  1. Negative; A quick google search brought me this http://www.copters.com/pilot/autorotation.html "While the collective is being lowered, the nose of the helicopter has a tendancy to pitch down. The pilot needs to use aft cyclic to prevent this. Allowing the nose to pitch down creates two problems: it tends to reduce RPM because it decreases the amount of airflow through the rotor disk, and it tends to increase airspeed, usually far above the range you want to use while autorotating." I wonder if you doing cyclic forward at the start of the auto is losing rotor RPM so you don't have enough rotor RPM stored to trade for lift near the ground. I haven't flown a gazelle, but I do fly a 3 bladed + fenestron Cabri G2.
  2. Looking in the logbook file, campaign shows as "active", does the history for mission 1 mean I've completed mission 1 or am currently active on mission 1? Edit: using latest openbeta version
  3. Hello, I completed the first mission of oilfield last night, but it hasn't updated/saved the progress. So it shows as "inactive" still with nothing done in the menu. Is there a way to edit something so I can do the 2nd mission?
  4. Collective down Cyclic BACK, if you push forward with no engine you'll lose rotor rpm
  5. Correct answer!
  6. My point is DCS Tornado must have TFR, as we can simulate history
  7. It wasn't removed to make room for more avionics in the GR4, crews used to routinely hand fly it when low level in VFR and TFR in IFR. RAF have up to now regarded low level flying as an essential skill, not sure if it will continue with the F-35 as you say - is it needed?. Will be interesting to see.
  8. I don't believe so, why would they disable it?
  9. I passed the Helicopter PPL 2 weeks ago, need to get the paperwork sent off so I can get a licence!
  10. Do you mean the model shown by Significant from several years ago or newer ED model?
  11. I think what you are describing is pilot induced oscillations, have a look at this video eA0jZXck2S4 While helicopters are dynamically unstable in the hover, you shouldn't be moving the controls constantly. Try establishing a stable hover - then if you keep the controls steady, it shouldn't go anywhere, but this will only last for a few seconds before correction is needed. Things get easier the less you move them. I'm almost done with my helicopter PPL, the first thing my instructor always mentions after lifting is "stop moving the cyclic!!" I don't even realise I'm doing it..
  12. This bug is part of the furniture now :D
  13. Only gets really interesting if all the air defence assets get a full 3D cabin and let players operate it ;)
  14. If only it was SAM Sim detail & player controlled!

So sad! and he started creating the documentation for S-300PMU
  16. To be fair he didn't say spring of which year :thumbup:
  17. Looked at the F10 map to see where I was in the world
  18. State of the project: in development :megalol: Please just let BST work on it, they will tell us when it's ready. They already have an excellent proven record with helicopters so we know the quality will be there. They don't need to build "hype" until right before release for marketing purposes. I'm waiting for the Mi-24, as it will probably be the next module I buy for DCS - but I can wait patiently.
  19. They can do an FC3 fidelity Panavia Tornado for me! Then upgrade it to DCS level in a few years :)
  20. Latest trip to LFA17 in the UK. Shame the tornado didn't take the route I wanted, but that is the risk with the location I was in. Will probably get one more trip before the end of the year. The clock is ticking to photograph the tornados before they are retired in March/April 2019 I think. Only 19 tornados left flying for the RAF!
  21. Always use a she for machines, due to how temperamental they are :megalol: I still think she is great as well

    Great choice! enjoy :joystick::pilotfly:
