Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9

Great mod, thank you! Is there a way to keep the original smoke height for downed planes(SP version)? I like all the effects, especially the dust when the plane hits the ground, I just prefer vanilla debris smoke. -
Yes, it was the mod by mustang causing the stutter, at least on my end. He fixed his mod and now I have no stutters.

It was Persian Gulf file by mustang. The one getting rid of the noise in the textures. There's extra terrainconfig42.lua or something like that, he fixed it in the new version. If you place AI plane on the same side as you (german for example) he will fly straight, then it's actually very easy to duplicate. But this is not as much of problem with the weakness of 108. The bigger issue is that it's not possible at all, no matter how many times you hit the wing, to separate it mid flight. That's not an issue in DM for player vs player, it's only happening with AI damage model. Edit: After more tests, it seems only AI possible to de-wing without burning first is P-51D - 5 plus hits. I hope this will get fixed. -
The coolest thing about these clouds is they actualy look like clouds. Don't lose hope until you see them in video.

OK, I'm gonna rephrase it for you. Currently, under any circumstances, it's not possible to rip off wing with the mk 108 whether you hit the same spot once or 10 times with the high explosive ammo against AI planes. PvP doesn't have this problem. -

Can you compare the K-4 canon effectiveness on the player vs AI? I tried to rip wings off, even set the AI plane to the same side so he doesn't evade. But the AI DM seems to be unfinished yet. It's just impossible to shoot them off before the plane bursts into flames. -

Yeah, same plroblem here. AI A-20 with engines on fire, props stationary, but it kept going and even firing on me after the crew jumped out -

That's interesting info, athough I'm not smart enough to understand what exatcly is it saying, I just like to blow s**t up. If multiplayer balance is problem (understandably), perhaps there could be restrictions on HE ammo - only for SP. -

Yeah I would agree when it comes to machine guns and 20 mm ammo. But there's pretty famous video of Mk 108 tests done on spitfire and it takes literally 1 shot to blow off the tail and 1 to tako off the wing. Also going deliberately for the wings is not the best idea, generally pilots went for the center of mass (in case of fighters), so most of engagements ended in fire/smoke/pilot kill. And K-4 was active for short period right before the end of the war, so I wouldn't expect many gun cam vids from that particular plane. While I agree it would be unfair, especially in mulriplayer, DCS is simulator and it should represent reality as much as possible. I hope this is just bug and not their decision to balance multiplayer like other games did before. -
I'm not sure if it's bug or intended in the new DM but I can't take off wing of any fighter plane in game (against AI). Spitfire, Dora, P-51, they just start to burn in the fuselage area even if you only hit the wings with the canon. It's only possible to shoot off the tail of planes in the new DM. I was hoping the mk 108 would be modeled correctly in DCS unlike in the other WWII sim, but it's still weak. From wikipedia: "Testing verified that the autocannon was well suited to this role, requiring on average just four hits with its 85g RDX-load (in a 330g shell) and a resulting strongly brisant high-explosive ammunition, to bring down a heavy bomber such as a B-17 Flying Fortress or B-24 Liberator, and just a single "shattering" hit to down a fighter. In comparison, the otherwise excellent 20 mm MG 151/20 (3g of HE in 57g shell) required an average of 25 hits to down a B-17."

No idea, it should be there if you checked all the boxes when installing ReShade. It's called lightdof_far in the .ini but I'm not sure if it's the same in the reshade menu. Look for effect that has DoF and far in the name. If that doesn't help, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

OK, download older version of reshade, now they have way too many filters. Preset should be created in the game directory. overwrite preset with this file https://mega.nz/file/mTBG1RSR#hqKdEHWY8JfU-T7kslcvtc8cBYPHggIlCifGbLbj2ew It should give you the same settings as me, but note that this is preset from Assassins Creed and DoF is set to be very subtle. In case you don't see any changes, go to reshade settings and activate LightDoF_Far. That should open LightDoF.fx menu, where you can set intensity of DoF manualy. Good luck:thumbup:

Hello there. I'm trying to make Bf 109 K-4 bort numbers blend better with the rest of the skin but the roughmet layer doesn't aplly to them so they apear comletely matte. Is there a way to make them as shiny as the rest? I tried adding alpha layer but that just made them slightly transparent. Any help is apreciated. BTW I'm using edited rouhgmet from the "Bf-109 K4 Jagdgeschwader 53" , this skin has its own rougmet DDS file.

I don't remember which one I used, just Google dcs nvidia control panel AA settings or AA guide or something like that. And BTW you should be able to use in-game SSAA if your system can handle it.

I've read some time ago, the new fire and smoke effects would be global. There was one Flanker screenshot in newsletter but I haven't seen anymore info since. Can anyone confirm those effects will be activated for modern jets and helos as well in the next OB update? Thanks.

Reshade DoF doesn't work with ingame MSAA enabled (in any game). So my advice would be to turn off in-game antialiasing and use Nvidia panel + Reshade FXAA and MSAA. I used to use "Far" DoF option in DCS and it worked fine.
