The release notes are interesting but a little vague:

  • Update the winding order of the hidden area mesh for the HP Reverb G2 to be consistent with other headsets.
  • Visuals quality improvements for the HP Reverb G2 headsets.
  • Windows Mixed Reality headset platform and reliability improvements.

Anyone know exactly what impact "winding" order may have? Not had a chance to try since the update yet. I'm guessing this would have no impact on the cross eye issue for example. The visual improvements point is interesting some more specifics would be great.

Looks like it was released on 23rd March, not sure I've seen any updates between then and now. Do you know when you "received" it was it it one of the recent cumulative updates for 20H2?

Are we talking about 10.0.19041.2041?

From the page SoH linked to it was available on 11 February, and it is the one I have installed already. There have been several WUs in the last months, si I have no idea which one it was in.

Am I looking at the wrong version?

But it also says that it is installed automatically with WU, which it obviously has for me.

The most recent update I had was KB5001649 a few days ago.

How do you guys know that you don't already have it? Did you check in DM?

In fairness I didn't check but just ran the update from Dev manager, typically it would just say "you have the latest version already" and it didn't. It installed and restarted the headset. Not sure why I didn't have it as I assumed I was up to date with WU's. Most odd

I didn't mean to update via DM, just check the version number.

Do you have the KB5001649 update out of interest?

I didn't have it prior to the update. Version number in DM is now .2041 (with the usual odd year date of 2006 which seems to be a WMR driver thing) and I do have KB001649 - it was installed on 22nd March

Very strange. Who knows?

I mean, these WMR updates are always pushed through via WU.

Yeah, it's very strange. Would be good to know what the "visual improvements" and "winding" order changes actually are.

So it seems that for some the update did download via WU (checked my history and it's not in there) but others had to go the route I took and manually install it. The reddit thread also has some info on the changes but it is a little vague. It looks like the "visual improvements" may be more fixes for Chromatic aberration.

..so before I rush to download (My HoloLensSensors.dll is currently still version 10.0.19041.2037), are the "Visuals quality improvements for the HP Reverb G2 headsets" actually noticable?

I really haven't had a chance to test. But either way updating is probably a good idea.

Not exactly but I assume it happened last night around  7PM EST when I was watching TV in the other room. I heard the headset sound and when I came back to my PC the windows MR window (which I usually close) was open. Verified I'm on the correct driver version.

Hi all,

I am wondering if I could get some help please.

I have a problem with the Gloves in VR, since in various opportunities when I try to push a button, or turn a knob, the gloves end up grabbing the stick and the plane then of course goes nuts (I have lost missions because of this issue).

Is there a way in which one can de-activate the option for the gloves to take the stick and/or the throttle? I am fine pressing buttons and turning things around though, so I wouldn't like to cancel those options.

Thanks in advance for any help on the matter.

Best,

John

Another WMR/SteamVR just released. It kinda broke DCS.

I start everything as usual, DCS last. DCS takes much longer to load, then right as it loads SteamVR pops up that it has encountered an error. DCS still running in VR mirror but can't be seen in HMD. I got it to launch finally, by starting WMR (which used to launch SVR), then launched DCS which then launched SVR.

Seems to be ok, but now I can't launch fpsVR.

There are 2 new on/off buttons under the WMR/Graphics settings... not entirely sure what they do or if they even apply to DCS. I have set them to off for now.

Edit: New buttons with update: Optimize rendering and improve GPU memory usage. And Apply hidden area stencil correction to cure visual artifacts in the periphery.

shrug

Edit: got in

Try this: Launch DCS first and immediately launch SteamVR... which should trigger WMR to load. I got in 3 times now like that.

I'm stand alone with DCS added to Steam menu.

Edit again:  Best bet it is to simply roll back by selecting the opt out of beta under WMR from Steam library.

@Sr.Just tried here and DCS launched fine. I did however leave the default options checked in SteamVR for WMR. Be interested to see if the Optimise rendering and GPU mem usage make any odds to performance. Will try later.

After the update I got the same problem. Then I rebooted and retried and it's fine now. I'll run some performance tests later too.
