  1. Asus software is not necessary just exit ai suite or whatever and see if it helps :)
  2. I have posted a few times about a fix I found. Ccleaner and asus software where causing stutters. Stopping the relevant service or exiting via the tool tray was the answer. It took a lot of troubleshooting though and a complete system upgrade  Also try disabling swap file. Presumambly the DCS software is running on SSD's too?
  3. Definite improvement with latest patch 2x MSAA gives no loss of frames :)
  4. You can use the SDK tool but DCS has an option to increase the PD in the options
  5. Indeed your PC is more than capable of running DCS on high settings and a PD of at least 1.5 I am unsure how SLI preforms but hey 2 cards are sure to help push those pixels Let us know how you get on if you buy a rift and what your impressions are :)
  6. Hello, the VR experience will be dependant on your hardware. I got the Rift Christmas 2016 and since then I have upgraded my GPU to a 1080 and then upgraded my rig to the one you see in my sig. I can't fly 2d anymore because of the immersion factor of VR but your not getting 1080p resolution by a long stretch :) This is a drawback for some and the price of early adoption. New higher resolution devices are rumoured to be in the pipeline possibly this year but nothing AFAIK is official. If you can try on before you buy great but it is a gamechanger and if you have only looked around with a hat switch prepare to be blown away. Oh and I find it fairly easy to see the cockpit guages/dials etc VR also has a zoom function which can prove useful :) Feel free to ask anything else you may want to know
  7. I should charge ASUS for a new tube. It was seating the cpu twice on the borked board checking for bent pins when the DIMMS would not boot. Grrrr still cheap enough but its a pain to strip the build down just to reapply the TIM
  8. Interesting. I used the stress test mission linked above when all the bombs drop on the airfield I am down to single digit fps too. Once the explosions stop its back to playable again
  9. Its idling here at 23C and tops out around 71C. Highest its been is 81C and for this I blame the old arctic silver I was forced to use as I had run out of Kryonaught which dropped top temps to around the 65C mark @100% load. I need a new tube
  10. Don't buy the Strix H model. Its very badly supplied with I/O both mid board and rear I/O and suffers from a coil whine :)
  11. My experience too. The new chips are so much more beneficial for VR.
  12. Its such a shame we can't use it (MSAA) with DS and VR yet because it makes the game so pretty :)
  13. Well you where posting about difficulties in MP. I perhaps too briefly posted that less than 8 Gb's is really going to limit your MP enjoyment. I used to use 6Gb and struggled to join MP. I upgraded to 12 Gb and saw a huge difference. Just trying to help though sorry :)
  14. Er yeah I did, it was aimed at the guy with 8Gb and the one with 5Gb
  15. 2x MSAA is killing your system. Loose it and you will gain FPS, looks pants though I cannot run higher than 1.2 PD with 2xAA without I can set PD 1.7 and solid 45 FPS in all situations
  16. I concur this is the new norm :) Hiya Jacks I am sure your going to love the rift :)
  17. I was going to mention that, though it was the casual assumption that DDR3 will work with a DDR4 system. Beware everything on the internet is true
  18. Looking at peoples specs. 8Gb ram or less will not serve to play MP.
  19. I don't get more than 45 FPS in 2.5 although it seems smoother and you can ramp up the settings. I don't regret my rig for a second though and if you can budget for an upgrade I would not hesitate to recommend it as it will be a huge step up from the old sandybridge and I notice in a big difference in DDR4 to DDR3 :) Happy shopping;)
  20. My 8600 without hyperthreading gives great performance and 2 ccores are utilised between 80-95% and the others up to 50% so I guess something is making the other 4 processes work. But yes unless someone comes up with a way to measure it all we say is anecdotal, one thing that is apparent is DCS loves fast processors :)
  21. If you put a 6700k into your rig it would be a huge improvement and depending on your mobo will be overclockable :)
  22. I upgraded from the 970 to a 1080. Massive difference purely for the rift and I have since upgraded the rest of my hardware. It needs a fast CPU to drive the 1080 to its maximum. I get 98-99% GPU usage in 2.5 :) 4.4 O/C should be fine
  23. Nice flying, I wonder if this now opens up some CA Vietnam with tunnels :)
