As you have with the Su-25T and the like, the АУ-ПГ mode: Auto-Pilot mode facilitating Recovery to Level Flight at the press of a button. Otherwise known as the 'Majik-Trim' button.

Ah I see. Thank you.

I had never heard that the MiG-21, in particular, was so complex in operation and put such a high workload on its pilot, although that is generally true of all Russian military designs.

You just have to admire the whole Russian military paradigm:

huge country to defend, not much money to do it with, enormous need for lots of very reliable (but not necessarily durable) and cheap gear, and who makes it all work?

Some obviously very talented Russian soldiers, sailors and pilots.

The early MiG aircraft series (pre-MiG-23 and its successors) are the aviation equivalent of the Kalashnikov small arms: cheap, reliable and, in the right hands, effective.

In well-trained hands, MiG-21s made life very dangerous for Phantom pilots in Viet Nam, with a favorable win-loss ratio.

In Korea, Russian piloted MiG-15s were capable matches for the F-86.

Steve Adelmann just wrote an interesting article, in the August 2014 issue of Shooting Illustrated, about the 7.62 x 39mm round, and was quite surprised at its accuracy potential.

No one doubts the effectiveness of the T-34, yet the German engineers who examined captured copies of it were appalled by the low quality of assembly. Nevertheless, it helped turned the tide of war on the Russian eastern front.

It was cheap, reliable, effective, and made in huge numbers, just like the MiG-21 and various AKs.

Rude, crude, hard to be subdued.

Gotta give snaps for that.

Froogle should have mentioned a bit about recovery system. Interesting system that I havent seen on western aircraft.

Recovery system? What sort of thing is that?

I think SimFreak wanted to talk about the low alt recovery mode of autopilot which is different from the simple recovery mode (turn AC into level flight at any alt, like Su-25T's, but I don't know whether they have any difference in functionality. Since MiG21 does not have roll-trim, once with unbalanced payload, does recovery mode still work?).

Looks like a suitable rival for the Fishbed is shaping up nicely in Razbam's hands:

Nice to see a bit of the Mig-21 in video glory at last. Can't wait for proper videos by community members such as Bunyap to get to work on this beast! :)

Don't ask me for advice on these Two Subjects:

1.. How to Take Off in the Dora!

2.. How to Land the Dora!

But the Mirage 2000 is a much more modern fighter isn't it?

Back on topic.

The Fishbed has to be released ASAP! I really like how there is a tutorial about radial interception, teach IFR to the masses!

Yup, it is.... I was confusing it with the Mirage III used in the six day war.... lol

My bad

I'd say radial interception is interesting after reading that chapter.

He's pretty much spot-on. She's a Beauty :)

Getting to be my favourite aircraft fast.......and that's saying a helluva lot to knock the T-Toad off her pedestal where she's been sitting on for the last 9 years :megalol:

So ... does that mean the 159th will be incorporating her in your operations? :)

He must be careful with such breaks. If the migs sucks him in, he might be asking questions like "Do you want fries with that?" by next summer. ;)

Guess its time for a new video.

How much flight time does this bird have if its range is 750 miles? At top speeds it could almost cover that in less than 40 minutes.

I'm going to assume you're going to be a freshman? Give it a few weeks and then you'll realize that your college years are the years where you will have the most time to screw off in your entire late-to-post teenage life. College isn't that hard or that time consuming, trust me. I went to a top US business school, 10% of my time was spent studying or at class, the other 90% was spent drinking, drugging, partying, gaming, or sleeping. Pack your rig.

Rig: SimLab P1X Chassis | Tianhang Base PRO + Tianhang F-16 Grip w/ OTTO Buttons | Custom Throttletek F/A-18C Throttle w/ Hall Sensors + OTTO switches and buttons | Slaw Device RX Viper Pedals w/ Damper

Tactile: G-Belt | 2x BK LFE + 1x BK Concert | 2x TST-429 | 1x BST-300EX | 2x BST-1 | 6x 40W Exciters | 2x NX3000D | 2x EPQ304
