For anyone else whose polish language skills are as bad as mine ( nonexistent lol ) I ran that through Google translate. Well, that wasn´t that helpful, but here is what I found out for you guys to save time. But maybe YoYo can clear things up a bit ;)

 

Someone asked if the next would be an F-4, to which Cobra answered "You are missing a digit" (translated by Google from polish to german and then by me to english...)

 

Then it´s about some technical stuff and difficulties in doing the F-14, to which Cobra answered something like "We will care about those details".

 

Asked if this is an official confirmation of the Tomcat the Puppetmaster answered "Maybe"...

But what I really want is a (fighter)-bomber (Mig-27, Su-22, F-105, F-100, A4) light multirole (L-159, A-29A super tucano) or the Su-25(A/KM/SM)

If the Mig-23 is in the works which they said it is, then maybe the Mig-27 could be possible because of the large commonality.

The tomcat would be a very nice addition to DCS series, but because it has a RIO and variable wing geometry i guess it would take a bit more work to simulate. If possible make RIO a bit like carrying an AWACS in the back seat, then IMO the task would be much simplified.

That said, I wouldn't mind at all if they make a 23, as long as it's at least the same detail level as the 21 (without the annoying bug of the shaking cockpit at night* and low FPS and the lag issues online).

Nice interview by the way. Always a pleasure to know the team behind the scenes and their thoughts.

I am not familiarized with choppers, the single seater Kamov was the first and the last chopper I flew, so I don't know how they managed the two pilots in the Huey. Personally I would prefer to have an AI as RIO rather than jump between the seats.

And then there's the phoenix. A quick search shows that some data is still classified and it seems to never hit an aircraft before. Which makes me wonder how accurately can they simulate it.

Creating the AI for the RIO will be a major challenge, as it has to be a lot more complex then a simple gunner. The AI RIO needs to be able to manipulate a DCS level cockpit, pressing all the right buttons and switches at the right time depending on the specific situation. Then there needs to be a complete new UI for fast and efficient player interaction with the AI*. The player needs a way to communicate his current intent to his RIO (what to do, where to search, what to engage, when to switch to visual search etc.). And lastly there needs to be a reporting system so that the RIO can talk to the player on its own. Optionally there could also be the option that the player is the RIO and the AI takes over the front seat, which would be yet another dimension.

 

I expect nothing less than fully authentic pilot-RIO/WSO interaction and teamwork from a DCS level module. To me this looks like more complex AI than anything that is in DCS yet. If LNS really is doing the F-14, I am sure that they have taken a very close look at what this takes, and I am confident that they can pull it off. But it will be a huge challenge.

 

 

*Perhaps the integration of voice recognition software on the DCS level would be a possible solution to the UI for player-RIO/WSO interaction.

Skyhawk was the mainstay of Marines, if we are talking about an aircraft that wasn't flown by Marines, may be it's an A-7 ? :)

 

Cobras comment on it being an aircraft you would have expected the marines to fly does bring to mind the A-7, it's an attack aircraft, single seater, unlike the F-14, which as a fleet air defence fighter which personally I would have never expected the marines to fly.
