What's the recommended MASKSIZE value for Rift?

Will depend on your facial structure to some degree since it depends on how close your eyeballs are to the lenses. 0.58 works well for me

tip , if you like me have your saved games directory on a HDD you should move it to the SSD, which should help when the fxo and metashader2 directories are rebuilt

Hi everybody,

I get an error when DCS World start windows recompile the shaders.

DirectX11Renderer Error

Shader "PostEffects/ascii.fx" failed to compile - HRESULT:ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND

I've updated to the latest beta of DCS World, and the latest NVidia driver 419.67.

Any ideas ?

Shaders mod for better VR performance (experimental)

deleted fxo & metashaders2?

Yes completely removed the mod, then reinstall it, deleted fxo and metashaders2, backup of the dcs folders of terrains mod.

Still this error. Last week there was no problem. The only things I changed are update dcs openbeta, installed last Nvidia drivers and maybe some obscure windows 10 updates...

I completely reinstall the mod over my DCS stable version and it seems to be working properly. So I guess this is not due to the last NVidia’s drivers.

Once again, does this work with the A-10C?

Why don'y you just try it? If you don't like what you see, then just uninstall it. It's very easy to put on and off.

Can't confirm if it does since I don't have it, but it's not a plane-specific mod, so I don't see why not.

I think he’s probably referring to Kegetys comment in post #1 re A-10C.

with every new DCS update or fix, i have to reinstall this mod and do that mundane task of deleting the shader files again again and again... then wait again till those sharder files rebuild etc etc .. DOH!

now, the question is simple: WTF ?

is ED ever considering to implement this mod as user-option settings for VR at all or?????????????????

My opinion is that they will never implement this mod as it has too many issues with very few benefits for many users, particularly those with high end hardware.

I don’t use the mod for those reasons, but occasionally, I reinstall it. Then, I realise why I don’t use it and uninstall again.

There are too many visual degradations, e.g. shorelines, sun, cockpit rendering, small object shimmering in places, disappearance of ‘the shallows’, grass rendering, etc., with very little performance benefits for me and others.

I believe that some people - probably with low/medium hardware - see a performance benefit and are prepared to accept the visual compromises necessary to achieve that, but I doubt if ED are.

Just my opinion!

I sort of agree with you, but if it were entirely right they wouldn't have optimisations available for low spec hardware, this is just another one of those … and as a result of this and many other tweaks I can read my mfd's and run at 45fps nearly everywhere … I agree you will get sfa on your rig, on mine.. it changes it from marginally playable to enjoyable... which is why ed might consider something like it... they need their barrier to entry to be as low as possible.. that said I dont think its as simple as just taking this mod and applying it... and then they have the resource challenges that everyone has... resources for this or time spent on Vulcan … I suspect the resources get spent on the strategic answer rather than the tactical...

Fair enough, I understand your point.

What I would like to see is some sort of masking without all the visual compromises in this mod. I know there is a lite version, but that didn't seem to have much of a benefit for me, at least.

agreed, thats why I think it is a big dev effort to make it tuneable the way other features are and to do perf improvements etc...

1) 580-590

2) my system is too marginal to get a benefit from msaa in game, in theory this reduces the overhead

depends, if you have followed the installation instructions, then 10 mins may not be un reasonable to rebuild all the shaders … depending on spec of your pc etc...
