Wissam24 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I never saw anything about dual seats,... grasping at straws. Clutching at straws to ask if a dual seat aircraft will have dual seats?
joey45 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Clutching at straws to ask if a dual seat aircraft will have dual seats? Unless stated in big neon lights........ The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. "Me, the 13th Duke of Wybourne, here on the ED forums at 3 'o' clock in the morning, with my reputation. Are they mad.." https://ko-fi.com/joey45
Pman Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Clutching at straws to ask if a dual seat aircraft will have dual seats? People were asking about Dual control. The version of the Mustang that is coming simply has a jump seat in the back with the radio removed. There are no controls or gauges in the back of the version they are doing. So Dual control is a non issue Pman
xaoslaad Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 It wouldn't be a bad aicraft for them to start working on multi-seat on. Just getting it to where two people can sit in the pit with one controlling it and one along for the ride is a start.... whether that's their intention, and even if it is, whether that's ready for 1.2.8 only ED knows. I'm happy to have another aircraft in either case...
ED Team NineLine Posted April 1, 2014 ED Team Posted April 1, 2014 We just dont know at this point, they havent said, its not out of the realm of reasonable thinking that it will either be a functioning second seat, or sometime in the future... but we just dont know at this point. Now you can discuss it, but its all assumptions and guessing right now... Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
GeorgeLKMT Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) Now you can discuss it, but its all assumptions and guessing right now... Official motto of DCS forum :P Anyway, with Su-25T 6DOF, Su-33 6DOF, Eagle AFM and free Mustang ... I won't even know what to try first :joystick: But it should be enough to keep me occupied until all the other good things come. blkspade Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 It is kind of non-nonsensical to even want a dual seat/control trainer in a Sim, if you wanted to legitimately use it as such. Mostly do to the benefits of a sim make up for there being no respawns in RL. Now a genuinely functional RIO/WSO slot in a combat aircraft, that would be awesome. http://104thphoenix.com/
GGTharos Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 ... say the people who couldn't tell their radar cone from their burner cans when it comes to BFM training ;) A dual seat trainer would be an incredibly useful asset for training the basics of flight and BFM. And no, you can't do it 'just the same' by flying formation with the other guy, or watching his track, or watching his plane in externals. It is kind of non-nonsensical to even want a dual seat/control trainer in a Sim, if you wanted to legitimately use it as such. Jumbik Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Yes, riding along with you, seeing all that is wrong with what you do, could aid millions of noobs across the world... ;) What happens in the plane, stays in the plane. Do, or do not, there is no try. -------------------------------------------------------- Sapphire Nitro+ Rx Vega 64, i7 4790K ... etc. etc.
sobek Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 What happens in the plane, stays in the plane. Yeah, you didn't think that one through. :) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Jumbik Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Yeah, you didn't think that one through. :) There are some other rules that I should know of? :D Do, or do not, there is no try. -------------------------------------------------------- Sapphire Nitro+ Rx Vega 64, i7 4790K ... etc. etc.

Once you've subtracted the ability to actually feel what the plane is doing, and the risk/fear of actual death do to it all being simulated, what are the benefits? http://104thphoenix.com/
GGTharos Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Training. There's no substitute for teacher and IP sharing essentially the same view and being able to trade control of the aircraft for demonstration and execution. I can say with almost certainty that if you could have a ride along mode we would use it in the Virtual Horsemen to show off what its like doing what we do in formation :) If you can implement Rift then even better ;)
Call911 Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 All this talk about the free P51 an dual seat makes me wander an hope for dual Huey/MI8 in near future. maybe ED had a break through somewhere.:pilotfly::joystick:

Once you've subtracted the ability to actually feel what the plane is doing, and the risk/fear of actual death do to it all being simulated, what are the benefits? I had opportunity to "teach" people both by using tracks and by standing behind them and giving remarks in real time. Later method was way more effective with lots of people. If you have ability to affect controls, training is even more effective, because it allows student to concentrate on particular stage of complex situation, while instructor helps on others. This is very important thing for virtual squadrons, which do the training even for very greenish pilots. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
NRG-Vampire Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Here it is: DCS World Added FREE TF-51D for DCS World! This is the P-51D with the weapons, radios and rear tank removed with a jump seat added in the back. This does not include dual controls. cool, does it mean new 3d model comes with longer canopy ? Edited April 2, 2014 by NRG-Vampire
Cnuke Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I'm very excited about this great move from ED. A great time to release a 2-seater in spring for all the lovebirds :). It's just a fantastic way to promote DCS. And to fly over new terrain would be even better. :smilewink:
SkateZilla Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) cool, does it mean new 3d model comes with longer canopy ? Not sure, but it maybe the same P-51D, with some slight modifications, and a 2nd seat installed behind the pilot without actually modifying the canopy size. ie: http://www.mustangsmustangs.com/p-51/?image_viewer/survivors/44-72907/79236127/5151/69 I'm very excited about this great move from ED. As I've said before, everyone jumpin for joy over Dual Seats and stuff are celebrating pre-maturely, as this was never stated to introduce a Dual Seat Feature, It's Simply Put a Free Version of the P-51D. Added FREE TF-51D for DCS World! This is the P-51D with the weapons, radios and rear tank removed with a jump seat added in the back. This does not include dual controls.
