1. 1) These Controls are interchanged. How they list in Controls tab: RShift + B controls "Emergency By-Pass" and RCtrl + B controls "Deluter" They're inverted. ~ 2) Oxygen is not replenished by refuel/rearming. The only way to replenish oxygen is by doing a repair. 3) There is no way to shut off oxygen completely (to save it).
2. I think we got an radio antennae with the update. Right side. Old pic without. Scroll up for new pic. Now need to mount a radio too.
3. It already is. Seen it multiple times. Not new.
4. Thought about moving but I have a fast internet. And most importantly I didn't want to have to edit Win registry.
5. So that worked. No activation lost. No deactivation used. Uninstall DCS on platter disk. Reinstall DCS on SSD (2 hours including downloads). Saved Games kept on platters. Every setting kept (almost, a few lua files in main folder). SSD +3, RAM +6.
6. "Not yet implemented" The F4U Corsair would be the WW2 fighter. Because I really want a carrier Warbird, I want a big radial and I always been into the big, business looking gull wing Corsair. An aura akin to A-10 or Viggen. ~ After that. -Any iconic English or American two engine fighter. P-38, Mosquito. Rather fighter- bombers than bombers. -I'd really like a hooked Spitfire, the Seafire. Griffon Seafire's served both WW2 and Korea. -BoB era Spitfire. Would it have killed the Normandy map makers to make a twofer? Extend a little north to get a BoB map also.
7. Thanks for replying. I have a single Starforce, FC3. So now I have 6 points. With SSD I will get to 9 points. So I will not waste an deactivation. I think I will initially just have an extra drive and put DCS on it. Then I will attempt to clone the Win 10 drive and put both Win 10 and DCS on it. I don't think it matters which drive DCS is on. I think only the actual hardware change matters.
8. I've installed more RAM in two stages. 6 GB -> 12 GB -> 16GB How I now accumulated 6 or 12 points? I now will add an SSD (3 points). Can I somewhere see what my current count is? Deactivation's are limited to 10 just as activation's are limited to 10 so I don't want to deactivate unless I have too.
9. Searching the subfolders tree I found only two *protect.exe files. fc3_protect.exe in the Flaming Cliffs subfolder I understand but dcs_protect.exe is not placed in a module subfolder so not connected to a specific module? It is placed in Must I run both? Am I correct in that these two are the only module(s) I need to deactivate? Everything else (not having protect.exe files) I need not deactivate?
10. I noticed the flicker, I thought it might be because I'm running a Commodore 64... Probably was on the aerobatics server. Mildly annoying, not a show stopper. Dynamic weather hypothesis: Aerobatics server definitely has "weather". Tried an offline no-weather replay - no flicker. CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM Processor, 4 core, 6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz (base 2.4 GHz) GPU: GeForce GT 635M/PCIe/SSE2, 2GB SDRAM: 16GB DDR3L PC3-12800 Hard disk: WDC WD7500BPVT-80HXZT3 (750.2GB, SATA300, 2.5", 5400rpm, 8MB Cache) O/S: Win 10 64 bit Home
11. Every single Hornet has the ladder (15 maybe). Hoggit training server. I don't have the F-18.
12. You can use the command line updater. A guide including "- Switching Between Open Beta and Release Versions" https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 Small quirk. Folder name stays the same (it will not change to "DCS World OpenBeta").
13. There's an error in the video at 2:39. The narrator says "propeller contin's speed control fully forward" while the video shows a hand moving the mixture control fully forward (red handle). One can see that the actual "propeller contin speed" (rpm) is already fully forward. Listen and turn on subtitles. Subtitles are auto generated, therefore it comes out as: where google auto generated "better contin" when he said "propeller continuous speed control fully forward". Did a camera guy move mixture while filming not knowing what he was doing? Rpm fully forward is what makes sense and what we do in DCS.
14. TrackIR works inside cockpit. Not outside. A truckload of those. I was momentarily confused at the left & right engine controls ... Are the brakes supposed to be inverted? I had to check Invert to make them brake when pushed.
15. A Commodore 64... ASUS K55VJ CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM Processor, 4 core, 6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz (base 2.4 GHz) GPU: GeForce GT 635M/PCIe/SSE2, 2GB SDRAM: 16GB DDR3L PC3-12800 Hard disk: WDC WD7500BPVT-80HXZT3 (750.2GB, SATA300, 2.5", 5400rpm, 8MB Cache) : 699GB O/S: Win 10 64 bit Home ~ "SATA300" is SATA-II I think (3 GB/s 300MB/s). "SATA300" is the harddrive (see above). I cannot figure where to read in "SiSoftware Sandra" SATA-I, SATA-II or SATA-III. Quotes from Tom's hardware SSD is surprisingly cheap. Size. Though my DCS install is 97GB I figure a 120 GB SSD is risking to be to small. A 240GB would be fine but if I ever decide to put Windows there as well, it's better to go with a 480GB SSD. 480GB Kingston A400 2.5" SSD 2.5" SATA 3.0 (6Gb/s) cost 57 pound (70 dollar) (surprisingly cheap I thought).
16. This is my first inquiry. Meaning I recognize I must, and will, do a shitload of googling. But first I'd like an inkling if the idea is completely dumb. Here's a general 6 min video for doing this. It seems very simple and going from an 5400 rpm harddrive to SSD should make a difference. Concerns I have. -Is the interface SATA? I count on the interface being a SATA interface (one of the myriad I will google). If it is SATA I count on getting the same performance increase as if I had replaced the 5400 rpm drive. -Would placing DCS on SSD but keeping the operating system on 5400 rpm hard drive still give a considerable performance increase? I hate to throw away a perfectly good 700GB drive. And this way I would avoid the hassles of a complete operating system reinstall to the SSD. I get screen freezes occasionally when approaching a densely populated airfield. I figure the this is due the hard drive. The main draw of this is the simplicity and cheapness. When I upgrade to a gamer desktop computer this will not be a loss. The CD optical drive breaks easily, it's broken now and I didn't use even before it was broken.
17. My Opentrack and Delanclip works fine with the MB-339A. Including zoom in/out. This is a good guide. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/34403-a-complete-guide-to-set-up-head-tracking-opentrack/ The guide has one flaw. These settings below are set from inside OpenTrack NOT from inside CL-Eye as the guide states (I ignored every setting in CL-eye IIRC). It's the menu "Input->Camera Settings" in OpenTrack. This particular settings is tremendously important, without settings Gain and Exposure, the camera work like shit (as in hardly at all). It focuses the IR dots.
18. No, according to this thread. post #3 (of 4) has a critique of IR5. Another thread comparing the two https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143035 I decided for me that TrackIr isn't worth he considerable higher price. And some say the alternatives are as good.
19. I can not imagine simming again without head tracking (or VR which I have yet to try). I use the Delanclip + PS3 and OpenTrack software. I never tried Naturalpoint TrackIR 5. I can only say that DelanClip (which is a lot cheaper) works fine for me. I can also say that the metal DelanClip is very durable, used it heavily for 9 months. Some guy compared IR5 and Delanclip. TrackIR and Opentrack/Delanclip/PS Eye A possible difference is that IR5 has two horizontally separated IR sensors (I think) which might make for more redundancy (more margins) wrt how the head is positioned in front of the sensors. I think IR5 also has a higher sampling frequency. The PS3 (my PS3) can do 125 Hz with 320x240 resolution or 75 Hz with 640x480 resolution. I find the 320x240 res works better, higher freq and dots are smaller so they don't bleed into each other as easily. Looked it up, TrackIR5 has 120 Hz frequency at 640x480 resolution. OpenTrack is freeware and when I researched head tracking and it was suggested that OpenTrack is a better software than IR5. I have a suspicion IR5's software will only work with TrackIR hardware. A useful guide. A complete guide to set up Head-tracking (Opentrack). ~ PS, If you have a cellphone you can do head tracking for zero cost. I works, but I never got it to work well (it's possible it can be made to work well, but it's a lot of tweaking involved). It's a black and white pattern you put on your head and the cellphones camera sees it. One thing, it takes a shitload of CPU power. It took as much CPU as DCS itself ... (but that was with a very weak PC getting an fps of 12-22). https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=923596825 also http://www.skipser.com/p/2/p/android-as-webcam.html With streaming video from cellphone set up, this steam can chosen in the OpenTrack software. Linked Aruco generator is down. Here is the Aruco I used (printed and put on a farmers hat). https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/blob/unstable/contrib/aruco/test3.png Here's another Aruco pattern generator. http://chev.me/arucogen/ A thread on this at ED Forum https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=176638
20. Fuel gauge Neat modeling (possibly). Fuel gauge only shows full with plane horizontal, it shows a little less than full on sitting on ground. Ignition/battery How come panel lights and instruments only goes active with battery AND ignition circuit breaker on. Why not just battery circuit breaker? ATA gauge ATA gauge jumps from 1.45 to 1.8 when advancing throttle regardless if rear tank has MW/50, B-4 gasoline or is empty. Is it supposed to do that?
Mission Editor-----ATA gauge----------MW/50 gauge-----MW/Kraftstoff selector (set by default) MW/50-------------jumps 1.45 to 1.8----active--------------MW stoff selected B-4 Gasoline------- jumps 1.45 to 1.8----not active----------Kraftstoff selected Empty--------------jumps 1.45 to 1.8----not active----------Kraftstoff selected
(so how you make columns in a table? zoom browser 100%) MW/Kraftstoff selector defaulting to MW stoff and MW/50 pressure gauge only active when rear tank loaded with MW/50 makes perfect sense. But what happens when ATA gauge jumps from 1.45-1.8? ~ Two more questions. -Am I correct in assuming that if rear tank is loaded with gasoline it will feed into main tank automatically? -It looks like MW/50, B-4 gasoline or empty can only be chosen in Mission Editor. Is there no way (in game) to ask ground crew to choose how the rear tank is loaded?
21. I had this same thing in the TF-51D. It was flyable, except rudders randomly returned to center. Turned out the rudder was assigned to the Warthog throttle joystick. I was very new and hadn't yet figured out to always check all the bindings in "adjust control".
22. The controls will NOT automatically be sensible (they NEVER are). The program takes a guess at your peripherals. I always get a dozen buttons tied to to my pedals which I have to delete. You must go through the setup line by line. Obviously some commands are more important than others. Especially verify that all control axis (pitch, rudder, aileron) are correct. Look at the line left to right and see that they only are tied where they should be tied. Pulled my hair for a while before realizing the little joystick on top of the throttle had defaulted to rudder pedals. Kept touching this intermittently and couldn't understand why the rudders sometimes went crazy. You can make an HTML file from inside the "Adjust Controls". Rightmost "Make HTML" will make an html file with commands listed.
23. Not a carrier version? Without a carrier variant I loose some interest. The iconic Vietnam carrier launched F-4 is what comes to mind to me for the Phantom. Can't say I'm terribly well informed of the F-4 history. I know it was mistakenly missiles only in early version but got upgraded.
24. I read some years ago about the original companies for military planes squeezing money from sim makers. I think that's pretty shameless first, do they really have to be so greedy?, and secondly, taxpayers payed for the original developments most of the time.
25. I tried the A4 just now. I tried to find safe low speed / stalling speed. Pulled the stick full back and waiting for the shakes or wing drop. No. Full rudder. Nothing. I know there are planes that act like that, the un-stallable ASK-21 and the An-2 but would the A4 be this docile, idiot proof? Full power, stick full back, it climbs briskly standing on it's tail about 80' deegres. I love the details of the systems, but I find the flight model... I wouldn't know but I doubt it.
