Didn't Wags mention something like 5 different major areas that needed to be addressed before public release? ATC was 1 of them.

Yes he did, AI road/path finding logic was a big stopper at the moment.

Also it still has many crashes and needs more optimization, Which was the first reason (and I think the most important reason). All these features are kinda moot if the program is not stable enough to handle average joes rig. But its looking better and smoother every stream, and the FPS are pretty dang high, at least on Matts, but way better then what I was expecting.

Yeap, but I believe we're getting regular live stream because release is still quite a distance away.

Yup. Twitch can be really funny with the smoothness of streams sometimes. The last couple of things I've streamed have been fine on my PC, fine on the recording in OBS, but the recorded video and streamed video on Twitch were pretty poor.

Excuse me for asking,but what ever happened to ' EDGE '?, is it still being tweeked for release or has it been forgotten now,it seems such a long time ago now that I've lost touch with the interest surrounding it.

Edge is the new engine, you can see it working through the new NTTR map that is being streamed almost every week now. Check the recent DCS World 2 livestreams. ;)

Watching the streams, its apparent that there is a huge to-do list for ED. I wouldn't expect its release until next year.

Serious. We wouldn't be getting streams if it was about to be released. The purpose of the streams is to keep the "natives" from getting too restless. I don't mean this as a criticism of ED...they want it released more than we do. It just seems like there are too many issues that aren't close to being solved.

Exactly my thoughts. I even had that question posed for Wags to answer this for the very first live stream three weeks ago, but he didn't address it.

 

So yeah, DCS 2.0 pre-alpha seems to have been pushed back from the initial March-June 2015 release date (per Wags) to an unspecified time - hence the live streams for "crowd control". ;)

I believe the streams have been in the works for months now, he was just trying to get the hang of twitch, get approval for what can be shown, and for everything to be able to be streamed smoothly. The streams are simply a new way to communicate with everyone, not a form of crowd control or whatever... lets not try and put a negative spin on the streams at all.. I would hate for them to go the way of the weekly update posts...

Not negative at all - hence the winking smily face I put next to it. That's what they're for, right? To imply humor and/or lightheartedness? I enjoy the streams as well, yet - like everybody else - I cannot wait to finally immerse myself into DCS 2.0. :)

Dang, I really hope that isn't the case. I would think the opposite as them being confident enough to show it in all it's glory meaning it's that much closer to being made public to us.

For sure... it wasnt ready to be shown a few months back (stream wise), so I truly believe these streams are a direct result of progress, and Matt wanting to give people more as he knows how eager we all are to get this.

Is it possible to run a Twitch session, in the future, with a split screen to demo the multiplayer in the same aircraft? For example, you and Matt or another tester sharing the L-39 and putting it through it's paces. Not sure if it's really feasible and it may have been mentioned already on these boards somewhere. :)

Wrong thread, but I would love to see him do many different things with the stream in the future (guest devs speakers, new module walk-thrus, etc), but I tend to dream big, especially when Matt has to do most of the work :)
