I am very much looking forward to a dcs F-5, but i was really hoping it would be a flyable version of the one that has been in the series since lomac, namely the NF-5a. The one the turkish airforce fly in dcs and they bought from the netherlands when the RNLAF transitioned to the F-16. The NF-5 was a further development by nortrop/canadair in coorporation with the dutch airforce.

It had leading edge flaps and a stronger wing structure wich gave it a 50% higher turnrate than the stock f-5 of its time and also allowed a bigger payload and more external fuel load through the addition of tiptanks. Also in avionics it was an interesting aircraft. It had a gyroscopic gunsight, radar altimeter and a rolling map as well as various navigation and communication upgrades. All interesting features for a simulated aircraft and the main point for me to have it developed.

I know it is not going to happen but it is this aircraft that is one of my earliest childhood memories and was thankful for it being hinted at in lomac and dcs through the, now rather old and low poly, ai turkish f5. Or at least that was my perception of things.

edit: i rediscovered and want to share with you two pieces of 8mm film from the 1980's of the NF-5A and -B. They were shot by one of the pilots. (yeah, 1980's, hence the music ;) )

Yes, and also radar, AIM-9's, AGM-65's, and various bombs/rockets. Oh, and dual 20mm cannons with over 1000 rounds of ammo.:joystick:

Taking in count 1.5 version is around the corner i think it could do no harm at all if ED release a couple of pics about the new F-5 in the forums.
