Would everyone say that tekateka is the No.1 modder on any forum. Man what a talent. Now this is a prime example of why this forum is getting better. People like teka, adding so much quality to this sim. I also fly guys forgive me for mentioning it here, F4AF and with People like teka this Lockon sim has gone way past F4Af IMHO. We may not have a switchable cockpit but we outshine every place else. Thanks Teka for your contributions to this sim. Everyone, give him 3 cheers!!

There forums get both better and worse... TekaTeka is one of the best (if not the best) modders, I agree on that one... I'm in line for this trees bod as well... I'm very eager to see what it's all about (how its done)

 

 

and now on a very "interesting" topic of sig size, I think confusion somes from this Byte/KB rule... technically (and correctly) 1KB = 1024 Bytes however have any of you noticed how HDD do not adhere to this rule? For example, you buy a 100GB HDD but actual capacity if lower than that? Well that's because manufacturers are "cheating" and claim 1GB = 1,000,000 Bytes.

 

So Rugg's sig might be 50717 Bytes which is surely just under 50KB but if you count the wrong way you'd say this is 50.71KB and you know, banning someone for this is definitely wrong and technically incorrect.

 

So... the forum sig rules should change and instead of stating sig image can be equal or less than 50KB in size, to say it should be equal or less then 50000 Bytes in size.

 

And Viper101.. you're wrong. Rugg's sig is less then 50KB in size

I used to visit every day but now, once a week (twice at best) and I rarely post unless someone is asking for help or giving my squad mates a hard time (I'm not one for posting much anyways unless I have something to say).

 

Is the forum better or worse? I'd say its worse now than 12 months ago BUT...I do see a continuous "supply" of new or returning players (given the crap state of 1.0 and 1.02 etc, its no wonder ppl waited 2 years for a better PC before reinstalling I reckon), which is a positive thing. I know we (504) get a reasonable supply of new talent and we've tweaked our training programs to get them up to speed faster.

 

The BS announcement is sure to generate alot of traffic, but I'd bet a months salary it'll spawn tens of bitching/whining threads as well, since that is the form of almost all forums sadly.

 

Personally I am looking forward to BS whenever it arrives, it will revitalise my interest in LOMAC etc, and I have learnt to just ignore the bitch/whine/combative posts of those members I have grown to dislike over the years so...we'll see what July brings ;)

 

(July is big month for game announcements for me, what with BS and Supreme Commander etc...just wish there was some news on BoB2)

Enjoy it for what it is, warts and all, and thank the guys who try to help us all one way or another with new models, textures etc etc. Some of their work is quite amazing and for my part there always seems to be somebody who can answer your question, just ask nicely.

 

Looking forward to BS - with it's new warts. The best they can make it will do for me but either way I will enjoy it. It's a game, not real life !!!!
