Grim_Smiles Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I see where you're coming from, but my main issue has to do with what they promised on the kickstarter campaign. For example, SDK was said to be released by the end of the year so that we could have maps ready by the time DCS: WWII was released. Now, I know some of the limitations with this comment. I realize EDGE wasn't even integrated in DCS: World at the time, and is still be integrated now. BUT I want to hear that form the guy who promised the SDK in the first place, not everyone else. I want to hear from the guy who promised constant communication, a social media manager, an SDK, etc etc, why those things have not been done or aren't happening. Part of the reason I pledged was not because of DCS: WWII, but to get some more inside information on the progress of EDGE, and to help support Eagle Dynamics in general. People don't stick to their promises, I guess with such a small market it seems to happen more here than anywhere else I've seen. Sure there are setbacks, but KNOWING that going in, means you don't promise what you can't deliver, it's as simple as that. Hopefully the questions from this thread will get addressed at least. Thank you again for putting them together. I see where you are coming from as well. If he can't keep up with some of the promises he made, he needs to at least address it and say what the issue is. Especially in the case of those guys who put in enough money to get the Skype discussions, I really feel bad for them. I think it would go a long way if Luthier would at least publicly acknowledge the issues. He promised more communication, hopefully he will work on that promise as development starts ramping up (I'm not holding my breath on that though). In the case of the SDK and Edge though, I think SithSpawn is correct here. Edge was believed to be getting released around the end of the year at first, so if he believed ED would release it soon, I can see why he'd promise the SDK at the end of the year as well. That Edge release ended up falling through, so there isn't much Luthier can do about it and I don't hold that unfulfilled release date promise against him. I don't think there is much Luthier could comment about with the SDK at the moment, other than "Sorry guys, I have to wait until ED finishes". I think this is also why we don't have an Alpha as promised, because without the release of Edge there can't be an Alpha. Granted I thought their claimed date for Alpha was too optimistic and I wasn't expecting them to meet it, but if Edge had been released by the end of the year he might have had a shot. As for getting info from him on Edge, I'm not sure he could give us much more beyond what ED allows, as I'm sure he had to sign NDAs. Basically only what was related to his product (watered down some I'm sure) and likely the only comment being screenshots showing the planes and terrain (granted that is something at least, but we get that sometimes from ED as well). However, maybe with this list of questions we might finally get some answers. Or not, unfortunately I can't say I'm feeling "glass half full" about these being answered anytime soon. All I can do is wait and hope. MACADEMIC Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Nice to see so many comments here trying to explain the state of things, but the one person/company who really could and should isn't anywhere to be seen. That's the real issue here. Some have backed on the basis of very concrete promises, which as yet remain undelivered. Probably a good thing nobody went for the $10.000 reward which included a day and evening with the team in Moscow (flight and visa not included). The way things are going, most likely nobody would have ever shown up. MAC

KaspeR32 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Well, I hate to break it to you, but if EDGE is the only reason you supported the kickstarter then you mis-fired. ishtmail Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Patience is not a common virtue, it would appear. Ilya just posted an update and has explained perfectly well why things are slow. This is normal for a development of such complexity... I for one prefer updates when there is something to update about, and don't care much about updates in the form of "things are slow, but progressing. Nothing new to report." ED Team NineLine Posted March 21, 2014 ED Team Posted March 21, 2014 I am not worried about the speed of development, or the amount of updates he has given, those have been fine, it now comes down to questions that havent been answered, and are very important to paying customers, such as the P-51 keys... the aspects of the kickstarter that are due need to be addressed, even to say they are being worked on or looked into. Its quite simple. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

upupandaway Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) With the comment on the small screenshot that Ilya showed in the last update I think he has given sort of a partial and indirect answer already - at least as far as the missing P-51 keys go (and perhaps the other selectable licenses out of the WWII stable of aircraft). This is of course speculative due to the lack of official confirmation, but there are plans to simply make selections of licenses available for your account on the ED homepage as long as the KS- or PayPal-backer can be clearly associated to an ED account. Transaction IDs from PayPal could for example be used to unlock those similar to the recently introduced bonus system for past purcases. It´s just the matter of putting together all the payment and account data. I kinda like the whole idea and I can understand their decision if they just want to put together the whole infrastructure before dealing with the potential chaos that is awaiting them regarding unresolved issues. But waht do I really know? Al I have is just a confirmation email from KS. Edited March 22, 2014 by upupandaway [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
Zuti Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Just a bunch of excuses. I just can't believe this. It was exactly the same with the last project he was responsible for. ... Still, it is just unbelievable that "they" still did not manage to create a dedicated page where kickstarter and paypal buyers can communicate (we that used paypal can not "bitch" on kickstarter page, thank god that at least we have confirmation of payment) and mostly, WHERE IS THE PROMISED SDK! The bull like "let him develop" is irrelevant, we let him develop the previous project. Much good that did us.
