Another hotfix for 2.5 coming on Friday - that would be my guess then.

Making 2.5 Open Beta U5 the Release Version without any change or fix doesnt make sense.

+1

not to mention that 2.5 current version is unplayable at night .

Yea, I must say this is an odd decision unless ED is releasing a big patch later today or Friday... but then why not just wait for that until releasing to stable? Guess we will find out.

Indeed.. this announcement appears to have resulted in quite some confusion about exactly what is going on.

Calling the extant version "stable" is a bit of a PR blooper.

Maybe a new early access module is imminent?

Don't count on it. The only one that could be considered is the F-18 but it's still almost two months left before the deadline (May 31'st).

If ED decided to publish the release version we can only assume that the problems left are not considered a show stoppers or/and that they'll take substantial time to fix.

Spreading the servers load across three days maybe... We know that their file distribution system has been (and will most likely remain) inefficient under big loads. Dividing the update process might make it more bearable I'd presume.

Fixes for the remaining issues are on going, they wanted to get everyone on the same version and getting a wider sampling as well. The memory load issues, and such are high priority right now for sure. If you were using Open Beta anyways, nothing really has changed. Everyone is focused internally on these fixes for the biggest outstanding issues.

Maybe it sounded this way but I actually support the ED decision to the extent that there are always going to be some known issues to be worked on, even in the release version. It's a tradeoff between keeping everyone waiting longer or making the release even with issues being known.

Obviously there could be always less bugs but I don't experience any major problems that would prevent me from enjoing the Open Beta version as it is. Actually even considering the issues like lack of cockpit lighting during night, 2.5. is still an absolute blast comparing to 1.5.8. People should learn to appreciate more what they have, especially that ED did an amazing job on 2.5

The Memory leaks and similar performance issues are still being worked on.

They are not "Fixed" by changing the minimum requirements.

The Minimum Requirements were updated to better reflect requirements for DCS 2.5 and to clarify, because users would assume a system that meets minimum spec would still be able to run HUGE missions or VR Fluidly and that's obviously not the case.

Open beta is right now just the same build like stable - https://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/

The memory leak is "fixed" by changing the minimum and recommended system requirements

This is not An Official E.D. Statement.

That is really the main issues, and really effects MP. The initial load of memory can take down people with smaller amounts of ram. The team is working on it though. People with 16 GB and above dont seem to be as affected, as they dont hit that wall like someone with 8 GB.

I'm playing in VR with High settings on a "Heavy" mission in MP...should I be in the market for 32GB of RAM to replace my 16GB, or not?

Or is the current requirement, as listed @ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/stable/, just a temporary placeholder under the issue is resolved by the devs?

I am never going to stop anyone from getting more memory, but I think in many cases 16 will do, especially once everything levels out. I personally will be looking at upgrading to 32 myself very soon, not just for DCS, but in general.

Also those requirements have been out there for a while like that.

Roger that, hopefully I can get by on this 16GB until the next series of Ti cards comes out (i.e. when I plan to build a new rig from scratch). Appreciate the response

No problem, I know all this is frustrating, but 2.5 introduces a large amount of objects to the Caucasus map, so its take memory requirements up for sure, I have faith that the team can continue to optimize loading of those and get us better in the future.

16GB of ram here, can't load into the 104th. just an FYI for the team, it does exist for people that have higher amounts of ram.
