Ayindi Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 @hegykc I already have TrackIR5, but would also be interested in your solution because of the wireless construction. Just one remark: it would be great if you would consider some "baseball cap mount" for this. (maybe even as some extra paid accessoire?) I personally dont like wearing a headset all the time, but would love to be able to mount an "active IR LED" item (not just the reflectors that the TrackIR construction provides for a basevall cap) to a baseball cap. (even more when this item is wireless, like your construction) Additionally, if you would consider this it would be great if it would be possible to wear the baseball cap with the sunshade backwards. I personally dont really like having it in my field of view so I would wear the cap backwards if I could... :)

Nash Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Most of the components are here, however after disassembling the ps3 cameras I found out the lens holder is glued to the lens mechanism, so it'll be another couple of weeks for the extra lens holders to arrive. I hope to have the cases machined next week. Hey hegykc, how long before we see these trackers on sale?:music_whistling: Any progress on your prototype? Deadman Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 well that is right to the point. Again? :D https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

lukejedi Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Hi, i m interested too in one kit. thanks.
hegykc Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Sorry for the wait. Here's the deal. Every single thing I need, I have to order from china, no matter how small or silly it is. Let me give you the most annoying example so far. There are 3 black countersunk screws in this design. I couldn't find the screws locally, of course, not even zinc ones. Not really surprised there, so I went to a screw factory, again no luck. So I had to import 15 screws from china to assemble these 5 sets. And it's been like that for everything else, cnc tooling, electrical wire, connectors etc.. I could have just paid 5X to have one piece machined elsewhere and 'frankenstein' it together, but I did some other things while I waited for everything to arrive. No worries though, these are simple problems and they have simple solutions. There are a "few" other projects that started before this, that use exactly the same materials and processes so I've been finishing up on those, so I can make all those things in one go. Everything is finally here, so I just need to schedule some machining time in a local entrepreneur shop and we're ready to go. Once you see the amount of different products (in addition to this one), it'll be more clear why it took so long, and you won't be disappointed. www.replikagear.com

U see I am from India and usually have my Indian friends working in USA to get stuff for me when they visit home... saves me absurd amounts in postage and the even weirder Indian custom duties... A friend was coming back to India in the first week of March, hence the hurry.. But no worries now that I know what has been happening at your end.. keep up the good work Mate... will order when you ready to sell... ::thumbsup:: Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk Check Six!!!__ ||AMD R7-2700X||ASUS ROG STRIX-X470F Gaming||SAPPHIRE RX 7900 XTX 24GB OC||GSKILL-TridentZRGB 16GBDDR4 3200C14||WARTHOG HOTAS||CORSAIR RM 1000X||

kobac Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 This hegykc's device has a really beautiful design. Worth the waiting... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...
hegykc Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Ok finally most of the hardware got here, including tooling needed to machine this. Took a little longer because of the Chinese New Year and because I wasn't able to get some of the most simplest components locally and had to go the China route there too. This is also the reason why I won't do any kickstarters or pre -orders too early, I want to identify problems and delays before making any commitments and promises. I also want to lay out the ground work for serial production first. There is a lot of fixtures, jigs and custom tools to be made first, so that manufacturing and assembly is as optimized as possible, and thereby as cheap and cost effective as possible. Hence the low price no one else is able to make profitable. In addition to that I also have more than a few other products in parallel development because they all happen to use exactly the same production processes and materials, and all of them have to be prepared for prototyping to justify buying materials in bulk at much lower prices. I also took a month off while I waited for components to arrive. Now I'm back and prototypes will follow shortly. This is project No.1 from now, it's the most simplest one and has the broadest application, transcending sim flying and going into racing, shooters and all other gaming genres. Something simple and broad like this was needed, as it will pay for development of all other much more complicated projects like grips, throttles, instruments and panels. I just need to finish up some machining files this weekend and it's off to prototyping next week. Edited March 9, 2016 by hegykc www.replikagear.com

John C Flett Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 The TIR Proclip is super easy to make wireless. I have been using the same battery and running my TIR5 wireless for over 4 years now. I've never dabbled with wireless but I assume its just a small USB module on each end. What did you go with?
Combat Wombat Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Good to hear it's all progressing well for you ) You most likely have covered this sorry if so but are you going to use paypal regarding payments and shipping costs ?
cichlidfan Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I've never dabbled with wireless but I assume its just a small USB module on each end. What did you go with? The track clip does not require a USB connection, except to provide power. Once you stick a battery in the clip, it does not need any 'wireless' connection.
