King_Hrothgar Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 IIRC, Yo-Yo mentioned in a recent post that the performance hit was too big for inter aircraft engine backwash effects. Another CFS and its offshoot has modeled it for 5+ years now, why can't DCS do it to? That said, I'd prefer ED simply get the new graphics engine out and shelve everything else till afterwards. Feature creep is a great way to kill all sorts of projects, especially software related ones.
silent one Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Whats the news world 2 and F18? Have been away. Ive been away. I thought there was supposed to be an upgrade back at Christmas for world 2 + the Nevada map I payed for a few years ago. Is there any news as to a release date? Also anyone heard of estimates when the Gulf Campaign and F 18 are due. Is it this year or way off? Any news much appreciated :)
nickexists Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Any news will be in the official update section. Unfortunately no news news since February, but supposedly DCS 2 is somewhat close.

King_Hrothgar Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 They thought it would be released last December as of last December (no, that is not a typo). In the February newsletter it was pushed to June or July I think. We haven't heard anything since.
Haukka81 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I think that it may be early 2016 when edge is relased, Oculus CV1, Odyssey, Pimax 5k+ (i5 8400, 24gb ddr4 3000mhz, 1080Ti OC ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

9.JG27 DavidRed Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) For a couple of months now... But I think you have to use HTML5 player. When video is available in 60fps, it'll say 1080p60 when selecting resolution. ok sorry for being off topic again...but, after weeks of wondering why so many people talk about youtube showing 60fps videos now, i finally found the solution...or the problem why i couldnt see them in 60fps... its true, youtube now automatically shows the videos in 60fps, if the video is watched in either 720p or 1080p...but i never noticed a difference, because i used the wrong browser...i all the time used firefox, and for now it seems that only google chrome and safari are the only two browsers which take advantage of that....so today i installed google chrome, and its making a BIG DIFFERENCE! EDIT: ok i was wrong again! :D firefox is able to show youtube vids in 60fps if you just disable the flashplayer pluging! Edited April 19, 2015 by 9./JG27 DavidRed

Possibly, you do not understand what was really modelled in CFS, for example, regarding the wake vorticity in atmospere. Please, point me the game where wingtips vorticity is implemented? I mean real pair of vortexes trailing along the curve of plane trajectory moving with wind and moving relative the air (I mean a pair of vortexes moving each other). Morever, these vortexes must be time dependant along their trajectory changing their intensity and effective diameter.... I do not mention that they must travel along the ground surface.... Please point me the game all those effects are in? All kinds of shaking if you are within a cone from the tail of a plane scaling to the actual engine power of the plane are not the things I prefere to see... I didn't mean MSCFS, I simply meant another CFS since mentioning any other game by name tends to draw the ire of the various moderators. The CFS's I was referring to are Rise of Flight and IL2: Battle of Stalingrad. Both feature prop wash. Not sure about additional turbulence caused by the plane, but prop wash has been a feature there since the beginning or close to it. I don't know how detailed they model it either, but it's very obvious when trying to follow another plane closely directly behind their engine/propeller. BTW, it isn't that shaking nonsense you speak of. WT does that and I can't say I'm a fan of it either. RoF and BoS do something, it's convincing but as said, I don't know the details of how. The end effect is it tends to make staying right behind them difficult, but it isn't because of shaking. It's more of a pushing thing, if that makes sense. It's hard to describe. Over 3/4 of my processor is unused. They said DCS 2.0 isn't going to use multi-core as it wouldn't provide much of a benefit. The good news is though that much of the load will be going to the GPU instead, should make things run a hell of a lot better. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo

OnlyforDCS Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) So I cant ask about performances? This never be mentioned or I missed that part. You missed that part. Performance will supposedly be equal or better due to DirectX11 implementation and due to optimizations which will offload more calculations to the GPU. A DirectX11 card is required to see these improvements. sobek Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 A DirectX11 card is required to see these improvements. Not quite right, DCS World 2.0 is DX11 exclusive, so you need a DX11 compatible GPU to be able to use it at all. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
King_Hrothgar Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 That shouldn't be an issue tbh, DX11 has been standard for both Nvidia and ATI for 6 years. I don't think there are any DX9 cards that meet the current vram requirements.

I think the key here is that these other sims probably script/fake effects like this, ED doesn't do that too much, if at all, especially with FM stuff... so unless their engine can handle it as a true dynamic effect, then we probably wont see it right now. We will have to see how much more room 2.0 allows them for things like this. As for drawing the ire of moderators? Yes... we don't like the comparison or discussion of other sims, not because it bothers us, but because the discussions can turn into the slamming and insulting of other companies/products... ED doesn't want their forum to be 'that'. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
