Has anyone ever experienced this wind shear? I've done some tests a while back flying through this 'doubled' block (climbing and descending) at 90deg from the wind direction, at 250kts and never noticed any momentary yaw change or VV jolt on the HUD. The ground track always remained the same. I set the wind to different values and the results were always the same.

Reminds me of this other sim and the drivable boat that my virtual squadron used on occasions. On those rare days when everyone got their s**t together things were going really smooth, our skip always knew how to spice things up. One of the boredom breaking routings was making the boat gradually change course, without making any BRC change calls. Fun, fun, fun

I do my own 'paddling'... for now. Here's my case2 with no landing area lights on the boat (pain in the butt) and case1 with 'wake turb.' disabled.

Yep. Some time ago 'Curly' posted a pretty good description of how the stick works in Hornets, Eagles, some other folks chimed in with viper stuff. Interesting material. It was posted in Hornet's general forum.
-
I don't see it, then again, I start 99% of my missions in the air or up and running in the parking area... could be something different when starting from cold. I'll do a cold start tonight, just to see if it makes any difference.
-
So... what else is there? Landing Hornets is easy and ballooning is normal... We're all good.
-
No, the real Hornet's stick doesn't move as you trim.
-
I've seen 'Tank pres LO' in DCS Hornet when above 20k feet and extending refueling probe. It clears itself when probe retracted. No need to rotate the bleed knob. I understand it also comes on when the gear or hook is dropped above 20k (for whatever reason). There are other, more serious situations when this caution can pop up, from what I remember when I read NATOPS many moons ago. I haven't encountered these problems in our Hornets yet.

Hey, no need to... Bringing up possible issues wakes people up once in a while and makes them go through procedures, refresh memory, etc. That's all good. Most of us don't have TAC manuals and rely on how DCS implements 'stuff' from SME's or whatever... I always catch myself applying 'word of mouth' material, lots of it from other (then legacy Hornet) platforms.

Dedicated FXO and Metashaders folders by map

Slightly off theme question: Is there any reason to also wipe out DX shaders in Windows after major config changes? Any effect on DCS shaders? -
Before Foka answers... Before every QTY release, you have to match each station with whatever PP/TOO prog. you wish, then pickle. I the vid I presented, all 4 stations were already on TOO2 before the first release, due to the way the targets were assigned (TOO2 was the last prog. assigned for each STA) so, when I pickled all 4 bombs headed for TOO2 targets. Now, before the next QTY pickle, we have to 'match' each STA with the other TOO by stepping through stations and boxing desired TOO. In this case TOO1.
-
Cool, I can live with this... As a matter of fact I tried this a while back and ran into issues and for some reason I didn't do enough 'trial and error' tests this time. Might not be the most simple logic for my cranium but it works.
-
8 JDAMs, TOO, QTY release: Why does the first salvo of 4 bombs remain on selected TOO mission, then after switching to the other TOO mission and pressing the pickle switch, only the first bomb stays on this TOO, the remaining 3 bombs load the previous TOO mission. To me, it makes no sense. If you do it, dropping a single bomb/pickle... it's the same pattern, except you can correct it by re-boxing the proper TOO before each pickle. I showed these 2 situations in a brief vid: https://youtu.be/4hSxtPth1DI

So, the conclusion here is... everyone does it their own way, which is cool. Just a quick reminder though: The flap switch is basically a consent switch. When switched to half or full, the jet is 'ready' to re-configure to powered approach mode when the a/s goes below 250 kts. (I think it's 240 kts going from PA to UA). Which means, you can flip the switch to FULL at 600 kts, coming in for SHB and all you'll see is a little amber 'flaps' lit up below flap status lights. Nothing else will happen until the a/s bleeds off below 250. Then, the LEF's, flaps, flaperons, stabs, etc. are scheduled by FCS, gradually... no sudden drop to 'full'. Currently the ballooning is not that bad. I'm curious though how things will change after the FCS update (as part of FM update, I guess)

I haven't done this for a while and would have to check if anything changed. From what I remember, even if I released 8xJDAMs manually, after releasing first 4 and switching PP then stepping to #6 JDAM would switch the PP again, to the previous one. So... when stepping through stations I also had to joggle through PP's. There was also another issue with one bomb always going stupid, in spite of insuring the correct PP was loaded. I didn't have time to investigate, then... I just forgot about it.

This + hand signals for VR users, gloves or otherwise... Currently, I'm still at a level of mouse clicking

This issue has been reported in the bugs forum and the tracks provided by MARLAN_. I haven't seen the tracks. Perhaps some of them already confirm what I've just noticed. In a co-altitude engagement, I didn't see any obvious discrepancies between NIRD zones on the HUD and LZ on the ATTK, when using Amraams. In a steep look down, the NIRD indications were different from LZ. I think LZ was correct... then again

DCS: F/A-18C Screenshots and Videos (NO DISCUSSION)

What the heck... after 3 hours of putting the Amraams through the wringer, I could not make it fail... at least not today. Am I doing something wrong, lol? -
I just imagined myself smacking my Warthog around... with both hamfists from time to time. I'd give it about 2 weeks before ripping the grip off. Yep, it would be nice to have some custom made, full scale center stick with forces controlled by flight parameters + normal increasing torsion around the stops. Sure, the forces can be scaled down to accommodate our flimsy joysticks.
-
Slight correction... After watching the track again, I simply managed to 'corkscrew' the missile out of energy, in the last engagement. The launch was made at R_max so the outcome shouldn't be surprising. I'll try to run through different setups when I have time. For now, I'm assuming the barrel rolls are not as effective as they were long time ago. Perhaps my skillz got rusty.
-
I tried good'ol Lockon era barrel roll against an Amraam at mid altitudes and out of 3 times, I succeeded once. I have no idea why the missile wasn't able to pull more lead before it missed. Perhaps lost lock. It was pointing toward the ground but if the clutter was the factor, that would just be silly... I don't think that was the reason:
-
The jet knows your ground track and velocities. It shows the velocity vector (or ghost) correctly... I think. Also, we already have wind corrected CCIP for dumb bombs. I just tried it in the same mission as in my vid, using 2 Mk83's. They hit 5 meters to the downwind side and dead on along the flight path vector. Pulverized the target. So... I think ED can fix the gun CCIP probably... on the next patch?

correct as is Maverick stuck on STBY and won't fire

LTD/R on? -
I just tried strafing in 20kt crosswind. It is a bit tricky but like 'almost' anything else in DCS, can be done with developing your own ways and procedures...

No, this bug is still there.
