They would need to have DCS2.0 out, before somebody could use the NTTR map, as it is designed with EDGE...;)

Uhh but they're two separate maps so why would one rely on the other?

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

NTTR cannot be rendered in the current graphics engine, it requires EDGE (which is the rendering engine that will come with DCS2.0)

The "old" Caucasus map will not be changed, rather enhanced by the rendering engine.

The new maps get features, that only work with EDGE, so while Caucasus can benefit from better ground clutter, more performance, nicer trees, etc. it won't likely get a new terrain mesh...

So Caucasus - runs both in current version and DCS2

NTTR, Normandie and Strait of Hormuz and other future maps - require EDGE so only working in DCS2

Huh?

Georgia is a map, which runs on DCS 1.x.x and will be running on DCS 2 as well - it just does not make use of all the new features DCS 2 allows maps to have.

NTTR is a map, which only runs on DCS 2 - and will make use of all those new DCS 2 features.

DCS is the "operating system" (like windows), maps like Georgia or NTTR are assets that need (a certain version of) DCS to be used. Modules are different assets (windows analogy: "programs") that make use of maps and thus also rely on DCS as the platform.

As for the other trainers, my view is if you don't have a high fidelity flight model, then you don't have anything. I know I'm not alone in that opinion.

Well I'm looking forward to the PFM on the Hawk, shouldn't be too long now. There is still a lot there to have fun with for now though.

Ok that makes sense now. I just thought NTTR is its own world with EDGE running in it. Thanks.

Oh my god. Las Vegas is beautiful!

I was thinking of making a civilian transport campaign for the MI-8, but it always seemed like it'd be boring on the black sea map.

I can make it work in Vegas!

Practice makes perfect.

Just a stunning news letter well done guys.

That Vegas video was mindblowing, but what were the PC specs, rather concerned my current PC that runs dcs world at the mo fine, may start struggling with all those buildings.

IF. You've managed to keep the specs the same, that is some programming right there.

Can't wait to enjoy the Huey on that map.

Glowing AMRAAM posted his specs. Not a monster machine as you may think. :-)

And he surely lost some frames because of his recording software!

Woohoo, that's not too far past my own setup. This is gonna be stunning.

To be fair, it's the multicrew that's got me the most excited. Can't wait to fly her with full multicrew.

i was refering to the oculus dk2, since people has been playing around with that at this moment.

i remember reading that official oculus support on DCS World 1 has been nonexistant lately because of developer focus on DCS World 2.

im hoping that dcs will be orientedon dk2, vive for virtual reality with made for VR menus, one click setups instead of all the workarounds that people currently do for dk2

Considering they had a desired release of December 2014, and then changed that to "between March and June 2015", I'm really hoping for some sort of release of DCS World 2 BEFORE Christmas. Even worse, as I go through the forums reading different stuff, it seems like EDGE and DCS World 2 have been 'right around the corner' since at least 2013. I'm just curious how it isn't considered in Alpha right now.

I feel at this point, they are trying to simultaneously release DCSW2 and the NTTR map. While I know that the NTTR map is going to be amazing, it would be great to see the new engine sooner than later, even if that means releasing it before NTTR.

As an AMD user, performance increases interest me more than anything. Hell, even a video showing how an AMD system performs in DCS World 2 would be satisfying at this point. We already know that Intel and nVidia perform well. The real test for the improvements will be if we get good performance out of an AMD cpu and gpu.

NTTR is pre-alpha as its still working through growing pains of being adding in to DCS World (its in there, but not stable enough for actual Alpha stage testing I assume), DCS World 2.0 has been in closed beta for some time... at least that is my read on it.

i further meant that hopefully DCS World 2 will come out by summer, then give it another 2-3 months for them to polish the VR experience when ED gets feedback from all types of PC machines and setups and other VR related suggestions. by that time it will be christmas, HTC vive is released, and DCS world 2 will have had some tweaking for VR via oculus DK2 that users have
