You can read the description of this video. It was made 2 years ago with DCS Mi-24 already in mind
  2. I'm not sure I'm following you here. If you are enabling the INS drift (no embedded GPS on Mirage 2000C), you will have to put eyes on target or initial point to be able to attack
  3. Yes I do, Rift S. On the Caucasus free flight I had between 20fps to 40fps. Nothing much happen and I would normally get solid 40fps with jets (M-2000C, Hornet & Tomcat).
  4. As a summary, there is nothing wrong with wanting a Fox 3 shooter Mirage 2000-5F. It would be a different way to do air defense but still with a Mirage 2000 airframe. But the problem for Razbam is access to data. Jet fighters aren't designed for our personal entertainment in the first place. These are sensitive matters, and Mirage 2000-5F is still a first line air defense asset for France. Mirage 2000C is a fine Fox 1 shooter in his own right. Yes a Fox 1 shooter is more dependent on team work and this is up to you. Playing lone wolf is more difficult. On the other hand, the Mirage 2000C has never been intended or put in front of NATO Fox 3 shooters. So blame the mission designer if it's the case. On some PvP server the M-2000C is put as a substitute to full fidelity red fighters. So you know what you're going into. I think that PvE are better for historical context missions, and you would probably find that kind of action inside virtual squadrons. The only way out would be a true dynamic campaign like-the-other-sim-we-are-not-allowed-to-talk-about. The 2 forces are fighting with what they have, no matter what. And you just jump inside to take a slot and maybe customize mission and payload.
  5. You are confusing variants. Mirage 2000-5F is specifically the French variant. These are upgraded Mirage 2000C, with the same engine. C ECM is also kept but adapted to work with RDY. Not a pound for air to ground on these birds. Likewise Mirage 2000-5 EI for Taiwan and Mirage 2000-5 EDA don't do air to ground. It seems to me that the only air to ground role for Greek Mirage 2000-5Mk2 is SCALP mission. I didn't any picture of targeting pod in Greek service. They have loads of F-16 variants for that. U.A.E. Mirage 2000-9 and Indian Mirage 2000 I do have targeting pod. Export customers of Mirage 2000-5 are even more shy than French Air Force to share data about their jets. Just for fun, try to find good stuffs about U.A.E. F-16 Block 60... Apart from quite scarce F-16A Block 15 ADF for US ANG in 1989 with IFF interrogator and AIM-7M Sparrow, the Mirage 2000C is superior in AA. Mostly, F-16A didn't have Fox 1.
  6. I don’t think that in DCS the RCS would change depending on wing sweep ! Are you sure they didn’t got out of scan elevation ?
  7. Going that way, once you have the F/A-18C Hornet, everything else feels just "more of the same".
  8. Yesn but that implies a totally new weapon system, it isn't just Mica being hanged under Mirage 2000C. New radar, new cockpit, new weapon system. The module would sell like hot cake (pre-order day one for me), but the problem is agreement and access to data...
  9. Yes, they are pushing hard to finish the M-2000C already. For any other variant they would need the support of French Air Force to get access to the necessary data. It isn't about the module we want, it is about what they can have access to And you won't find the necessary data just by searching on Google...
  10. East Germany MiG-23.
  11. I don't even what you're talking about ? I can nail down trucks in CAS mode (Canon Air Sol = AG gun) but also in AA gun mode. The thing is you must wait to be in good range, less than 900m in AA gun, and it's easier below 600m. 30 × 113 mm rounds do punch hard on target but are relatively slow (muzzle velocity = 815 m/s).
  12. The cockpit is pressurised, so you should check your cockpit altitude. Yes very high like 40 000ft I think the pilot should need the 0² mask. But at altitudes like 20 000ft or 30 000ft, probably not that much. You can flind some videos of pilots having fun in flight and even removing the mask or helmet during cruise... During long missions they would also have to remove the mask to eat or drink. PS: cross posting, sorry
  13. Why do you suppose the contrary ?
  14. Mirage III in action https://youtu.be/1b2UvTZWRWA
  15. I find the F-16 DED too clunky and painful to use. But I'm just a desktop virtual warrior. You can probably get the hang of it with enough training Having 3 MFD is certainly a good thing compared to 2 MFD on most F-16...you have more options to manage your system. Yet the HOTAS system maybe is easier on F-16.
  16. Oh god, thank you ! It doesn't makes sense to compare range at MIL power or AB power. You shouldn't cruise at MIL power, you should throttle down and you will see a huge gain in fuel efficiency for maybe losing 0.1 point of Mach. Different planes have different cruise profile. FPAS page is great on the Hornet. Maybe F-16 have something similar through the DED menu, I'm not sure and if yes I don't know if it's available in DCS. But that's one of Hornet avionics' advantage: it's very well thought for navigation and fuel management. Indeed, the Hornet would cruise slower than the Falcon. So if you want to compare, compare with optimum cruise profile, maybe add 1mn of burner and that's it. Strike payload: I would suggest 2*tanks, 2*GBU-31, 2*GBU-31, 2*AIM-9, 2*AIM-120. So for the Hornet it would mean AMRAAM on cheek stations and for F-16 on wing tip rails. It would be the optimal for both. For drag you should also add jammer pod to F-16 (internal jammer on Hornet). If the jammer pod isn't available yet, put a targeting pod on F-16. I'm not so sure the Hornet would have a massive advantage if any. But it isn't that bad even if not enough to US Navy's taste
  17. Are you kidding ? Wing tanks are "welded" to F-16. It would go nowhere without it, especially with big engines when you light the burner. They even ended up adding CFT on late F-16 variants. So that's a draw. IRL both fly with external tanks...
  18. ED is suppose to make a DTC (data cartridge) one day for the Hornet. We can hope other modules may take advantage of it. They also talked about: - built in voice coms with radio features (SRS external application). - briefing room (VNAO Ready Room mod) In the meantime, luckily all these mods are free.
  19. Yep, Razbam managed to find a French coder, so the communication with French Air Force EC 2/5 squadron still flying the Mirage 2000C RDI is facilitated, no language barrier anymore. And he is working only on this module right now. MyHelljumper who is doing the community manager role for M-2000C also knows very well the module. So it's a little weird, but the module is undergoing a full overhaul 5 years after release. Each system depth of simulation is increased. It isn't completely different, but many new details and limitations are added.
  20. This is a minor one, but I can't figure out... From time to time, I like to record gameplay with Nvidia Shadow Play to share with some friends through YouTube. I have a 1080p monitor, and I moved the task bar to the side so the mirror view could get the full height of the screen. Since DCS 2.7.1, that mirror view only is 1078p high. I can see the missing 2 lines below the mirror view. It isn't happening on other tasks. So when it goes to YouTube, it's downsized to 720p, losing picture quality in the process.
  21. You have a setting also in Oculus DebugTool. On my side I battled to get rid of it, I had the mask with option set to off in DCS.
  22. No, just French and following the module since day 1 I follow the news, even when I don't "fly". So when I get back to the sim, I know what to expect. M-2000C is my bread and butter so to speak
  23. Do as you want, you can edit it DiCE: DCS Integrated Countermeasure Editor v4.2 by Bailey (F18C, F16C, A10C, A10C2, AV8B, M2000C) (digitalcombatsimulator.com) And you have 112 chaffs by default !!!
  24. From doctrinal point of view, in AA, with GCI or AWACS support, fighters would react based on aspect and range. They would rather pre-flare or pre-chaff when in range than wait for missile shot. Off course, if they detect launch against them, they would do reactive chaff/ flare too. DDM was rather meant to detect MANPADs, often unexpected. In DCS we don't have the Mirage 2000N K2, so you can always pretend to be a "Mud" for gameplay, and use DDM when doing AG. And at the end, it's just a game, so use DDM whenever you feel like it. But be aware that DDM will probably not warn you against BVR shot. The system is detecting missile's engine. With long range shot, the missile is incoming engine off.
  25. No, it could have been mounted on Mirage 2000C, but the one you see equipped with DDM is a Mirage 2000N. To this day, not a single evidence of DDM on Mirage 2000C, but it's acknowledged on Mirage 2000N & Mirage 2000D. I also found a document saying that the Mirage 2000N needed an ECM upgrade to use it. They equipment was planned from the beginning, then put on hold to save money...and resurrected after several close calls (Etendard IV P hit, Mirage IV P hit but missile didn't detonate) and Mirage 2000N K2 #346 C/S "EBRO 33", squadron 2/3 Champagne, shot down during operation Deny Flight over Bosnia, on August 30th 1995 near Pale.
