Hi Bob, Based on input from the pilots, you much more feel the gear being cycled than hear it. Thanks

[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE] Boresight stuck about 10-15 degrees down.
Wags replied to Capn kamikaze's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks for the report. I'm unclear exactly what you mean. Can you please explain in more detail? Images or a video/track file would help. Thanks -
Thank you for the track. Can you please create a track that has high AoA stutter in a less dense object area? I suspect the stutters you are seeing are due to the object density rather than AoA. Sorry, but I cannot reproduce this in our internal version. Thanks

Hi everyone, It's a small thing, but something many of you have asked for: we have added an option in the Options / Special Tab of the F-16C to select between the gold tint and transparent canopy. Based on talks with SMEs, around 2007 the USAF/ANG started using the transparent canopies and phasing out the gold tint. Both have the same RCS reduction properties. We hope you enjoy the option to have both! Also on the Viper front the next update: 1- Continued work on the Dogfight switch functions 2- Addition of the DLZ to the radar page, Dogfight HUD, and HMCS 3- Fix incorrect IFF ID in network play 4- Adding new interactive training missions 5- Adjusted horizon line when on the Persian Gulf map 6- Adding flight to refuel commands We also hope to provide 1- Many new skins that will first focus on actual USAF/ANG Blk 50 operators 2- Steering cue adjustments 3- Next phase in damage modeling 4- Better accounting for wind in the flight dynamics Please note that these are not promises, they are simply to let you understand that these are the items that we are working on. Thanks, Wags

DCS: F-16C Viper – Stored Heading INS Alignment In a previous video we discussed the normal (NORM) Inertial Navigation System (INS) alignment in the Viper. I also mentioned a Stored alignment but misspoke regarding the need to update/confirm the LAT and LONG. This video is provided to help better understand starting the F-16C using a stored heading alignment. Thanks
-
DCS: F-16C - INS NORM Alignment Update In a recent DCS: F-16C Viper update, we updated how the alignment of the INS NORM (normal) system works to be more realistic. When performing a cold start, you must either enter or confirm the latitude and longitude coordinates of your aircraft on the INS DED page within two minutes after starting a NORM alignment. This is required for not only for correct navigation data, but also correct display of information on the HUD. This video is provided to better help understand this. Thanks

Wags original landing tutorial vs DCS in game tutorial
Wags replied to SmoglessPanic's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Hi guys, I've talked with Viper pilot friends of mine about this, and I spent a few hours in an F-16 simulator at the AZ ANG with Viper IPs over my shoulder yelling at me. It all comes down to two things: - Roll out on the downwind with the wing tip just below the runway. - At the perch, be at 1.5k AGL between 210 and 180 kts with the landing area 45-degrees behind you. How you get there is up to the pilot and different pilots have different technique. There is no one, single "right" answer. A lot is variable depending on weight, entry speed, creating proper separation with other flight members, etc. Thanks -
Hey everyone, It will vary between monitors and personal taste, but for me, I use 1.8. Thanks

[CANT REPRODUCE] Viper Losing Speed Too Fast
Wags replied to AlexCaboose's topic in Bugs and Problems
The F-16 E-Ms are publicly available, the Hornet's are not. Let's stay on topic please re G effect. There are other threads about it. Thanks -
[CANNOT REPRODUCE] Datalink help starting from ground
Wags replied to Speedywrx's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
When you are performing the INS alignment, remember to select both the LAT and LONG and press ENT within two minutes after starting the alignment. If not, you'll be in a degraded INS state. I just tested this and it's working fine here. Thanks -
[CANT REPRODUCE] Viper Losing Speed Too Fast
Wags replied to AlexCaboose's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hello, No, if fact it is exactly as it is in DCS now. Note that I turned off the G effect. You can check these all for yourself publicly available supplemental document. Except or a slight Ps energy loss above Mach 1.1 around 8k ft MSL (you should never being doing BFM at such speeds), all of the turn performance and acceleration rates match very closely the published data for the Greek F-16C with the GE -129 engine from sea level to 60,000 feet. As mentioned earlier, we are working on a series of reports / graphs that compare the game data to real world data in regards to flight models and missile performance. We'll let the data speak for itself. Please don't take this wrong way (not at all meant as a slight), but the problem I most often see if folks not flying the aircraft correctly to maximize performance. Thanks -
No, there have been no changes to the Hornet FM. Once our engineer working on the Viper and Hornet targeting pods has completed the next tasks for those, he will return to the Hornet FM. Thanks

Hey everyone, The guys at Vipergear were kind enough to send me one of their F-16C ICP v2 to hear my thoughts. It was not sent for a review or any sort of promotion. However, I was so impressed with it, I wanted to pass along my thoughts. The build quality is exceptional, and it was recognized by DCS without a hitch. I was then able to easily create a 1 to 1 profile for the real F-16C ICP and a bastardized profile for the Hornet. All the commands (axis and buttons) were recognized properly. It’s a very different, and GREAT, experience to have such tactile feedback. Well done guys. I will have my F-16C and F/A-18C ICP profiles integrated into DCS such that it will be 100% plug and play for those two aircraft. Thanks, Matt

Folks, it's just an AIM-7M loaded on a Hornet with a Supercarrier deck crewman. Nothing to read into it. AIM-7P is still on the to-do list, but a very low priority compared to other features. Thanks

Hey everyone, Probably the most wanted new feature of the Viper is the radar-directed gunsight. After all, there is not much more fun than BFM in a Viper! Today, we completed the first pass of the system, and it's working quite well. However, it does need extensive testing before we can roll it into an Open Beta. For the Viper version we are simulating, it uses the EEGS Level 5 sight (not the old LCOS) that combines the funnel with a radar-directed gun pipper for accuracy, even at max range. It also includes the Attitude Awareness Arc (AAA), the Ghost Horizon Line (GHL), Bullet At Target Range (BATR) cue, Multiple Reference Gunsights (MRGS), T-Symbol (Foresight Cue for Hornet pilots), the Aspect Angle On EEGS TD Arc, and more. Here is a real-world video that is rather close to the version of the radar-directed gun HUD we are implementing. I hope to provide a video of this in operation this weekend. Thanks, Wags
-
Yes, it is very clear in the reference doc. Thanks
-
In the next Open Beta, we'll be adding the momentary toggle function of the AIM-9 between bore and slave modes. When the cursor switch is not pressed, the seeker is in slave mode, and it will slew to the radar designated target. If the switch is depressed and held, it is in bore mode, and it will lock based on what the seeker sees in its FoV. If the switch is released, it will revert back to slave mode and break any bore lock. Thanks
-
If you slew the pod from a designated point or from VVSLV, it does not move anything on the HUD. However, once you designate a point as an OAP, the designation diamond on the HUD updates to that location (where the pod is looking). I'll create a video once it's a bit further along to make this more clear. It's quite easy to use. Please note that we updated rule 1.16 to be a lit less strict. Even so, you can just send as a PM. Thanks
-
Correct Pimp. This was a very early payload option prior to release, that we later realized it was invalid. Thanks

Hi everyone, Earlier, we made the false assumption that there would be some sort of unique FLIR LOS indication on the HUD. However, after a thorough review of several excellent sources, it is clear that our assumption was mistaken. There is in fact no unique FLIR LOS HUD indication. Instead, it is either indicated by the TVV when in VVSLV mode, the CCIP pipper when in CCIP mode, or the designated target/waypoint indication if the FLIR is slaved. If there is credible information that contradicts this, please feel free to PM myself or one of our community managers. Thanks

Training missions, and all missions, are a feature of the aircraft modules. We will include some missions in DCS: F/A-18C Hornet that uses Supercarrier. Thanks
-
We are working on a solution to make it available on Steam as a pre-order with the same discounts. When we have more news, we look forward to sharing it. Thanks

Hey everyone, With the holidays behind us, the team is back at work on the Viper. Here is a list of the tasks the team is currently working on. Although the following are being worked on, we cannot promise that all will be ready for the next Open Beta: The radar directed gun sight is working great internally based on EEGS Level 5 sighting. It is very stable and practically a sniper weapon. Starting tomorrow, the team will be creating the dogfight HUD (Attitude Awareness in DGFT). The afterburner effect has been greatly improved. Quite a blow torch now! Fuel flows have been tuned to be more accurate based on available data. Turn performance further adjusted regarding over Mach 1 below 8,000 ft MSL. Wind is better accounted for in the flight model and displayed air speeds. Several updates to the INS and alignment system. Corrected PPLI display in network play. Updates to the AIM-120 that include launch delay and HUD cue centering in the TD box. Added ILS declutter function. Adjusted the command steering cue localizer to be less sensitive. Corrected AA TCN error. Added further functions to the Link 16 system. Added cursor switch depress to switch between AIM-9 BORE and SLAVE modes. There are many more, and these will be listed in the change log for the next Open Beta. Once we have the new dogfight HUD working, I’ll be creating a new video that explains it, and displays the accuracy and ease of use of EEGS Level 5. After the next update is completed, we’ll discuss the next set of new features and changes planned for the Viper. Thanks, Wags

Hey everyone, Now that everyone is back from holiday, work has resumed in force on the Hornet. Here is a list of the tasks the team is currently working on for the next Open Beta release. Please note though that not all of these items may make the new Open Beta (a lot will depend on internal testing results): The radar directed gun sight has been updated to make it much more stable and accurate. It feels like a new weapon! I plan to create a video on this soon. AIM-9X and JHMCS tones have been corrected. A lot of work is being put on the targeting pod pointing modes. This includes slave to CCIP and AUTO points and the slave to the velocity vector. This should greatly improve targeting with the pod. Missile Rmax between the HUD and DDI have been adjusted. We are adding the ability to mount the targeting pod on the station 4 cheek station. In order to do this correctly, we must first recreate the 3D model of the pod because the current model does not support this (cooling intake is on the wrong side of the pod). Corrected the B-sweep line. Added fly-out symbols for TWS mode. Corrected menu freeze that could potentially happen with GPS weapons. There will be more items and they will all be included in the change log. Once this release is complete, we’ll talk about the next series of additions and changes. Thanks, Wags
