ED Team NineLine Posted December 8, 2015 ED Team Posted December 8, 2015 Images you are focused on are sharp, ones that you arent focused on are blurred. In the case of the sime though, its basically the center of the screen is your focal point. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
GeorgeLKMT Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Exactly what it says. It focuses on the selected object in F2 external view while blurring the rest. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_of_field ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■
dburne Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 And it also royally kills your framerate in external view. Nice feature for the movie makers though... GeorgeLKMT Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 But it should be noted that decrasing the number reduces the effect strength. ■ L-39C/ZA Czech cockpit mod ■ My DCS skins ■

dburne Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Not if you make a swift edit to DOF.fx shader file (#define NUMBER 50.0) Ok I gave it a try, yes certainly the frame-rates were better in external view with it set to 50 versus 150. I still had a little hit with it, but no where near as bad as it was with 150. Can't really decide if I like the effect yet, I have a feeling it is probably more realistic looking, might take me a little getting used to. Can you elaborate on the difference, between BOKEH and SIMPLE? Emmy Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 (edited) Wrong interpretation of "Bokeh" Bokeh is a Japanese word* which applies to the quality of the areas that are out of focus. Not the amount of blur, shape of blur or even the fact that anything is out of focus. It's a 100% subjective quality related to how "pleasing" the oof areas are to the viewer. (* We apply the term Bokeh in photography but being that it's Japanese, it's less of a scientific, quantifiable thing and more of a qualitative feel or personal interpretation.) pallfy Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) Not if you make a swift edit to DOF.fx shader file (#define NUMBER 50.0) This worked well. Changing the value from 150.0 to 50.0 and my gpu usage went from ~95% to ~65% So I raised it back up to 100.0, now gpu load is ~80% Edited January 10, 2020 by pallfy
