normal alignment procedure - assistance required
Tom Kazansky replied to AngryViper.101's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I was just searching for more info on alignment accuracy, and all I found was a video where the alignment of an Airbus A320 is explained, and they also use only one digit. (it starts at 1:40 min but you already see it in the YT-video-screenshot) that INS accuracy seems to be standard. -

@warfordthanks for the info. I have just found another interesting one: in this grim reapers video about alignment @2:10 min. it is claimed that the altitude in the F10 map is the ground level (no news) but the INS box is 6ft above that level and one has to add those 6ft to the altitude value of the F10 map. Ok, I woud say that 6ft is a verry small deviation compared to the 0.1' (max) error of the coordinates. So I agree: The question is: how to get the coordinates in the Viper alignment more precise?) that's what I said before, but it leaves you with an error of up to 150m for each N/S and W/O direction. -

That's not the right one: 17.1' is not too close to 17'11'' because 1' = 60'' and so 17.1' = 17'06'' (or 17'6'') You need the format with the decimals despite the Viper has only 1 digit after the period. edit: looks like NXX°XX.XXX WXXX°XX.XXX (you have to round those last 3 digits .XXX to .X) (edit2: I'm testing this but it seems that only 1 digit is very inaccurate. I get deviations to more than 100 meters. do I miss something? Is there a way to get more precise coordinates to the alignment page?) -

Thanks. If the coordinates and altitude that are shown on the DED of your viper are correct then it is enough to confirm them by pressing ENTER (for each of the 3 lines) within the first 2 minutes after starting the alignment process. -

Thanks for the clarification. Good luck. I'm curious about your results tomorrow. Would you mind sharing those with us here? -

@warford Are you sure that the coordinates/altitudes you confirmed right at the starts of your alignments were identical with those of the F10 map (if available)? -
Waypoint Number / Distance not showing on HUD
Tom Kazansky replied to glen.a.williamson's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks! Yes, it helped me a lot to get the range to next WPT shown in the HUD. And I bet @JTFF - Raph is absolutely right, too. My HUD looked exactly the same (like in the shown screenshot of the other thread) without confirming the LAT LONG coordinates (and ALT) while INS alignment on the ground. -
+1 On the smartphone I see only 50% of the message (pun intended)

No Miles for Raven One Dominant Fury?
Tom Kazansky replied to Muellerman's topic in Payment and Activation
Well at least here in Germany the discount that miles offer seems to be already included in the reduced prices at steam. A not too wild guess is that this could be the reason for the miles. -

ED plays very fair here. Their miles rules list those that don't participate. See here at the end of the page: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/miles_rules/ -

The M2k in DCS World: Getting better and better? impressions
Tom Kazansky replied to kotor633's topic in M-2000
I can't thankyou enough for that effort! Coming back to a module that has changed and improved so much without accurate training missions has been too hard for me so far. I had a great time with the early Mirage 2000 and I'm looking very much forward to flying all of your updated training missions as soon as they are finished. -

funny... yes. and it reminds me of my first steps in learning tricky flight models (not many years later than OP's video):

No problem. Good info is better posted twice than never.

This screenshot lets me think so see the path at the top, plz. As a stable DCS "owner" of SA I can't prove that yet.

Road Traffic in Chile drives on the incorrect side.
Tom Kazansky replied to JABowders's topic in Bugs and Problems
I'm not at my PC, so I just ask: is this issue also seen in Channel and Normandy maps? -
For me it is certainly not a big problem not to have freeflight missions right from the start, but to be fair, such missions are more than placing a single aircraft in a map. Self designed missions don't have surprises, or "wow-moments". Especialy those with only one aircraft are not vivid. I don't think the OP means that one can't place a plane and some waypoints in ME. Freeflight missions for me are more than that. I obviously can wait some weeks for a new map's missions, but I would appreciate to klick on a freeflight mission for new maps, start on a crowded air base and have some aircraft in the air, that I don't have set there myself knowing exactly what the are going to do. So if the question is: Are freeflight missions critical for a (EA) map? I'd say no. Are they a good way to start with a new map or a new aircraft: It is definitly a YES for me.

Agreed. Are there missions for the Harrier or the Mirage?
