USAF TB Solo Pilot was forced to a rough Belly landing and ejection in Colorado.

Pilot is safe minor injuries.

 

Meanwhile an hour or so later USN Blue Angels #6 Solo Crashed after Take Off.

No Chute Reported, Huge Fireball,

Update: News Outlets are reporting 1 Fatality in the Crash.

USN Blue Angels Pilot Did not eject prior to crash.

Witness Accounts say the Pilot did not eject but steered the Aircraft Away from the Apartment complex.

 

The Aircraft collided with the ground in an empty part of a golf course (According to TN News)

Brings the reminder home that these aircraft can be all kinds of dangerous for aircrew even in times of peace.

 

The pilot who stayed with his craft to avoid civilian casualties was noble and heroic, plain and simple - in that moment he made a choice knowing the probable cost.

Damn shame. Blue Angels are scheduled to fly a show here next week. Last time they lost a pilot it was 5 months before they performed again. My thoughts are with the family.

I dont remember off hand how long they were grounded when Kojak crashed.

They didnt release any official reports until close to 8 months later (April to January).

 

They performed a 5 Ship Demo that weeked and The show immediately after,, and were grounded for a short time,

 

they did cancel a few shows and brought in Former Solo Pilot LCDR Olsen to take the spot for the remainder of the season, the shows were cancelled while they rehearsed with Olsen.

I was stationed at MCAS Beaufort during that crash in 2007. I helped provide security at the crash site. It was pretty nerve racking seeing the ejection seat and debris.

In '07 they were back doing shows within 3 weeks. Really hits hard when this happens. If you pray, keep his family and the Blues in your prayers. If not, at least have a good thought for them.
