Now I have a Harley and run my own English school in Japan.

Some of the Japanese custom bike builders are outstanding, I love their old school choppers and cafe racers.

I'm well over 60, and a retired, disabled combat veteran with lots of time on my hands.

I've a lovely wife to whom I have been married for over 44 years, and a son who is just entering the USMC at age 24.

I still build my own PCs and love PC stuff generally.

I'm active in several MMOs and still tinker around with simulations and games as well.

I am convinced that the common denominator is an addictive personality which may include:

- Impulsive behavior, difficulty in delaying gratification, an antisocial personality and a disposition toward sensation seeking.

- A high value on nonconformity combined with a weak commitment to the goals for achievement valued by the society.

- A sense of social alienation and a general tolerance for deviance.

- A sense of heightened stress, often associated with drug and alcohol problems.:drink::smoke:

But what do I know?

Regarding age spread, the youngest people I've aided in the support queue were around 13-14, the oldest was a retired professor at somewhere around 85.

While I suspect the early teens are common for games, I somehow suspect that there's a shortage of 85 years old professors (and Vietnam Huey pilots too, for that matter) in the support queue of most games. :P

As for me, 30, single, no kids (but a cat). Played sims since my older half-brother moved in with his Amiga 500 when I was 7. Prior to that I had mostly been playing Chessmaster on the IBM PC. The game that really turned flight sims into something "special" for me was Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, which came with the Soundblaster card purchased for the first-gen Pentium.

YES! :D

I still have fond memories of when I took the five deutschmarks I got for shopping when we visited my grandfather and bought a joystick. And would you believe the rediculous modernity of it - it was ANALOG! ZOMG! :D After having grown up with the TAC-2's, that was just soooo cool.

Man that's scary, that's almost the same as me. :)

Only difference is i'm in a longterm relationship and i'm in electrical/audio engineering.

Also, besides studying i work part time at an automotive component supplier testing high voltage battery control unit software.

Edit: Now that i think about it, i think i had FS 4.0 before 95 came out, but not as early as 1989.

42 and Married with a trio of kids, 2 girls and a 14 month old Boy. Work as a sales representative for a industrial company.

Have been flying only a short period, about 8 years. Started with Microprose Falcon 4.0 and Gunship, as well as KA-52 Alligator.

Heading towards 40, married, and apparently we're planning on having a kid next year. :surrender:

Born German, but moved to England a number of years ago. I work as a freelance sysadmin (Unix, BSD, Linux) in the City, but mostly remotely.

As far as flight sims go, I'm late to the "game". (Chopper Command on the old Atari 2600? console doesn't count, does it? :D)

Previously, flight sims were lacking the immersion factor for me, due to lego-like graphics, terrible frame rates, etc. Well that applied last time I looked at flight sims like 10 years ago or so.

Things have changed big time, as I discovered when I incidentally I stumbled upon DCS World last year, and got hooked instantly. I plead guilty to purchasing all its modules, although I usually only fly those with rotors and propellers :D -- Huey, Mustang and lately Mi8; rarely the fly-by-wire Shark

A couple of weeks ago, I also got X-Plane 10, which took quite some time to force it into submission (tons of plugins, scenery, of course helicopter addons, and what have you). But now I like that a lot, too. Looks really good now with all the extra stuff added.

Much to the dismay of my wife, I spend more time "flying" than I probably should :music_whistling:

My humble rig: Windows 10 pro 64bit; i7-6700k on Gigabyte Z170X G7; 32GB; MSI 980ti Twin Frozr; 512GB Samsung 950 Pro (NVMe/PCIe x4); 1TB Samsung 850 Pro; Komplete Audio 6; TrackIR 5 Pro;

DCS 2.5 with almost all modules; favourites: Shark, Mi-8, Harrier, Viggen, Mirage, Hornet

So you're married to the Air Force and your kids are two F-15, an F-16 and an F-22? :music_whistling: :megalol:

I'm 37, single, no kids, working as a freelance web-programmer.

My first vivid flight sim memories include "F/A-18 Interceptor" (first time flying under the Golden Gate bridge, yay!), "Fighterbomber" (awesome soundtrack) and (later) "Advanced Tactical Fighters" (I won a campaign by loading a B-2 with *loads* of AIM-54 and clearing the skies to the target area ) and also "Wings" (incredibly immersive).

TM F-16 FLCS was a total game changer, so Falcon 4.0 was an insta-buy. Then some Il-2, and thinking... too bad combat flight sims are dead. It'd be soooo cool if someone made a top-notch helicopter sim... guess how I ended up here. :music_whistling:

26, married, about to graduate with a Masters in English (specifically for Teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language). Heading off to Tokyo to teach at a university in April. Dreamt of flying fighters since I was 3 but I wouldn't get past MEPS thanks to medical issues. I didn't really get into flight sims until college.

My profile:

37 years old, married, two daughters (5 years and 14 months old), working as product development in food industry and as househusband at home, and yes, with very little time to play with this awesome sim, only from 00:00 pm to 01:30 pm (when everybody at home is slept and all housekeeping duties done).

So, if you meet someone around 35-50 years old, with big eyebags, moving his hands as if is handling a HOTAS and saying RTB instead of "going home", then you met the typical family father enthusiastic on DCS world....

45, married for a looong time (18 years!? :helpsmilie::D), one son. Fresh stay at home dad (after a God knows how many years managing small business). I love every single moment of it.

Beside watching my son grow, which is the most important part, it gives me plenty of time for DCS and FSX :)
