If you are looking for an excellent replacement for the Pro clip may I suggest the LukeClip Head Motion Tracker. It's only sold on EBay so run a search to find it. I own one, & I can't give this a high enough recommendation. The unit has already survived dropping my headset twice without even batting an eye! I have no doubt that a Pro Clip would have broken the first time.

The unit is only about a third of the price compared to the Pro Clip. It is a wireless unit which uses 2 CR 2032 batteries which are supplied. The current unit does not allow recharging but the person who makes these has plans to add this in the future. The batteries are easily replaced & are really cheap if bought in bulk. I found a lot of 100 for the price of 4 sold retail. I've yet to change out the batteries in mine with about 5 hours of use & an unknown amount of time when I forgot to to turn it off. It has a switch to turn it on & off. A 6 foot USB cable is supplied to power the unit without batteries. It is a very small unit, much smaller compared to the Pro Clip, & built like a tank. It mounts to your headset with velcro so it should fit any & all types of headsets. The LED arms are made from aluminium with SMD LED's generating the IR source.

I've used mine now for several hours of flight time & I can find absolutely no faults with it. I used to use the visor clip supplied with the TrackIR & I have no plans to ever go back. I've had email conversations with the person who builds these & he is very friendly. The unit is sold from England, & the shipping time for mine was only about a week (I live in the US.)

All of this sounds like a blatant advertisement (which it is!), but I think that people should let other folks know when they have found something that replaces an item built with design flaws *cough Pro Clip*. :D If you're in the market looking to upgrade your gear or replace a broken Clip, give this a look on eBay.

I have been itching to buy this since my TrackClip is really wrecked now, so much that even while taped together ingame experience gets 'wobbly' since it's not 100% fixed anymore.

But in this forum (don't make me find the thread^^), somebody claimed he had undesireable outcomes with the LukeClip. If I remember right he had problems tracking his LEDs in the way the old TrackClip did or something like that.

I really would love some feedback from owners of this, especially power users.

I never owned a Track Clip due to the horrible reviews, so I had to set up a profile when I first used it, but I had no problems at all & this was pretty much my first profile from scratch. I have done a bit of smoothing & speed changes, but nothing more.:) I merely changed the setting from passive to active on the main screen & changed the default a little. That was it for me.

Hi all,

My name is Lukasz, I'm the maker of LukeClip mentioned above. First of all, thanks a lot to odin13 for writing a nice review of it and giving it such positive feedback!

This is my first visit on the ED forum, but I thought I would chime in to the conversation since its about a clip I make.

Unfortunately I'm currently sold out, that's why nothing comes up on the eBay search, but another batch is nearly ready. I don't put up large numbers for sale at a time, because making those clips is something I do in my spare time, which I don't have a lot of recently.

If anyone wants to take a look at LukeClip, please visit:

https://www.facebook.com/lukeclip/

I also have a short video presentation of the clip, together with some example gameplay:

Both of these links will give you some more information about my clip, I also have some user feedback and two youtube reviews so far, all of which you can read/watch via the facebook page.

If anyone has any questions, I am here to answer them and help :)

Kind regards

Lukasz

I'm currently on my third trackclip as they always seem to snap on me/give me issues with the foam losing grip.

I'm an old school guy that doesn't like relying on batteries...so I may buy one of these and hard wire a long USB cable into it for power if possible.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the positive responses! Im really happy that you like it. I have another small batch made, and now i just have to do a final test before packaging, so they will be up on eBay very shortly.

LukeClip has 2 options to be powered, batteries or USB cable, and a 2m USB cable is included with the clip :)

I will keep you all updated when I put the eBay listing up.

Thanks again!

Thanks a lot Chief! It'll be posted to you first thing in the morning on Monday!

Do u ship to the USA?

Of course I do :) No problem with shipping almost everywhere worldwide.

The shipping is 5 euro and is a standard untracked package (registered is over twice that, and I had no problems with posting untracked to USA so far)

Best regards

Wait to see what Hegyck comes up with - he's claiming $35 for a whole trackIR system, wireless clip and all https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=104154

But then there's the whole "Bird in a hand is worth two in the bush" to consider.

He has a lot going on, for pretty long time now.

We're lucky there are several solutions around.

I've been using the UTC (MkI) from HAV for several months now (w/ a modified PS3Eye). Wireless 3-points IR emitter (confirmed compatible with the TrackIR sensor/software). Zero issue and great build quality.

Perfect for my wireless headset ;)

(there are different models with more battery life)

Okay, recieved my LukeClip today. It is quite well done and I think well worth the price. Been using TrackIR hat clip since I first started using head tracking. I saw all the bad experiences with the TrackIR TrackClipPro so stayed with the hat clip until now. I must say the newer precision is going to take some time to adjust to. All in all, this product (LukeClip) is everything he is advertising it to be. I am one happy customer. And yes, it is great that there are others out there as well that are all pretty much along the same line, so take your pick. Thanks Luke!
