Copy that. Anyone know what happened to those RFP's from India? Was the order canceled - or if not, when are they expected to be delivered?
-
From what I can tell - the Russian Airforce operates 16-18 KA-50 helicopters today. And then there is also this: Make of that as you wish. I wouldn't call a helo being in active duty, and almost 400 ordered a "fantasy"
-
Your ideas of the development of the KA-52 seemes misguided, in my humble opinion. According to my sources, Kamov didnt "ditch" the KA-50. There simply was no orders on it. And they didnt develop the KA-52 because "it was too much for one person to handle the KA-50" According to the tests performed in Chechnya, the pilots were comfortable with the work load and the tests were very positive. The thing is, Kamv wanted to develop a "Command and Reconissance Helicopter" and the lack of funds ment that they were not able to develop a completly new helicopter from scratch - but instead decided to modify the KA-50. The Difference between the KA-50 and KA-52 is far, from as you deescribe (intentionally or not) just a second pilot. The KA-52 has many, MANY systems that the KA-50 has not. As it was intended as a Recon & Command Helo, it has not only radar for both air and ground targetets, but also advanced systems for command, control and fire control systems. he helicopter also integrates a FAZOTRON cabin desk radio-locator and navigation and attack system for helicopters (NASH). - Whatever that means. Other than that, there are som minor other differences (such as the ejection seat upgrade, from K-37-800 to K-37-800M) and from what I can tell - the KA-52 has different engines than KA-50 (From what I can find, it says that the KA-52 was upgraded with 2 × Klimov VK-2500 turboshaft engines - but no mention of what the Engines were before that) The extra workload of operating radar and FAC duties, ment that there was need for a second pilot - none of that is related to the workload in the actual KA-50 > it was the added systems that required it. And the KA-50 was not "ditched" It's just that the Navy chose the KA-52 as their new helo, whilst the Army (?) went for the Mi-28 Edit: Further reading about the even more updated KA-52K version, ordered by the Navy. Article was written 2012: Edit 2: Interesting reading: https://thaimilitaryandasianregion.wordpress.com/2015/11/09/ka-52-alligator-attack-helicopters/

It's 326 Megabytes...

I suppose an "Elephant" would not fit there, because it was a German tank - and this theatre was one in which the germans did not fight. So that means it would be a map in the pacific area. As much as this is my suspicion, it is also my hope. I long for a green map with turquoise seas, white beaches and palm trees. Green. Much green. Enough brown sand already :D

I am not sure you guys are aware of the fact that you can equip NVG's in the Black Shark. There are also two knobs (three in fact) that allows you to adjust Shkval saturation and contrast. (the third adjusts NVG gain) Combined with the NVG's she has a pretty decent night attack capability against stationary targets. I fail to see the problem, even though a FLIR system would be a nice addition. If it's realistic
-
What? KA-50 cant survive a modern battlefield? Dude - I have to force myself to fly something else, since it almost feals OP with the Black Shark. I can demolish an enemy with no problems. It can fly low and neutralize huge SAM-sites. SA-3, SA-8, SA-11, SA-10 doesnt matter. If you know what you are doing and have some intel and cautoin - they are doomed! I have shot down Cobras, Hueys, Mi-8's, Mi-24's other KA-50s and Some A-10's If you set the Shkval to AA mode and use your HMS it is not that hard to get a lock. I mean - it's up to each and everyone, what you want to buy or not buy. I for one wouldn't cry rivers if we didnt get a FLIR. The Shkval combined with NVG's is good enough. It gets the job done

#Wingmen 3 Ka-50's with Vikhrs 1 KA-50 with Iglas #Problemsolved

Stop thinking in Rambomode and bring a couple of wingmen. You can have 16 pylons in squadron. What did you think all those datalink gizmos was all about? :D

It *could* be a placeholder - or as hinted by a poster above, maybe an earlier render?

Are those IR/CCD sensors near wheel wells?

You could *almost* call it SEAD capable for IR missiles  -

I find this part incredably interesting: -
First> I can't Imagine why you would even MENTION something that you paid for TEN YEARS AGO. I mean come on people. You have probably upgraded your hardware five times since then. It's not like we are paying a fortune here. I can only speak for myself and I am more than happy to pay for all these new things. It's a decade since BS1 came out and sooo much water have flown under the bridges since then. I mean... I pay more for a saturday out with the boys than I pay for a DCS modue so... yeah Second: I am *pretty sure* that on one of the pictures shown, you can see two Igla's mounted on the inner Pylons. If this means that you can take 12 Vikhrs + 4 Iglas - that would be a sweet loadout. 8 Iglas on the two outer oylons and rockets would be a pretty cool wing-commander loadout as well. Soooo happy and excited for theese news - its LOADS more than I would ever have dreamed of - seeing as how they previously said that we would not get MWS and AA missiles. This is a day to be remembered :sorcerer:

What's all this about? Wasn't it supposed to be the J-35 Draken?? #disappointed

And so, the HYpetrain died out before it really began. Just as planned...

Dropping bombs from the Mi-8 is one of my favorite activities in DCS Wold! Load up with six times FAB-250 - set release switch to single - overfly your targets and release with 1-2 seconds spacing... It doesnt take tha tmuch practive untill you start hitting your targets on a regular basis. I personlly blew up TWO friends in Hueys, while they were trying to land on the Stennis in bad weather
-
Probably flooded engines. Try closing the fuel cut off valves, then set the starter switch to crank, and then start the engines a couple of times. I have struggled with this myself, and sometimes it works, sometimes it dont. I usually run a full crank startup three times. This is the proceedure i learned with the KA-50, and it works well on that module.

Not in any of the three editors I have tested
-
I struggled a little with MiG-21 landings in the beginning What I did was just take off - orbit the airfield - then come down - repeat I struggled untill I realized there is a maximum recommended fuel. When I started to burn some fuel off before attempting to land - it became easy as pie. Make sure you are not landing on a full tank, and it will be a breeze

Since last patch. If you take control of the Doorgunner - the 12.7 KORD MG only fires a single shot, per trigger pull. Tested in MP envoriment, with three separate clients.

If you have a JTAC lasing a target on code 1113, it will show up on your HUD

missing info Low Resistance of Mi-8
Grodlund replied to edokg's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Signed I dont get the feeling that it's not sturdy. I usually survive hits from MANPADS for example. The feeling I get is that the engines are bullet magnets to small arms fire. As have been mentioned many times. Every dude with a automatic rifle will shoot out your engines, even from maximum range, and while you are moving at 200 - 250 kmh There is a HUGE cargo cabin, that you'd think is most likely to get hit. But every single 5.45 or 5.56 round seemes to find its way into your engines and set them on fire. definantly needs to be looked at -
F-16 details announced so far: Mi-24 details announced so far: Adding to that, simple questions are deleted from Facebook - and they ask us why we are "grumpy"

ED is now deleting Mi-24 comments from their FB posts. It's KGB all over again  :helpsmilie:
