funkyfranky Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 For Rift owners that are using Voice Attack and / or Vaicom....what are you using for a microphone that works with the Rift? Not sure if I understand your question right, but with the Rift I simply use the Rift's mic. That works perfectly with Voice Attack. I have never used either of these but am thinking about trying it to make life in VR better, especially for radio commands. I am still trying to work out what does what and what I need...looks like Viacom is a add-on that has most of the commands already set up? Do I need that? How many people use Voice Attack without Viacom? Does it work well? I watched a video about setting up Voice Attack with Auto Hotkey and Viacom...looks like a pain in the butt?? I used to use Vaicom a little but now I am only using Voice Attack. It's very easy to set up some simple and general commands for the Radio. No need for Auto Hotkey. DerekSpeare Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Hey everyone, This is something else entirely in VR, simply amazing. For tooltip label size increase (the default is a touch to small for me in the CV1). You have to go to \DCS World\Scripts\UI\VRTooltip.DLG; Line 71 - Size 18-20 (What ever works). I found the other way through tooltip_cockpit etc, to not do anything. they must only be for 2D? Did you use Notepad++ to make this edit? I have to admit, I did not know the rift had a mic built into it. I hadn't even looked. Set it as default and will give it a go, the less cables the better! SageOT Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 I'm not a computer wizard maybe it's easy to set up but I can't get it too work. Iv tried few times. If you manage to get it work would you be able to help me out. I don't use Viacom. It seems to me to be more of a single player thing and I only play multi-player co-op... So my radio commands are very limited. Basically AWACS/Tanker and ground crew. I was able to set up regular VoiceAttack without issue, so it must be super easy. :joystick::smartass: If it's not been working for you... Are you running it as admin? Do you have it set to send the commands to the "active" window? Have you taken the time to train your Windows voice detection (this helped a bunch) For MadDog... LOL, the Rift mic is great. The guys on TS hear me no problem even if I have it setting on the top of my head. Again, I use a very simple homemade VA profile. I turn my "radio ie \ key" on and off with it. Use it for the F1-12 keys. Open and close the canopy, Esc, screen shot, pause game, labels on/off, switch nav modes in FC3 planes, next/previous waypoint, kneeboard and switch kneeboard pages, Head center, eyepoint shift (example: I say Eyes Back, and it taps the numpad key that moves my eye position back. I say Eyes Back Long, and it holds it down for a second or so for large movements) I also use it to make DCS go full screen and to alt tab through open windows. The only thing I touch the keyboard for at the moment is adjusting pressure altitude, and that's just because I haven't set it up yet. Everything else is either on my HOTAS or VoiceAttack. Mad Dog 7.62 Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Thanks Sage, I am gonna give it a try. Mainly thought of it for radio commands, but other things like turning labels off would be handy too. Mad Dog 7.62 Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Corbett, it doesn't seem too difficult to get it to work. Download and install, do the recommended mic check to make sure the mic is working properly, do the recommended voice training so the computer recognizes your voice, make sure you run it as an administrator, and it seems to work fine. I am still working on the best way to organize the commands to work with the DCS comms menu tree. SageOT Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 At the risk of turning this into a VoiceAttack thread... Mad Dog, that's why I kept it simple. If you want to get fancy Froogle has a YouTube tutorial on VA with the DCS menu. SageOT Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 So back on topic a bit... I may be crazy, but I feel like after the last couple of 1.5 updates, the Rift is even clearer and I haven't changed my settings... Anybody else notice or am I just imagining things? Are you talking about looking around in the pit? You can only do this with your head AFAIK. External view works with a hat or key binding because you are not in a first person view. funkyfranky Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 @chipwich: I think he means that he looks straight ahead and moves the orientation of his plane with the joystick ==> no judder. But if he keeps the joystick constant and moves his head he gets judder. @ NeoxXx: Can you give us the specs of your PC (GPU, CPU, RAM)? Usually you move your head faster around than you do move your plane with the joystick. Could that be part of the problem? When I did the same thing with the de-bug tool it seemed hit and miss too, sometimes it made the pit clearer and other times it didn't. If i move my head around me : No judder If i looks straight ahead and move oriention with joystick : Judder My specs : Gtx1080 with I7 With those specs you should be fine. Has it always behaved this way? What about in other sims/games? Back to DCS, it almost sounds like you've got a controller conflict, like another axis is affecting head tracker stability. I've got the same specs and I'm smooth as buttah with the VR preset. R7 5800X3D / 64GB / MOZA AB9 Base / TIANHANG F-16 Grip / VPC T-50CM3 Throttle / Ace Flight Pedals / RTX 4080 Super / Meta Quest 3
funkyfranky Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Yes, those specs should indeed run smoothly. Did you try to turn down DCS settings in particular shadows and visib. range? Johnny Dioxin Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 I just started flying the Revanche campaign again - I wanted to look for possible problems with the current version, but at the same time, it's a good opportunity to try a campaign in VR. Flew the first mission just now - as I'm in the Su-25A for this, being able to spot targets plays a major part (all done with Mk.1 eyeball - no fancy gizmos here!). I don't think it will be any more difficult to spot road-going targets than it is in 2D on a monitor. Flying at approx 4,000m msl, I could make out the roads well enough to be able to see if anything was on them - and then with the binocular zoom function, to confirm. It'll be interesting to see how the next mission - bombing practice on the range - goes. One thing is clear - flying in VR (and I found this in FSX/P3D too) is a completely different experience and I actually feel a lot more in control than I did using a monitor. For example, this mission was the first time I have ever landed an Su-25 without touching the speed (air-) or wheel brakes, and it was very smooth. I also never used to bother about landing on the centreline - as long as it was on the black stuff - who cares? But now I find I'm bang on that line, every time, without consciously aiming for it. Good times. Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!

Enable the mouse and your head pointer should turn off.
