Sorry, you misinterpreted what I meant - that's my fault. I meant it will end, as in, the initial 2.5OB will come to a close and be promoted to "Production Release"(IE: 2.5.XXX, i presume). and the 2.5.xxx OB channel will continue as a place to test future updates before promoting to the production-release channel.

Yes, that's correct now

I have only 1.5.8 stable installed, so it should become 2.5.0 stable after 1-2 weeks of 2.5.0 open beta testing. But I'd like to change installation directory: now my 1.5.8 stable is on my D: HDD drive and I'd like to install 2.5.0 stable on C: SSD drive. Will this be possible? Or is it better I change now my 1.5.8 stable drive before the update? I do not want to mess with path or registry entries, if I have to reinstall I reinstall, but if my 1.5.8 stable will be updated I prefer to reinstall now, before the update will be out.

You can just install 2.5 seperately on your SSD once 2.5 is available.

Oh totally Pedro. The double facepalm is for how this thread keeps going and going. I predicted 30 pages before the updater is released...At this point, nobody reads the first 10-15 pages and keep asking the same thing or makes the problem even worse...

You can just install 2.5 seperately on your SSD once 2.5 is available.

Just uninstalled 1.5.8 stable from D: and reinstalled to C: SSD. I did some candy crush and had a shower in the meanwhile, and the process is now complete, all my modules active again. Now I should upgrade to 2.5.0 stable - when available - keeping all on the same SSD drive. Thanks anyway.

FYI I do not believe 2.5 utilizes SLI (could be wrong), I certainly know 2.2 does not.

Would you care to explain that? How does DCS decide whether SLi is to be 'utilised'? I thought that was implemented in the GPU setup not controlled by the application.

I know the game must also support SLI it is not only done through the driver.

I believe SLI has not been really supported after FC3.

My previous system had two GTX Titan (original) cards so I really tried to get this to work.

DCS did never run very well using both cards and there was not enough FPS improvement.

I now run a singe GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid with a G-Sync monitor an that works way better.

I have 1.5.8 stable on Steam, and 2.2.0 Open Alpha on Standalone. Is it possible for me to have 2.5.0 on Standalone, even though my 1.5 is Steam?

Yes.

You will need to find the post on what modules can be used between Steam and DCS Stand Alone and which ones can't. I believe it was around the time of the M2000C is where things changed.

Wait, so, will I have a choice, or will it just update and go to Standalone by itself? I just have FC3 and the Ultimate Argument for Steam, so it should all be transferable. One more thing: how much space will it use? More than 1.5 and 2.2 put together? Because I'm hoping it will actually help free up space on my computer, I can't afford much more memory dedicated to DCS.

Not sure what you mean? The steam version will remain the steam version and is seperated from the standalone version. It doesn't switch to the standalone version by an update. If you want the standalone version you have to install it seperately.

I think Chizh said somewhere that the disk space of 2.5 with ALL modules (including all 3 maps) will be around 113 GB.

You'll have to download the stand alone installer. It should "see" your Steam install and pull the necessary files from it that it can use. If it doesn't see your Steam version, then it will download all files net new to your PC.

You need to search the announcements and figure out if your modules will move between Steam or not.

It won't. Unless told so using dcs_local_source.txt file.

Is there any way to start with a brand new saved games directory and let it copy files from 1.5 and 2.2? I have all versions installed (release, openbeta and openalpha) and I don't want to download the whole 2.5, but I would like to start with the very default configuration.

Thanks.

Games that used IdTech 5 like Rage and Wolfenstein: The New Order didn't enable SLI either. Going back a few years (when Wolf: NO was new) I could force it through the to render in SLI via the Nvidia control panel despite the game not being supported, but whenever I did that it it led to CTD and BSODs. I hadn't known before then that some games were unsupported either.

I have read the entire thread, and I am still a little confused.

If I have ONLY 2.2.0 Open Alpha installed, and DO NOT want to install any version of 1.5, I just need to wait for the 2.5 Release version, and I can update directly from 2.2.0 to 2.5, is this correct?

I have about 87 GB free on my SSD with 2.2.0 and Nevada and Normandy installed, I am not sure I have enough room to add 1.5.8 AND then 2.5. Suggestions?
