Lost my mom to strokes(she had a series of them) 2 yrs ago. I wish you a good recovery and just try and not get down while your brain remaps itself as best it can. Wishing you well and back to as close to your old self as possible. Good luck and here's to getting well soon. :)

Cichlidfan...Speedy recovery is my wish for you and others that have these maladies...

Oh to be human!

Fortunately at Age 65, i have zero health issues...no meds.

But I know it could come at any time.

I count my blessings everyday...knock on wood!

I will send a prayer for a speedy recovery.

"Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I preparest my aircraft to receive the Iron that will be delivered in the presence of my enemies. Thy ALCM and JDAM they comfort me. Power was given unto the aircrew to make peace upon the world by way of the sword. And when the call went out, Behold the "Sword of Stealth". And his name was Death. And Hell followed him. For the day of wrath has come and no mercy shall be given."

I do have to say that setting up a smart house is the best thing I ever did. My lights, music, video and alarm system can all be controlled by voice, or my phone. It was convenient before, now it is a godsend.

That sure comes in handy now. ;)

No question about that. I have four Amazon Alexa/Echo devices and WeMo modules everywhere. There are only a few switches left in the house that I ever need to touch. My choice of brass and copper plated switch/outlet plates limited what I can do with them, since the WiFi signal gets interfered with.

Thanks. The mental part seems to be fine. Just some motor control issues.

Guys. I joined this forum almost six years ago. At that time I knew next to nothing about actually flying an aircraft, much less a combat aircraft.

I received a lot of support in response to some very naive questions in the first few months here.

Now I am stunned at the number of people that have posted in this thread and wished me well. While I enjoy my time here, I really did not think most people even paid attention to me, since my aeronautical knowledge is nearly zero.

Again, I am stunned, and grateful for all the good wishes.

EDIT: I guess I should also apologize for some of snarky/snide comments I have made over the years. When you get neg repped by Wags then you know you have made a faux pas. Consider this as an apology to anyone I have ever offended on here.

Hey cichlidfan,

I'm extremely saddened to hear of your stroke and resulting condition.

Please do try to stay positive during such a difficult time and focus on your recovery as much as possible. I'm sure you'll be back doing all those those things you enjoy soon.

Recovery can be like eating an elephant - something you have to do one bite at a time.

I see it is one of those odd hour forum sessions for your right now. At least you are in sync with us lot down under.

My thought and best wishes are with you!!

Thanks Cibit. My goal was 20k posts before my 6 year anniversary, but I don't think I will get there. :)

Welcome back brother !

Has been said "Old soldiers never die they just fade away."

Maybe I'm fading but I'm still here world ! How about you buddy?

Personally I always estimated my longevity by the saying

"Only the Good die Young".

Thanks for all you contribute to this forum and will continue

to contribute.

Now get busy and get better we need ya bro.

See you in the skies soon.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy and I've had both.

Fellow Virginian here praying for a quick and full recovery. I work in healthcare and see what a stroke can do. Stay strong, stay positive, and I hope you can return to full flight duty soon.

Hey guys,

not trying to hijack the thread, just wanted to say thanks for the kind words towards my mum. She's in rehab now and things are improving. But it's a month after the event and she still can't speak more than a few comprehensible words, and swallowing doesn't work yet. :(

At least her tactile functions (using hands, holding things) improve relatively well and a lot better than the doctors initially thought. She, and we along with her, have to take it one step at a time. Which, I guess, is true for all who suffer a stroke.
