The F-18 sucks in A-A against anything. It's not very fast. Doesn't accelerate very fast, and it can't pull more than 7.5 G. The only chance is to somehow make it to the merge and force the fight slow. VIPER FTW! :D

NOOO! I hate subscription based software! Single biggest reason i stopped using pro tools. Subscription model is a money machine for the companies that use that model. There is absolutely nothing to gain as a user. It works with newspapers and media like that where you get a new one everyday, but that is not the case with software. The reason why so many software developers have shifted is because there is more to gain. They of course don't do it if they loose money. :)

The walleye is oooold! Found this piece of info. Electro-optical [EO] sensors such as used on Walleye depend on both light and optical contrast for target searching and identification. This obviates their use at night and in significantly adverse weather or visual conditions where the line of sight to a target was obscured. The requirement for visual contrast between the target and its immediate surroundings imposed problems during Desert Storm. For Walleye delivery, F/A-18 pilots reported that a target was sometimes indistinguishable from its own shadow. This made it difficult to reliably designate the actual target, rather than its shadow, for a true weapon hit. The the low-light conditions at dawn and dusk often provided insufficient light for the required degree of optical contrast. A "haze penetrator" version of Walleye used low-light optics to see through daytime haze and at dawn and dusk, permitting use in some of the conditions in which other optical systems were limited.

Come to think of it, this also happened to me the other day. I didn't recall going to weapons view but somehow i ended up on a slammer I had just launched.

One of the F keys will do this in combination with a modifier. Might be F6+ ALT/CTRL/SHIFT. Try those combinations in control settings to see what comes up. IIRC its a toggle, so you have to press again to turn off.

I think reading the manual will make the sim more enjoyable for you. At least watch the mini update vids posted by wags to get a basic understanding. Otherwise I could imagine that you could feel a bit lost. I mean this in the nicest possible way. :)

Watch wags video in the mini updates thread regarding this. Dunno know if this is mentioned in the manual though. Turn off LTWS for RWS and it wont happen. Working as intended.

Don't rearm during alignment and remember to switch to NAV before starting to taxi. Otherwise INS will be screwed.

It's not a look-down radar. If you are good and the radar is not too cluttered up you are able to distinguish a target from clutter, but it's not easy. It's not a very good search radar.

I'm convinced (based on nothing of course) that the next one, finally will be a russian fighter. Putin has opened up his heart and given ED permission to model flying machines from the motherland. :)

It's because of the scan logic of the radar. In SAM the radar will visit the bugged target at intervals but won't center the elevation on said target, and further more the elevation is now locked (which I think it shouldn't be) to whatever it was when you transitioned to SAM. In TWS the radar will center both elevation and azimuth on your bugged target, hence the bandit will have a harder time escaping. Someone said somewhere on here that SAM features were not finished yet.
