What is the design sink rate for a max takeoff weight landing? Nobody knows, because the USAF did not pay General Dynamics to design for that condition. If there is an emergency right after a takeoff at max takeoff weight, a normal landing should be no problem for the landing gear. Of course, if it is safe to jettison stores, there will be more margin for error. Of course, things like brake energy limits, available runway length, arrestment availability should also be considered.

  6. I would say tanks empty or full is cat 3 , due to the drag factor. Also I saw there might be a speed restrict for cat 3 loadout or you may damage the pylon (hung store). In the old days, I flew (sim) cat 3 and when down to a-a and no tanks, I switch to cat 1. I think in real life, they have to be way more careful than we are in the sim :) Also a plea to DCS Team....never make any of our planes drones, old F-16's are now used as remote drones ....sacrilege ;)

  10. Tough critics .....that is the spirit :) She will bite if you fly her wrong ... Lawn darts incoming and complaining. Also not just grabbed out the thin air you guys inhale.... Granted a F-16 maestro not yet ... I live in a country where we have free speech so have at it :) Guns only and I'll try to give ya a round for your money ;)
  11. 1. Your hardware controls: Make sure they are not "spiking" meaning they jitter at small movement. "spiking" make any jet not right and it is hard to null out. In general make sure you don't have faulty controls, dosen't matter is you are low or high end. The F-16 will go there if you point it there. You can try deadzone if you are not at a point of buying new hardware and adjust from there :). 2. The F-16 will safe the bad pilot and kill the same one. I've flown a lot of simulated aircraft over the years (year 2000 ish online). If you are on it..F-16 might seem dull but again she will go were u point her, example tgp work in A-10 ..nice auto pilot and a lot of flags when looking at tgp, we will get this in the F-16 in time but right now, monitor your instruments. You drop a bomb and forget to trim ..she is now doing 30 degree left and 10 degree down at 380 knots ...only going faster. BE vigilant..goes for all in general but this bird ..be faster. Military version of the s-300 aerobatic plane. 3. She is a dog in full load and drop it she is a friggin F1 car. If point one is not set , never mind ..that important. 4. Dcs wise she is not done and no pilot would drive her in real life with this lack of feedback BUT if you are a veteran driver of simulated aircraft then it is a good challenge juts to fly her. 5. Be ready as a person to be told you did it wrong, itis not on you as a person ..you are just flying a pristine aircraft. Be ready to accept that you don't know this jet yet. For me personally it is a: he is just better or me not doing right. Nothing out of wack. Been flying dcs stuff for a while and 9 out of 10 it has been me. Thrust me when it is official a finished product ..you will still suck ;) hehehe. 6. She is a handful in every scenario but she is controllable, but takes skill.. 7. have fun and hopefully some 7 year old finds out that this is for him or her and do it in real life. DCS CREW you have a ton of work ..get on it ;) Out :)

  13. Will we be able to hand targets between a-10 , f-18 and f16 ? In a-10 to a-10 we have some cool features and even in the ka-50. My thought is that dlink in real life might be super powerful but will we get anything in that area ? The way that ka-50 works is super cool (might be simplified but still pretty cool). The way the F-18 is progressing it is a mini/local awacs..the same could be said for the A-10. Now since it's wireless it should be jammerble. Building a random fail in a computer game is tough.and 90% would be unhappy but it is part of the thing we are doing. D'Link could be seen as a god's eye but it would in our sence make many more aircraft workable in multiplayer. Keep at it DCS ...we blame and flame and but your product into fame ;)

Also the mach 2 statement is made from marketing people ... laptop with 17 hour battery "GAMING" this and that ..mate it's just a keyboard with lights your car will do 70 miles to the gallon ...yeah downhill in neutral ;) planes are no different. Also a mute point as we fly with gas, pylons , weapons on pylons etc. If u rely on numbers you not doin it right :) mach 2.2 is for the camera . But have a picture of day 3 dcs F-16 at 53000 feet doin 2.2 going up ....the truth is I was off the "normal" map when it happened. On speed issue, I hope they will model hung stores if u brake 600 knots with bombs on :)
  16. Work for me on the latest beta. Make sure u have the latest build of the mod, I had an earlier version and planes were in editor but invisible on the map.
  17. Since many of us saw the clickable pit of the ka-50 we all wanted this jet :) Reason for getting it now: it's the F-16 ... ;) Serious note ..just to get used to it in dcs. Reason for not getting it : If you have flown the F-16 before somewhere then I would wait, reason many of the things you expect are not here yet. For the Hornet I was in category 1, I knew nothing about it and the early program have eased me into it. General thoughts on the early program... For me the Hornet started in pace I could deal with but man all of a sudden it took off, many systems are pretty advanced and wow hold on ;). I suspect the F-16 will be the same, as the majority (at least on in writing) of people talking on the forums is in a state of "gimme gimme I can take it" ;) Famous Day of thunder quote..."lets see how you do in a crowd" :) Careful You might get what u ask for ... ;) etc etc. Let's be honest early buying helps dcs bottom line and I'm not a huge fan of that model but Heatblur have put down the gauntlet on how a early program might be handled. Conclusion: F-16 is way better than day 1 but still a long way to go. Wish: more detailed patch notes, Any major change has to be documented...why? Early access , we are testers and as such we need to have the data to be able to help in a prober way. Right now F-16 is a plane that is fun and to be able to fight u need good out of the cockpit skills, as many of the system helps are not there yet. So see it as a pilot training plane as of now. You are flying the navy F-16 ;)
  18. Might make a vid....(clean jet around 4000 p of gas) 1. She will take off dirty and do a 180 dirty (keep it under 300kts) 2. She will go 30000 feet if retract early on takeoff and build speed to 400 kts'ish. Burner and straight up. 3. High alpha at 160 kts (use climb tape instead of hud) 4. Fly inverted dirty no prob at level. 5. Requires skill to fly prober (Mover connected on the boom first try ...had he stayed wow) 6. If u come from f-18 or F-14 it is different ...so much lighter clean ...saying it again friggin rocket ship. play around with it and go the the edges (we can do that in the sim world :) ) Pure flight wise right now ..it is good fun ...combat wise ..if you know what you are doing and what you are flying ..not bad. We lack a lot of the tech cheats but plane is good and fun "it can't be done ..maybe in a F-16" It does come at a price ..it lags legs and get good at refueling ..you'll need it . It east gas like a muscle car ;)

  22. Rdaf F-16 has ir warning build in to the weapon pylons...it's a block 15 mlu ..hint hint ;)

  25. Real rates might be classified, but I feel the jet is quite nimble :)
