KaspeR32 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 The Las Vegas Motor Speedway isnt a big part of NTTR, its modelling will be basic at best, whether they will tweak landmarks like that is unknown and pretty doubtful at this time. The Speedway is adjacent to Nellis, it's where every plane will be going low and slow, I would think that it's one of the more dominant features of NTTR. I mean it's there, which is awesome, so I'm not really complaining, but they already modeled the track, so it would have to be a fix or a tweak like you said. All I am saying is it probably wont be a priority, of course we can request fixes, but it wont make or break what the map is intended for. I am certainly not going to bug them about it right now ;) Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

mwd2 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 This make the map bigger as the map of DCS World 1.0 --> nice. I would imagine there will be a border around it similar to NTTR of low detailed map area, so you dont hit the edge of the map... but I dont know much about that map yet or if they have standardized anything with that yet. karambiatos Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 if the undetailed area is as detailed as the current map, that's going to be pretty amazing, minus the towns and cities of course. Aginor Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 @mwd2 The map size depends a bit on how detailed the map is. So if you don't have many objects and/or no need for detailed terrain the map might be huge. Extreme case: A falklands map, containing only the islands' terrain, might be as big as the whole world (Falklands in waterworld so to speak). The Hormuz map contains a few big cities, so it might not be possible to make it really big. NTTR is somewhere in between. Lots of desert, with only a few really detailed areas. But ED said they will test all that stuff by expanding the maps as soon as the important parts are working, so I guess we will see, once DCSW 2.0 is released or soon thereafter. The airfield locations have the greatest detail (elevation mesh and textures of 2 meters per pixel), the center area of the map between the airfields (as indicted by the area covered by roads in the attached image) has the second highest detail (4-8 meters per pixel), and the area along the outside portions of the map have the least detail (16 to 64 meters per pixel). Now it would be nice to know/see, the differents between center, middle and outskirt landscape - compare with the Caucasus map. Thus far the new map and surroundings look promising but im kinda afraid for the effects. Will EDGE introduce improved particle effects from explosions etc? New fires and types of smoke ?
