Sword Beach mission

Mission can be played in SP or as simple PvP MP mission. Choose FW-190, Bf-109, P-51 or Spitfire slot. There are 5 slots per aircraft. The first slot of each type has 3 AI wingmen, the remaining have no AI wingmen. Enjoy! Bug reports and feedback will be appreciated.

Situation: 1) Blue has launched an attempt to land tanks at sword beach. The ultimate goal is to take Caen. 2) Blue conducts B-17 air raids on a factory south of Caen. Both 1) and 2) play out in parallel, so choose your task.

Red task: 1) Sink Allied landing ships. If this effort comes too late, eliminate the Allied tanks that have landed at sword beach. Local informants will mark tank locations for you if they are sighted.

2) Intercept allied bombers. Hint: the anticipated flight path of the allied bombers coincides with an Allied shipping lane across the channel. Use ships as navaids, but be careful, they are enemy vessels.

Blue task: 1) Protect Allied landing ships and Allied tanks at sword beach. Eliminate Red panzers. Local informants will mark panzer locations for you if they are sighted.

2) Escort B-17 bombers.

I love the escort missions. Question: should we be using AWACS in a WW2 setting? I guess it can simulate ground radar stations but I don't even know how accurate that would be.

As far as I knew ground radar was mainly for defense scrambles. I'm not sure it was ever communicated to pilots that they should be looking out for a particular enemy while they were themselves already in the air! Maybe i'm wrong though.

The RDF stations on the English coast were pretty good and would frequently guide RAF (and I assume also USAAF) fighters towards enemy contacts. So maybe just put an AWACS orbiting above the Isle of wight or something...

Three missions I created for our squad: Bomber escort, Vehicle column strafing and tank busting. Early versions, no win conditions set yet.

Blue: 8x P-51, 4x Spitfire

Red: 3x Bf 109K, 3x Fw-190D

Channel A: plane -plane communication

Channel B: plane - home base communication

Channel D: Radio broadcast from England (only works on Allied fighters)

Have fun! The map is truly wonderful, even with current quirks.

operation overlord

I created a simple mission called overlord

RED task:

Shoot down all B17's before they can bomb the bunkers on the coast

BLUE task:

Guide the B17 to normandy.

Destroy as many enemy ground targets as possibble.

You can summon enemy AI aircraft by using the F10 option in the radio menu

I had a lot of fun playing this mission with my dad!

I think he is the oldest active dcs pilot.....92 years old.

Kind regards,

Emiel

WoW, <Salute> to your father!

here is a bomber escort mission, just kind of a template to custumize, I removed all AI Axis fighters, (otherwise 2 190s would have shot all 20 b-17s down:music_whistling: I watched them do it). they airspawn over England, fly to Caen, and bomb the rail yard at Caen and return to England. I hope this worked... btw its set up multiplayer

Normandy Escort for P-51

I added a few things to Vander's (Normandy Escort mission) and change it to Single Player P-51.

You can edit the mission and change aircraft to Spitfire or other.

I was having so much fun flying this mission over the past few weeks that I continued to add various CAP/CAS targets and play around with Flak. Flak is light and adds a bit more dynamic into the fight:)

P-51 Group A is CAS and enemy convoys present throughout area.

P-51 Group B is CAP and recommended to start with CAP flight to escort bombers to Caen railstation.

A second bomber group will be inbound later to bomb additional enemy targets and will request escort.

F10 menu offers additional support if needed.

Thanks Vander!

Enjoy!

Badhorsie.

Thanks for the mission. This has great potential. There is a lot going on and a good template to work with. I flew and escorted the first flight of bombers. The other AI flights of Mustangs did such a great job of knocking out other bandits that none came my way. Nice f-10 menu to call support aircraft if needed. Did not need to call in support. Maybe add in F-10 menu to call in more bandits and or add more bandits if needed.

Thanks again for your time. This one is a keeper to work on. Next I will try the CAS version.

5 P-51D single player missions

Hi,

Here are 5 missions decided in 2 stories. They are my first and are quite simple. I spent some time to make them look good on the ground and in the air. Timing is key in witnessing nice events.

Also, please comment with improvements and suggestions!

Normandy CSAR

GE2AUeN.jpg

You are tasked with combat search and rescue (CSAR) [use F10 menu to see CSAR task list]. Rescue downed pilots by flying to their location (an infantry soldier is used as a stand-in) and land within 100 m. If pilot ejected over water, you won't see the stand-in (he is on the sea floor). If landing is not possible, hover over downed pilot for 10s at 25 - 35 m AGL. Fly them back to the MASH camp. Downed pilots are dynamically generated from AI dogfights over Normandy. For best game-play switch sides mid-session and support the side that's losing the air battle at that time. Helo flights out of Le Molay (red) and Sainte-Croix-sur-Mer are also tasked with capturing enemy bases by eliminating all enemy units there, and dropping our own infantry at the base [use F7 menu to load and unload troops]
