Precog Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 It's playable if you turn off aliasing but then it's a shimmering mess. Back to 1.5 for me unfortunately until 2.1 gets fixed Check out my 'real world' video series [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Verde Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I meant flying solo and looking outside maybe is a viable option but real combat scenario is a jiddder! As game is called digital COMBAT simulator. Combat scenario performane is unplayable as fps dips even lower than asw needed 45:/

witwas Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 I have big problems with smoke (like in the argo campaign, the mission where you need to land inside the burning refugee camp). It's unplayable with FPS drop to 0.
Koriel Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 I got the rift 3 days ago, and to say the least, I am not impressed at all. Framerate seems to be ok to play, but I miss soo much detail... None of the guages are readable, certainly not the mfd in the Mirage.. I really want to give it a chance, but what do I need to do in order to be able to read the darn instruments? i7 3770, 16G, 1080 Pro's excellent headtracking. headtracking - mouse combination is superb Sense of being there is good. Con's Can't read the darn instruments!! I have the Oculus Tray Tool installed, tried with ATW off and On.

Yes, and in addition be sure and adjust your headset for the sweet-spot in the Rift viewing. It does have a somewhat narrow sweet-spot and if not adjusted for this, can make a big difference in image clarity. FragBum Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) /|\ This. The angle of the rift to your head (eyeballs/face) and the band over the top for height (centring over the eyeballs ), the side straps for what we do it doesn't have to be like an alien face huger, in fact a bit of distance can look sharper. Minimise colour fringing top and bottom use eyeball width for overall resolution. Cycle through a few times to tweak it correctly. If you can handle some moiré drop AA and AF and deferred shading to off and PD to lowish 1.1 most everything else to high, and cockpit to 512, looks great and flies great in Normandy in Gazelle and Huey in "Free Flight" SP mode. For me looks better than DCS 2.0.x in VR. Edited July 19, 2017 by FragBum Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. I don't know it has changed, but it seems that using Oculus Rift "DebugTool" pixel density setting gives better picture quality and better frame rate than DCS setting. Mirage fanatic ! Not sure if that ever really worked. It could just be a placebo. It was never confirmed. Only subjective anecdotes. The Mirage cockpit is terrible for VR, that's true. Even with a high PD the labels are just so small. Other aircraft are generally fine. javelina1 Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 agree, 1.5.7 is pretty good, and I fly with a PD of 1.5 with mostly high settings. I haven't flown 2.1 in a bit, waiting for another update. VampireNZ Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Agreed - the Mirage is the absolute worst example of using VR in DCS lol. I struggle to read the labels leaning down and using zoom! Vampire
Gary Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Quick Q, Not seen this answered eleswhere?? Whilst in VR DCS also displays on my monitor, which uses CPU & GPU performance. Is there anyway to cease the monitor display to increase FPS? - if not, would selecting the lowest possible screen res provide a FPS booost for VR? Kind Regards, Gary I5 - 1TB SSHD, 256 SSD - Nvidia 1070 - 16gb ram - CV1

Johnny Dioxin Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Hmm, I didn't find the Mirage a problem (PD 1.6) - though I do find the Gazelle cockpit labels very difficult to read without zooming in. Gary Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 The mirror image is there at zero cost as it has already been rendered. So what if it wasn't rendered?...better performance? Or if it has to be, would a lower res help at all? I5 - 1TB SSHD, 256 SSD - Nvidia 1070 - 16gb ram - CV1

Vella Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Hey guys, so my specs are: i74790k @4.5ghz, gtx 1080, 16gb of RAM, 250gb ssd for windows, 1tb ssd for games. I'm using the oculus cv1, in 2.1 and am getting low frames as low as 28fps. I've tried following the guide Matt Wagner put out there but still no success in fps improvement. Is anybody here with similar specs who could help me please it's putting off my experience in dcs 2.1. Many thanks.

The above is about how I have mine set, and can run it also with 8X AF and get at least doable performance. Hopefully 2.1 will get some performance improvements as it progresses. It is still an early alpha product.
