And it also royally kills your framerate in external view.

Nice feature for the movie makers though...

Not if you make a swift edit to DOF.fx shader file (#define NUMBER 50.0)

Thanks for the tip Mustang, I will have to give that a try!

Ok I gave it a try, yes certainly the frame-rates were better in external view with it set to 50 versus 150. I still had a little hit with it, but no where near as bad as it was with 150.

Can't really decide if I like the effect yet, I have a feeling it is probably more realistic looking, might take me a little getting used to.

Can you elaborate on the difference, between BOKEH and SIMPLE?

Thanks,

Don B

I have decided that this is a purely Hollywood effect. Your own eyes will do this for you. Just stare at the center of the screen! Don't the surrounding features already look blurry in your peripheral vision?

No one answered the dburne question, so I once again asked to clarify us what is the difference, between BOKEH and SIMPLE depth of field?

Different style of DOF blur. Simple dof just blurs while Bokeh blur has a circular shape to it

2. Is Bokeh

3. Is a simple blur

Wrong interpretation of "Bokeh"

Bokeh is a Japanese word* which applies to the quality of the areas that are out of focus. Not the amount of blur, shape of blur or even the fact that anything is out of focus. It's a 100% subjective quality related to how "pleasing" the oof areas are to the viewer.

(* We apply the term Bokeh in photography but being that it's Japanese, it's less of a scientific, quantifiable thing and more of a qualitative feel or personal interpretation.)

This worked well.

Changing the value from 150.0 to 50.0 and my gpu usage went from ~95% to ~65%

So I raised it back up to 100.0, now gpu load is ~80%
