Why no sale on Harrier?

No the joke was me buying the L39 at full price and in less 4mins the sale started then It was half price. 4 bloody mins tried to talk to ED team and basicly got told to go away on the live chat not much help there I dont think I will ever forgive this

 

You are not alone. 2 days before sale I bought Nevada and Normandy. I also contacted the ED TEAM but no help. I can also never forget this lolzzz.

I've just started playing DCS and had money in my hand to buy new modules, but a quick google search showed me ED do a Christmas sale around this time so I patiently waited a few days because I knew it was coming.

 

That, and also a good idea to wait for the w/e announcements on Fridays.

You aren't entitled to a sales price or a discount on anything, it's up to the merchant, also the Harrier is in Early Access, you buy into that knowing there will be bugs and that it's not feature complete, this has been made available at the developer's option, not for you to strap in and massage your sense of entitlement. The DCS store also has its own terms - that gigantic wall of text whenever you buy anything that specifically sets out the terms under which the sale is made, it perhaps outlines the reasons for refunds and the process in which they are made. One thing it cannot exclude is certain rights under your local laws - one such example is Australian Consumer Law, even Microsoft, Apple and Valve have bowed before it. If your country doesn't have an equivalent to the ACL and agreements with the US much like Australia, well you're locked into whatever terms ED displays prior to sale, you've ticked a box agreeing to them.

And just for the record: in a free economy with market mechanics decisions can be taken by vendors. To my knowledge there is no legal entitlement to Sales and Discounts in form of a law or regulation in any country I can currently think of... :doh:

There may be - When I was studying Marketing some years back, one of the components regarding market pricing, was that when a new commodity entered the market, it can not enter with a sale price. It must be introduced at the suggested retail price for a specific time (I can't recall how long.) before price reduction is permitted. This may enter into the Combines Act (Canada) or the Anti-Trust laws (U.S.), or advertising laws (bait and switch) and such.

Unbelievable, six years later and the AV-8B Harrier is still never included in sales.

Perhaps it‘s still selling like bread on a stick? Who knows…..

My personal disbelieve about sales and pricing is, how f-ing expensive the JF-17 still is.  I‘d love to complete my collection, but not paying this kind of money for this module. I‘ll wait and be patient. (And the Christen Eagle can gtfo )

you sure? I purchased mine on a sale with 20% discount, for us$50 … not the greatest deal, but a discount nonetheless

agree, I purchased it on 2019 and it still is the most expensive dcs module that I’ve ever purchased…. Even so, it was totally worth it, as it gave me 4-6 months of constant flying (until the P-47 arrived)  … wish Deka finished the english translation of its manual.

Also, on the other hand Deka provided the Chinese assets pack for free, for all the DCS community to use … a nice detail

Oh, I‘m not hating on them for keeping the price up. It’s their right to do as they please. I‘m just sure that it would be one of the dust-collector modules in my collection and therefore I‘m hesitant to pay north of 50 bucks for it. I‘m not hating on the module either, I‘m sure it‘s put together nicely. Just a bit bland compared to many others for my taste (too glass-cockpity , or in other words - not enough steam gauges). Eventually though, it will join my hangar, I‘m sure.

The DCS AV-8B N/A is regularly included in Steam Sales i.e. 50% discount in Sept., 30% discount in the Summer Sale, etc.

You make it sound as if it was mandatory for a seller to discount their products or justify if they don’t. But the only thing you (we) are entitled to, is to stay away from buying if we find it too expensive.

Couldnt agree more … for example I have still not bought the MB.339 because I find it too expensive, I already have other three trainers plus the free T-45 and so I can just wait until it reaches a more convenient price level, but Im not going to rant on the forum about why it has such a small discount

The dev has the right to put it on sale or not. All I'm saying, I would buy it instantly with a 50% sale, but probably won't for full price.

Maybe they plan some major updates on av8 after the f15 is some kind of finish. I bought mine with 50% off in 2021. 
 

if they announce big changes on an old module, they better find some players that have not bought them already.

No, I did not make it seem "like it's mandatory for a seller to give discounts on their products or justify if they don't", my question in the previous post was (as well as the topic title) "Why only with the Harrier?".

And again, I'm not questioning anything about being the seller policy about sales or not, again, read the Topic title. "Why only with the Harrier?"

Folks it is up to the third parties if and when they participate in sales. Please look out for future sales if you dont see a discount you want.
