He addressed all of your points perfectly. 'Perhaps' it is the language barrier but your questions were asinine in the first place for exactly the reasons that Fri13 stated.

A-10CII? Not sure what you are getting at. They are never adding FLIR. If you want an apache then go fly that. Don't try to morph the ka-50 into an apache. I began the sentance with, "Since we are bending the realism already."

The ka-50 needs an update. ED can't justify overhauling the module for free. People would throw a fit if ED charged for an upgrade with no new features. So the compromise is that they will have to add some 'fantasy' features so they can overhaul the module and justify charging for it. I think that this is an acceptable compromise. Also, the Ka-50 doesn't need FLIR. It can see just fine unless its pitch black out. If BS3 makes the shkval work at dawn and dusk then it will work 18 hours a day and that is close enough. Since we are bending the realism already, maybe we could change the S-8OM fuze to 17 seconds? I'm sure they could make this IRL if it was needed, and it only takes a tiny lua edit to do... @BIGNEWY

I thought the program mode worked?

Select ELINT pod; tdc box over diamond; lock; fire.

I love the new color options for the S-8TsM rockets. I was wondering if it would be possible to pack all the colors in a single B-8V20A? So if you fired six rockets at six targets they would each get a different color. Having used the TsMs before it can be difficult to explain what orange smoke you are referring to when there are six orange smokes.

Its possible that one day if the Ugroza enters service that they might add it. But right now Ugroza rockets are not in serial production afaik.

What is wrong with the dispensers? They deploy one after another when I use them which is what they should do.

PVI-800, Shkval, and Target Point coordinates lacking altitude.
IronChancellor replied to Dirkan's topic in Bugs and Problems
IIRC this is the correct behavior. The pvi-800 has no way to enter altitude information, but when it reads targets from the datalink/shkval it stores altitude information. @BIGNEWY On the real ka-50, is there a way for the ground crew to set a default altitude for entered target points? It seems like it would be weird to have the default altitude be sea level if you were operating far inland. -
Would it be possible to release the flight manual in its current state? It would be nice to be able to familiarize oneself with systems and procedures while waiting for early access.

Does the Mi-24P have an automatic reticle for unguided rockets (like the su-25A), or is it a static reticle (like the Mi-8)?
-
I play on GaW often and I can't wait to be able to capture airfields with a single helicopter in one trip. Also if the Hind has a sight like the Su-25A, then the S-8 will be more than capable of killing anything that isn't AA.

The KMGU special release mode is for the KMGU-2 submunitions dispensers. Not sure if its meant to work with bombs.

Trimmer switch (!) and other stuff.
IronChancellor replied to Hippo's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
That's how the trimmer works IRL. If you are not in Flight Director mode, holding down the trimmer disables the autopilot and then releasing it sets the trim. If you move the stick without holding down the trimmer button the autopilot will try to counteract your input to keep itself on course. Now, ingame there is a delay that does exactly what you want: it ignores your joystick after you release the trimmer so that you can recenter it. The issue is that the delay is hard-coded AFAIK, and is not long enough for some joysticks. -
fixed Shkval slew control with analog axes
IronChancellor replied to Bourrinopathe's topic in Bugs and Problems
I would also like this fixed, but until then this is what i've done for my VKB Gladiator NXT ministick. -
fixed Skhval won't lock clearly visible targets.
IronChancellor replied to IronChancellor's topic in Bugs and Problems
@BIGNEWY This thread is still tagged as 'need track replay.' Do I need to make more or is this just an oversight? -
Also note that vikhrs fired in A/A mode heat up the laser way faster than normal ones.

The other posts answered all your questions so im going to go off-topic a little bit and throw in some misc tips that i've found: The alignment starts from when you turn on the electric power, so always hit that as soon as you spawn. There are keybinds for the mechanical clock that you can use to time the alignment. Setting the waypoint to bullseye allows you to navigate anywhere on the map without using the F10 map. The axis binds for the TDC allow faster movement than the HAT keybinds. Remember that you lose stabilization when moving the crosshair, so this can help you compensate for aircraft movement. The Kh-25s have much more range than the LA says. They'll often hit their targets while going mach 1. Don't underestimate the S-5s, they got a bad rap against infantry in afghanistan but they're quite effective against light armor. The S-8s *CAN* kill MBTs, but it takes ~4 direct hits. If you want to have fun I suggest flying below treetop level and smacking them from 200m away. The S-25OFM decimates buildings. I've never had to use more than 1. Turning on the laser improves the gun/rocket accuracy. The periscope on the top of the canopy is almost as good as a MAWS. You will no longer be able to watch someone drop a GBU on a BTR without thinking 'what a waste.'

fixed Skhval won't lock clearly visible targets.

I know this has been an issue since the beginning of time, but since BS3 isn't happening I decided to bring it up again. I know DCS doesn't have real contrast locking, but the current limitations placed on the skhval are not even close to realistic. Both of the following images show a clearly visible unit that the skhval refuses to lock onto. I have not changed the brightness or contrast dials.

Could you (or anyone else that knows) explain what prevents it from using external illumination? Do Russian laser seekers synchronize their code with the launch platform at launch? Or does the launch platform provide some kind of initial seeking guidance? Also, should the ka-50 also not be able to use external laser illumination, since it uses the same Kh-25ML?

DCS Crash after attaching to a carrier catapult
IronChancellor replied to =OPS=Slider's topic in Bugs and Problems
Clean install of dcs fixed this issue for me.
