OnlyforDCS Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 AFAIK the Blacksea map did feature some (rather small) AI civilian jets right? Can those be placed on the Nevada map? Voodooflies Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I think it had already been discussed by Wags in some NTTR video. ED may be aware of it, but they said it's not a priority at the moment. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
_Acoustic_ Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I guess someone could create an airliner skin for the KC-135 since its very similar to the 707. The only way we will get some civilian AI air traffic soonish would be if it comes from a private modder. It is a shame that Blender users can't contribute, correct me if I am wrong but I believe I heard that you cannot use Blender for DCS. The only other way I see it happening is if companies who develop for FSX can painlessly move over some of their models to DCS. If it is strictly AI then perhaps it might happen.
ellutscho Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Recall At least an AI Airliner like the airbus 320 or boeing 737 for air policing or escort missions please. Yurgon Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Seeing as DCS is pretty much a sandbox, it's a mission designer's job to put some civilian air traffic into a mission. It would be great to have a simple option to set civilian air traffic like we can already set ground traffic. For the time being, though, that can be accomplished with a bit of work in the mission editor. Check the user files for some awesome =6&arrFilter_pf[gameversion]=&arrFilter_pf[filelang]=&arrFilter_pf[aircraft]=30&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC&PAGEN_1=4"]civilian skins for the Yak-40 by seth0s.
ellutscho Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 i know about these skins but the physical design (size, speed, range, travel altitude,...) of the yak is very limited and a scenario with civil traffic built with just one regional jet and several different fictional skins is a bit strange. Cunctator Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 +1 Also, there are many airliners with military variants. A Boeing 737 and P-8 or Airbus A330 MRTT would give us some realistic civil traffic and enhance the military aspect.

Kayos Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 +1 Would love this ability. Especially to be able to have the option to select it like Civ Traffic. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vedexent Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Can't you introduce new aircraft models as Mods? Isn't this done with mods which use the flight model and cockpit of existing DCS modules to simulate aircraft not normally available in DCS - like the HoggitDev A-4? If so, couldn't you "map" new civilian aircraft models over existing aircraft - like the Yak - to "fake" different kinds of civilian aircraft? I honestly don't know - but it seems like this might work.

Ranbi2Delta Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Not meaning to crash the party but If it was war, would there really be much civil airliners around? The best solution would be something that could be adjusted like the civilian road traffic option currently present. Mission designers could then set it to their taste. 1 "What's that goat doing up here in the clouds?"

MegOhm_SD Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) Not meaning to crash the party but If it was war, would there really be much civil airliners around? I thought the same thing at first but this is NTTR err Las Vegas area. So Civ traffic fits there. Maybe not so much in the Caucuses, SoH or Normandy. I don't see the need for it there. But wiith so many already complaining about performance, why would you want more objects to render?
