Not even close.

So Block 10 and below, From a mission standpoint is pretty close. Heaters and unguided weapons only.

From that point of view, yes but in terms of performance there is a huge difference. :)

Yeah I realize that, but all I’m saying is that it would a big let down, at least for me, to have all the performance and features of a frontline fighter, but only be able to use it in the exact same roles as the F5

K I know they are totally different aircraft, but as far what you are actually going to be doing in the sim. They are effectively the same thing. F-16A brings nothing to the table, again as far as the actual missions I would be able to use it for, not in terms of what it is

*edit*

M2K might have been a better example but it has radar guided missiles

I get you point, it is true, but the same can be said about f-16C (Up to block 40). During ODS 1, they only drop dumb bombs and mavericks.

Regardless, we don't know what we get. Whet version, year etc. 9__ (that means nineline...:D )mention the C, so we will have to wait and see.

Edit;

I think some block 30 might have used AGM-88 but not sure.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Considering they have been around since before bs1 came out IIRC, I say yeah, we have been talking about it for a long time. BS1 came out when? Nov 2008?

So, F-16C...I wonder if they will base the model on the Greek version?

Do you think it will be fairly easy to copy the F-18 systems to the F-16 and tweek them so you don't have to build them from scratch to speed up the process?

I wonder if that would be easier or will be better to use lessons learn from the F/A-18 and start from scratch on the F-16.

No. Surely some lessons learned can be applied, but a lot of the systems are very different.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Avionics are different but almost all weapons are shared.

A/G radar should be quite similar (at least in the output).

The next livestream of Crash Laobi's YT channel will feat Wags with some QA from the subscribers... there will be a question like that proposed by me... so , wait and see ...:D

Wags has stated that one of the main reasons to develop the Hornet, is that it's built upon a framework which can be exported to future modules, reducing their development time.

It will be more difficult than simply copy/paste, but sure the Hornet will improve DCS as a whole even for those who will never set foot in its virtual cockpit :-)

If your talking about station 2 and 9, there are just there for the drag and weight for training. It has not electronics nor any connections to the aircraft.

I can't wait when we get an F-16 and someone complains that the canopy glass is to dirty and that it is not realistic.
