashamed

What you're talking about the Skyhawk is called "terrain following", so yes, this is different Terrain avoidance: Prepare your navigation, and say that during that leg between 2 waypoints you are flying at a specific altitude. Terrain avoidance allows you to check that you are clear of obstacles. Terrain following: It does allow you to fly the aircraft to stay at a specific height above the ground. So you can fly the aircraft in the vertical plan. The next step is automatic terrain following (Mirage 2000N & D).

The advertised mode on Discord was Terrain Avoidance (DEC button on PCR).

Thanks for the input I was also wondering about the trick to sustain M0.99 like on the picture above. Probably no external tank though...
-
Yep, something like that ? But I think this is a very specific case where the plane needs burners to get there and then can sustain it in MIL power (and light configuration).
-
I started FL360 with empty external tank (to simulate start up, take off and climb). Then I climbed with burners to FL450. Indeed, with the external tank it will slow down. I dropped the bag, the plane settled speed as you can see in attached pictures. But if you want to fly high, you will better from FL360 to FL400 than above.
-
No, that is weird, you should be able to cruise at MIL power. But doing a 180° turn without burners would take ages.
-
Yes sure, you can cruise that high (which is already not that bad), but you will have very little turning margin.
-
Yes, you wanted to establish a cap pattern at FL450 If you fly that high, it's just for straight path. Find me another fighter in game performing CAP pattern at FL450... So flying that high depends on you weight. What was your weapon load and fuel state ?
-
Hey guys, don't you need to know the thrust to compute SFC from fuel flow ? Then how do you know the thrust at 30 000ft ? Because the higher you fly, the less thrust you have. And the thrust also changes with the speed. So if you are taking bench thrust data, you got it wrong. Hornet has the highest fuel fraction of your test and the lowest top speed.

investigating AIM-7 not guiding on launch ? - UPDATE WITH TRACK & TacView
jojo replied to jojo's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Like Ironhand. I have a paid license, but it doesn't work with full fidelity modules, only FC3. I provided a YouTube video of the engagement. Each time I played the mission, it did happen the same. The HUD target box clearly follows the MiG-29. -
investigating AIM-7 not guiding on launch ? - UPDATE WITH TRACK & TacView
jojo replied to jojo's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
On another forum someone just confirmed the same with F-14. And despite STT lock and missile launch, the MiG-29 doesn’t try to avoid the missile which is targeting another aircraft. Every single time I fly this mission, the result is the same, and I have confirmations by other users on YouTube, Discord and Checksix forum. Edit: I have been able to fly the same mission with F-14B, and I have to admit that the AIM-7M did track and hit the intended (MiG-29 leader). And this time the MiG-29 did try to avoid the missile. So it seems the problem may not be the missile, but Hornet radar which is showing one target locked and guiding the missile on another one. In my Hornet flight I begin to asses the situation in TWS, soft lock the MiG-29 leader, then transition to STT with Sensor Control Switch Right. The target bow remains on the MiG-29. A crank to the left then recommit on the right confirms that the HUD target box is on the MiG-29 and not on a Su-24 behind.
