I have to say that I am not too impressed, I was hoping to see more on the release date of DCS 2. Considering the 2 months of silence, I would have thought that they would have more release info for DCS2, or even the Albatros. Where are the videos showing new explosions? Are there new explosions? The question is, are we going to have to go 2 months before we here from them again?

ED, why did you wait so long before you talked to your customer base again?

Moderators, this is constructive critique about DCS 2 and how they should handle their customer service.

They could make videos every day and someone somewhere on these forums would be upset that their one thing they were looking for wasn't included. You want to see explosions, this person wants to see smoke, that person wants to see shadows. Not everything is ready for viewing, not everything can be shown. Its still a WIP.

As for the release dates, the simple answer is that you are not going to get one. Any time they put any sort of timeline up, and they didnt hit it, people would get up in arms. So they have decided to wait till its close to Alpha release before stating anything along those lines. If you like I can tell you it will be out next week, next week we can come back and I will tell you it will be next week again until the release.

As I have said, this is a huge undertaking, there is so much going into this release, you guys are just going to have to try and hold tight... do you think I am not excited to have this out? Do you think Wags/ED are not excited to have this out? DO you think they are holding back because they enjoy not releasing 2.0? Really, I dont get it...

This thread is on the newsletter and the info shared, if they want a critique of their business policies, Wags will open a thread and you can comment there. Until then, your are off topic.

Hey, i usually don't post about stuff in these pre-release videos, but i got to tell you: THIS IS AMAZING. What i especially like in no particular order:

  • The slight haze that lays over the land. It conveys a great sense of depth!
  • The overall texture color, it just seems to have a great contrast balance, looking very life like.
  • The new smoke effects!
  • The treeshadows, they also help ALOT when judgeing hight.
  • TWO SEATER, IN MULTIPLAYER, WITH NEW UI!
  • Of course im extremly excited about the advances with the F/A-18, but i fear it will take more than a year still, untill its released.
  • Not from this newsletter but still: One .exe \o/
  • I wonder alot about that remark on the improved AI - i'm really curios about that one.

Well....erm.. thats it. Keep up the good work.

Noticed it. There is some time to go until this will be implemented but I hope the C-101 and the Hawk guys will be ready to deliver the rear cockpits when time has come. Would be too bad if we have to wait some months to fly these wonderful birds with a crew.

Yes but we can already do that with the Huey and Mi-8 so I don't see what the big deal is until it actually supports two players.

You're being a bit too liberal with my quote. I've had my share of pitchforks, i don't need you to put a smoking gun in my hand and throw me to the mob. ;)

No offence, but I read over it and didn't see a release date for DCS2 like the poster said. To be honest, it's a good news letter and it's upto date, but it's a bit confusing whether DCS2 is going to be released before the NTTR map or at the same time. They seem to have more going on with the NTTR map then they do DCS2, so in that respect it's not very clear what they intend doing about release.

With so much projects in the oven, and each of them being such a big change I guess it might be hard even for ED to shell out release dates. Software dev is all so random tbh, one day you go through a huge breakthrough that you thought represented 2 months of work while the next day you stump upon a bug that has your team sitting duck for a few weeks.

I'd rather them not giving any date at all than to keep publicly pushing it back 6 months every 6 months. ^^

I was referring to questions about customer service and updates, and when.ed puts out an update.

As for an release date, there was never a mention of one and there wont be, and its been established that there will.be no more set release dates, so theres no point in wondering why one was not given.

I don't mind when it's released either, but if you are going by the February News letter and then looking at the recent one, you are going to be a little confused whether it's still close to release or not.

Sometimes debugging and development doesnt always go smoothly,

which is a reason a lot.of.studios no longer set specific release dates.

The biggest innovation for this aircraft, and a big part of our reason choosing it, was the inclusion of multiple network players in the same aircraft. This technology has been a big focus of the team as of late. This has also been a big reason for our re-design of the multiplayer interface. It is to be determined if this features will be part of the initial beta release.
