tosmonkey Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 If they are working on it an update would be appreciated. It is a pervasive, and in some cases, game breaking problem. A bit more communication from ED would go along way.
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 (edited) It is definitely game-breaking, since I am unable to fly on the Caucasus map without DCS crashing after a few minutes: once the flashing starts appearing, I know I have about 1 minute before the crash... Since last Hotfix, the problem is slightly less bad however (at least for me personally, on my system). *edit* A bit more communication from ED would go along way. The crashing is related to https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=232712, so there is some communication on it :) At least I am getting this in my dcs.log: 2019-03-23 22:00:00.076 ERROR DX11BACKEND: DX device removed. tosmonkey Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 I recently upgraded my GPU from an AMD Rx480 to a GTX 1660 Ti and the flickering on the Gazelle has disappeared. I have not tried the Su 25 yet, I'll do that this evening and report back. I also have noticed the occasional flickering I was getting in a lot of other modules as well, such as the AV8b has diminished greatly as well. Strange. I will spend some more time flying in different light conditions to verify but It seems GPU related. (at least in my case)
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 but It seems GPU related. (at least in my case) On my system, the flickering is related to the Timeout Detection & Recovery bug that USSR_Rik mentioned. DCS is not the only application that seems to suffer from TD&R crashes, and it does seem to affect AMD cards more often than nVidia cards for some reason. But I have an nVidia card, and I encounter those crashes *very* frequently. TLTeo Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 It's reported to have been fixed today, can anyone check that?
Drona Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 And here I was thinking it was something with the graphics card or HDMI cable that was causing the issue. For me it was happening all the time. Only when I exited the game did it stop. Here's hoping they fixed it.
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) or HDMI cable I have heard from other people who stopped having issues after they disconnected the HDMI cable to their TV. I tried that as well, but to no avail. I disconnected my 2nd monitor as well, and played around with the iGFX settings in BIOS. None of that helped. As of 2.5.4.29004 OpenBeta, the flickering continues and still leads toTD&R crashes on my system. Let's hope it's fixed for some of you at least. That should help finding a fix for the others who are affected... Kamov52 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 It is fixed for me. Thanks ED! :pilotfly:
ams999 Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 It looks fixed to me (on Vega 64), at least I haven't been able to provoke any flickering after the update so far. Thanks ED! Looks like I have one of the 'some' (Black screen flickering on the some video cards fixed.) discwalker Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I read the brave statement: "it's fixed", but the joy was short. I tested 4 tracks attached by myself to this thread and flickers is the same. I now update the GTX drivers. fxo and metashaders2 was dumped. GTX 1070 8GB, 16GB DDR3, W8.1 on SSD, DCS on another SSD

dorianR666 Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 i still have the problem in OB in mig21, enabling all cockpit lights and looking at the reflections on cockpit glass causes insane amount of flickering running on amd rx 580 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X GPU: AMD RX 580
SgtRob Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 (edited) I've had this issue after the latest OB-update and with the latest drivers. Tried a repair, different settings ingame and via the nvidia cp. Nothing helped. Then I saw that the helipad from the civil objects mod v1.95 flickered in the ME. Removed it and the flickering was gone. Yay. The next thing I noticed was, after the removal of the helipad the workload on my RAM decreased dramatically. I've running MOOSE and RAT with lots of moving and static planes, helis, carriers full of planes and whatnot. Really a lot. Settings pretty much maxed out @ 3440x1440. Plus various apps running in the bachground. With the helipads my 16GB of RAM were runnig around 70%. Without the helipads it's around 40%. This was not the case before the latest update. So far so good. I can crowd Dubai even more now. Lol. Only thing that bugs me now are some white squares instead of lights at the oil rigs. So, I'd recommend to check your used mods. Seems that some may interfere with some obnoxious setting coming with the update. Just like the deferred shading which messed up the lighting. Which still persists... Edited April 13, 2019 by SgtRob
