Good find QuiGon! thanks

I know that A-10C and F-5E have that type of RWR interface with handoff sep and other filters. For SEAD, I guess you require a panoramic receiver, a signal analysis unit, and more or less, signal distribution panel to discern the signals. Sort of dangerous waters narrowband waterfall type of analysis. And that is to just tell the type. I am not sure if RWR in hifi modules can have a scripted screen failure (not audio failure though). That would make a good exercise in identifying type of threat by ear as I read more into SEAD school methodology. They are required to analyse threats by tone. The other side would be an audio failure without screen failure to simulate circuitry problems and train for keeping eyes on RWR.

Absolutely. BMS which is ages older than DCS. The SA-2 is getting a unit in DCS though. It would be interesting to see how it does against F-15Cs for example. I hope it makes it to combined arms in full fidelity or as a separate module, which I personally would jump on in a tick.

Its meant to simulate getting blind by NVG and lightning flashes. The mission is perfectly doable but needs a little more planning. If you are unsure you cleared the mountains, you can do a circling climb until your height is +1000-1500 from the highest peak in that region. Next, tune to ADF Batumi and fly coastline until the needle points to roughly 127°. Once there hard left to ADF and initiate descent slowly and at 80 knots or less while keeping tabs on that ADF needle. If timed right, you should descend to runway threshold where PAPI/VASI usually give clues to orientation. Finally word of advice, follow your AC and dont get creative.

Wishlist Addition: SA-2 Guideline
WildBillKelsoe replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
That is true considering 3/4 or maybe more of all aircraft losses attributed to the lead wall. ;) -
Based on reading Brick Eisel and Dan Hampton books, I can say its not easy. Radars usually work on different wavelengths, one is broad spectrum and the other is more refined and focused analysis spectrum. There is also the missile guidance spectrum that complicates the problem. First, the radar must be in transmitting mode (active search), not passive mode. Second, the radar is usually coupled with an air defence network that consists of a search radar, a tracking radar, and missile guidance radar. A stout radar operator also could dummy launch the missile and at the final expected intercept point, turn on radar guidance to leave very little time if any for the aircraft to react. SAM systems also could be fired into lofting trajectory and at the apex can home in on bandits expected trajectory. There is also the question of AAA barrages when forced to go under SAM radar envelopes that compounds the problem. Aircrafts used RHAWS to home in on emitting SAM radars. If the signal was strong they could reasonably locate the site. In later tech advances, SAM hunters used equipment that could analyse and thus classify type of SAM, position, proximity based on strobe levels and stage of tracking (broad spectrum search, narrow spectrum track, extremely short spectrum guidance) signals the battery was emitting. In DCS, SAM representation leaves much more to be desired imho. I am not sure if scripts exist to simulate an intelligent radar operator, but in the main, its a point and shoot thing with DCS. If such scripts exist, its better to work with another ship as generally one is hunter and the other is killer. Someday we might have a full working SAM simulation inside the realms of DCS, but for now, its lock and shoot and scoot.

DCS-Su-27 Operator's Manual for A-A Combat
WildBillKelsoe replied to ITGCVerticle Charlie's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
That is a great write. Structured, and to the point. Well done. I think you might also want to check the square loop and write some info about it. The tacview image is blurred. Might also want to write down HUD range key being multiples of seven. Also, might want to write about off boresight capability of AI Su-27s. Also, might want to write about Pugachev cobra and G limiter switches functions. Lastly, takeoff and approach speeds would definitely help in enriching it. -

here is a video detailing the exceptional S- Sem'desyat Pyat (S-75) I call it the Powers Downer. -
In the A-10A or C, I'd like to set a value for oil pressure to drop to after a certain time in the air (four hours), where this value begins to drop at a rate of 1% every 20 minutes onwards until landing. Further, I'd like to take this value onto the next mission to simulate wear and tear and apply a 0.25% drop every 8 minutes to simulate further system degradation. Is this possible?
-
I think he meant you need 10k hours in order to successfully do it blindfolded.
-
noo noo nooo! its very good dont remove it! we couldnt see bupkiss before it!
-
you gotta love the black dot thingy.
-
will it have a blind flying hood? external drop tanks? propwash and gyroscopic precession? For simulating air combat, can ED put laser receivers at back and laser guns at front cockpit? like aircombatusa ?

here is a first hand account. I like aerobatics and certainly this will be a blast. If its all about combat it would be boring. Scenic flights are great.

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
WildBillKelsoe replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Ah its clear now thanks simo1000rr. I think I'll get both a new base and the grip then. -
Shimmy Carter agrees!

I just tried Ikarus and I have to say it makes flying alot easier with multimonitor setups. Also focussing on flying and promoting peripheral vision is a bonus. Well done guys its really great! one question though, I cant seem to get the radar working on F-5E to appear on ikarus. I'd love to be able to. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)

$99 for the grip or the grip and its base? I have tmwh can the base fit its four screw holes without plate? In other words, do I need a fresh wooden attachment to the chair or will mcg base fit into warthog stick screw holes 6 cm x 6 cm square holes? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
considering I never tried civil inside DCS before, yeah, why not.

Day 1 buy for me. Bon chance!
-
at first I had a lot of disconnects. Then by practice and flying formation and precision flying, I can top off in one connect.
-
well he mentioned crickets as a complaint. I think its a bluebird. Bluebirds usually feed off crickets according to googling "which bird eats crickets". Swallows too. I think its Me-262 or dH DH 108 with super sonic capability. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Unable to land the Spitfire; any tips?
WildBillKelsoe replied to Jamesp1's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I had wingdips before. I recommend -4 to 0 boost on a 1800 RPM with shallow approach at 90-100 mph with cut throttle two meters from threshold and gentle flare. I'll post a video. -
I just crashed on the first mission in UN pilot. I was approaching Madrid after completing all legs of my flight at 2000 meters and 110 knots indicated when suddenly my RPM and fire warnings came to life, the autopilot disengaged, and I plummeted nose down and died. This was not recoverable. Interesting to say the least. Any pointers on how to run your new engines? Preferably documentation? Or is it the doghouse chart in the old manual? I think BST should release an addendum to the manual for new engine operations.
