After mere 15 hours of uploading (yes my upload is crappy) I present you brief history of Eagle Dynamic flight simulators. Since Flanker 1.0 was released in 1996 (at least that whats been written on my CD) it's been almost 20 years of flying... (or was it 1995? Information on web claims it's from 1995)

Enjoy!

Flanker 1.0 was running in DOSBox without joystick.

Flanker 2.0 run without problem.

Lock On run without problem.

Since I couldn't get FC1 to work I recorded this part of movie in FC2.

F 2.0 runs very smooth on your system. What tweaks do you use? Did you alter the oblomki.tga? :) It's also a nice touch that you've included the toilet paper bug in the Su-25T footage (FC) :D

Great vid as always!

Thank you! Oh good old days:) I've spend sooo many hours flying in F 1.0 and 2.0... Amazingly when flying F 2.0 i got some nice FPS drop when shooting S-8 rockets... And I have to say FC wasn't running smooth at all, so ED did some nice job performance wise when moving to DCS World.

Great watch and such a great example of the rapid growth of 3d and computing technology and power. I will be interested to see what your video reflects in another 20 years:)

Thanks m8.

I'm quite curious myself:) Maybe we will have something like this-

Anyway DCS 2.0 is hopefully coming soon- maybe I'll modify my video and add another panel with it.

I remember being in kindergarten visiting my cousin abroad and getting to play Flanker.

I loved it so much I spent the next few weeks at kindergarten drawing only flanker pictures.

Today we're lucky enough to get to play a part in the lineages' future and to also be included in your video.

Here's to another 20 years.

Great work!

FC2 is still on my drive, but the problem is how to test it out. Human factor can change weapon employment outcome quite a bit.

Thanks for the video!

I also started with Flanker 1 also and the whole series made a huge progress in detail of the simulated aircraft with all it's subsystems.

It's more impressive that this flightsim - or better said "flightcombat simulation" has survived for so long, with only one stock map/scenario integrated. :)

Great video, thx a lot!

Being late to the party (my first contact with ED/TFC was with Black Shark), it's awesome to see the development that took place in such a short time.

Holy cow, that's awesome as well!

Great vid! I remember picking up Flanker 2.0 off the shelf in Electronics Boutique and thinking this looks interesting all those years ago:smilewink:

A great Vid.

I remember something similar. I had gone into EB to buy Falcon 4 and spotted Flanker 2 - I had loved Flanker 1 but never new about 2 until then. Bought it straight away.

Fantastic vid. Great trip down memory lane indeed. I remember only having played Janes IAF in my grade 8. I remember playing a demo in india included on one of the magazines for flanker 2. Then...completely forgot about it until I found flanker 2.5 another two years later while trying to buy a game for my Bday at a games store. Bought it right away. Couldn't handle it too well on a Pentium 3 with S3 graphics 64MB. Then moved to canada and got to play flanker 2.5 relatively better on a Pentium 4 and Geforce Ti 4200. Next year realized that LOMAC was in development and since then followed ED and their products along. I still want to re-create that old school first LOMAC trailer in DCS 2 engine. Would be fantastic to do a side by side of that. :D

Lol...I had Falcon 4 already and thought it was pretty good. My favourite however was still A10 Cuba. As soon as I flew the Flanker though I was amazed at how much more alive the airframe felt over F4. And a love affair with the Sukhoi number 27 was born;)

I've already had Flanker 2.0 when I found Falcon 4.0 in store and bought it (still have original box, CD and instruction somewhere). It was nice: clickable cockpit, radio comms, dynamic campaign... But when I did some dogfighting... Oh boy, Flanker 2.0 felt so much better in air.
